Rating: Summary: If you want a sample of MST3K, this is where to start Review: My son and I came across MST3K almost by accident one evening as we channel-surfed the dreary world of cable tv. We found this incredibly cheesy scifi movie, with three silhouetted "heads" in the foreground providing a running commentary of wisecracks. Since my kids are both of an age at which guffawing at all things 'cheesy' is a preferred life-activity, we started to watch. It was REALLY FUNNY! And we have been great fans of MST3K ever since. I've even written letters to the SciFi Channel urging them not to terminate the series. For people who are unfamiliar with the wacky universe of MST3K, I would recommend this video as the one with which to start. Generally, one can expect that about half of the wisecracks issued by Mike, Crow, and Tom Servo to hit the mark, and the rest to be so-so. And hey, that's good enough. But in their lampooning of "This Island Earth," their percentage of "hits" is way higher. Perhaps they rehearsed and edited the comments? Whatever--we were guffawing almost nonstop through this one. It's FUNNY, folks.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME MOVIE Review: A fantastic entry or should I say chapter, to the Comedy Central (now it's better than ever on the Sci-Fi channel) hit series.
Rating: Summary: Genius. Review: I laugh at this movie every time I see it. It nevers ceases to bore me. Absolutely full of great "one-liners", this movie is one of my favorites. If people reading this liked the movie, they should check out the tapes of the shows. Two of the better ones are "Red Zone Cuba" and "I Accuse My Parents". Everyone I know loves all three of these. You should check them out.
Rating: Summary: great movie, all around Review: I am a big fan of MST3K, and i also loved the movie this island earth, so i thought this was hilarious. from the part where the guy in the movie says "you know what my wife could use?" CROW: A MAN?) to where they first see the planet, this is the best one yet. A great start for people who havent seen MST3K. If you have any brains in that small head of yours, you will buy this movie today. If not, i feel sorry for you.
Rating: Summary: One of the FUNNIEST movies ive ever seen! Review: I'm a HUGE MST fan. This was the first piece of MST3K work i had seen and i couldn't stop laughing. I pratically passed out laughing. This is a MUST buy for every one. "Inserting the breakfast pastry..."
Rating: Summary: Possibly the best movie in the world!!! Review: "What you are about to see is... an experiment." And so one of the best movies ever has begun. Crow's escape attempt is excellent, especially Tom Servo's "death" cry, "I LOVE YOU MIIKE!!!" Trace Beaulieu as Dr. Forrester is as excellent as on the show. Look for the word printed above the button to activate the manipulator arm controls: MANOS (wink, wink.) The comments on THIS ISLAND EARTH are the best of the best (especially Crow's "Heil Hitler!") Michael J. Nelson is very good, as is Kevin Murphy as Servo. Buy this film now. If you don't, I will hunt you down. BUY IT NOW!! DON'T THINK, BUY IT GOD DAMMIT!!!!! Thank you.
Rating: Summary: Worthy adaption of TV series Review: It's hard to define Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie as an actual film of any kind, since it is mainly concerned with cannibalizing another film, in this case This Island Earth. The premise is that mad scientist Dr. Forrester (Trace Beaulieu) has imprisoned a man, Mike Nelson, in a spaceship orbiting the earth. Mike is forced to watch terrible movies until Dr. Forrester finds the one film so awful it will bring humanity to its knees. Mike's only defense against the cinematic garbage thrown at him is a sense of humor, and together with his robot buddies Crow (voiced and puppeted by Trace Beaulieu) and Tom Servo (voiced and puppeted by Kevin Murphy), he throws wisecracks at the screen as the movie plays. Based on the television show created by Joel Hodgson, Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie riffs hilariously on a drastically shortened version of an old Universal film called This Island Earth, the details of which aren't terribly important. MST3K: The Movie is essentially just another episode of the TV show, with a fancier set and ironically, a shorter running time. Most importantly though, the film captures the spontaneous, irreverent humor of the series, as well as that universal urge to stand up to crap films and say "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any more!" Or, better yet, to stand up and say something funny.
Rating: Summary: "He-Hel-Hello Mr. Magic Plane Person He-Hel-Hello" Review: The best movie there is and ever was! Spread the news that Mystery Science Theatre 3000 is the best. I have never ever seen a movie as funny as this. No one can help but laugh thier head off while watching this MST3K master piece, and remember "This island earth could be yours if the price is right!" Crow T. Robot a.k.a. Crow The Robot RULES!
Rating: Summary: Hilarious Review: I almost never laugh at movies but I laughed a lot at this one. Unlike some of the regular MST3K movies, it wasn't like I laughed a lot at first but not so much later on in the movie, I laughed the whole time. Very impressive feat to make me laugh out loud.
Rating: Summary: Excellent movie; extremely funny Review: I highly recommend this movie for anyone with a sense of humor
