Summary: Beautifully Weird
Review: I usually have little patience with avant garde "art" films, but this movie blew me away. The bright primary color schematics of the sets, costumes and outlandish makeup lend to the films dream-like feel. This atmosphere is further embellished by the crude (but effective) techno score (all of the music is carnivalesque and hellish...good score for a new wave freakshow). Anne Carlisle is mesmerizing in both roles (Margaret the struggling actress and Jimmy the bisexual model)and manages to pull off a rather difficult task: coming across as believable in a movie with a totally off the wall story (an alien on the roof feeds off chemicals produced by peoples' brains when they are on oppiates or having orgasms...the feedings are lethal and Margaret's bothersome male acquaintances discover this the hard way). The movie pokes fun at the heroin chic new wave scene of the early 80s and if the alien is symbolic of anything it's probably death by excess.

Summary: Finally available again after 17 years!
Review: I watched this DVD last night, but will leave the critique of the film itself to the other reviewers here.The DVD is very impressive, especially for such an underground/cult masterpiece. It contains three theatrical trailers, and also video of some of the actors rehearsing their lines before actual filming began. Also included is an alternate beginning to the film (about 13 minutes). Great movie to add to your collection if you are into ecclectic films! The extras really make the DVD version shine.

Summary: The worst movie I have *ever* seen.
Review: I've seen this movie about ten years ago while serving in the army, in a base where the movie theater ran two movies every evening and an entry ticket cost pennies - a luxury I used often. Of all the movies I seen, I distinctly remember this movie as the worst movie I have ever seen. I know some people consider this movie as cult, and for a moment I thought I must have missed something, but no - I was the *only* person in the theater to see the whole movie. The rest of the audience left, and at one point the person who operated the cameras asked me if I was willing to give up on the movie and save him the effort of rewinding the film. Every movie brought to base is usually shown twice. This is one of two movies I know of that was *not* shown a second time. Though soundtrack is excellent, the plot sucks - nothing but a few drug addicts taking drugs, having sex, and getting killed by a wierd UFO. This movie fits the taste of a minority audience, but I'm with the crowd on this movie - it's boring and tasteless.

Summary: MaGiC... pure magic!
Review: I, myself, am a sucker for the weirdo quirk music of the late 70s/early 80s... and when I first began to watch this movie, that's what I latched onto: the great and eerie electronics. The story then intrigued me enormously... and these actors, they're just absolutely gorgeous! Read the plot description... it's pretty damn trippy! It is also very existential and the concepts still have me reeling... VERY cool... don't miss! -- or atleast rent it at your local video store! Me? I'm waiting to buy it from amazon::: the swellist media provider around! ;-P

Review: In the late eighties, my friends and I watched this film time after time. Each time we found something different to keep us coming back for more. This is a must see for anyone who enjoys offbeat, low-budget classic films that defy description. You will watch it over and over again!

Summary: A Word of warning
Review: Just be aware that the main character is raped 5 or 6 times in this film. Not a pleasant sight for those who have or know someone who has been raped. If you can get by that, this is a good, odd film. Lots of memerable lines e.g."I am no less androgynous than David Bowie himself" and the great shrimp take-out order.

Summary: Inspirational? ... no, but fun.
Review: Kooky. The heroin-chic new-wave 80's meets ... aliens that feed on deviant energy. Drug addicts wander trashy clubs and streets looking for sex and opiates. My favorite scene is where Margaret's friend "performs" for the gang. "Me and my rhythm booooooooooooxxxx...," she "sings" while her HUGE but primitive drum machine belches and bleeps. Cool clothes, cool music, cool stories, cool cheesy effects. Not for everyone's taste, but this is a film that shouldn't be ignored if you have a taste for the weird and self-aware, drippingly over-done avant-garde.

Summary: A True Piece Of Art
Review: Liquid Sky is definitely a work of art. This movie is visually stimulating. I didn't quite understand what was going on in this movie the first time I viewed it, but watch it two or three times and you will begin to realize the bizarre plot of Liquid Sky. This movie is not for everyone. Watch it with an open mind. If you can find the unbelievably rare soundtrack to this movie I recommend picking that up.
It is very disappointing to me that I do not own this movie and I can not ever afford to own it now. I wish I would have picked this up when it was twenty-five bucks. If you see this movie at a good price anywhere... DO NOT PASS IT UP!
