Summary: LOTS of tired comedy cliches
Review: I love Rob Schneider, but I really didnt find this film that funny. There were so many overused comedy cliches that it was boring to watch- especially the "angry black man" thing. I think thats been beaten to death already! Also the "farmyard animal love" thing is tired. It just wasnt that funny! I heard really no one laughing through the whole movie. I thought perhaps the theater was half empty and thats why, (you know when you sit near the front how you cant tell how many people are in the theater!), but when the film ended, I turned around and noticed the theater was abut 75% full! Colleen wasnt too bad, though luckily she didnt have too many lines because her acting obviously hasnt developed yet, this being her first film. There also was no plot until the last 10 minutes of the film...its just Rob running around from here to there filling in time trying to be funny (sadly, it didnt work). Lastly, Rob Schnieder is simply the wrong person to play this role. Someone with more comical physical dexterity like Jim Carrey should have played this role. I suppose SNL or Rob Schneider die-hards will like it, everyone else should wait for the 1.50 shows or the video release. Rob, I love ya, but this film really didnt do anything for me. Sorry!

Summary: Pretty funny
Review: This movie was pretty funny but you shouldn't watch it unless you like Rob Schneiders comedy SNL and other stuff like that. It's pretty good. The girl in it is pretty cute and is worth watching just for her. Hope this helps.....

Summary: Hilarious!
Review: Definately one of the best comedies I've seen. I liked to see all the different animals he could be. I like the dolphin and the goat part was pretty funny. I really laughed when he got beat up by the old lady, and then he threw a handful of dirt into her face. Comic genius!

Summary: Another winner from Rob
Review: this was, by far, one of the funniest movies i have seen this month. i dont know crazy, but i sure do know comedy. the acting in this one was quite breath-taking. rob schneider's ability to portray a dolphin was quite exhilirating. Flipper watch out. your job is in jeopardy. Colleen was very good in it too. i expect big things for her. can someone say, "Joe Dirt 2"? Overall, i'd say this has been rob's best work since "Surf Ninjas." "The Animal" is a must-see. If you dont see it, u will be missing out on a great American achievement in filmography.

Summary: Colleen Haskell is the raison d'etre for seeing this movie!
Review: All that matters is that Colleen Haskell is in this movie. She's the reason it gets five stars as she proves a "normal" person who is self-effacing and modest can become a star without even trying. The movie may tank but Haskell's career should only continue to rise as she is a natural talent and screen presence. Kudos to Colleen for a job well done!

Summary: Mildly Funny & Entertaining -- Worth a Look
Review: This is another film by one of the regulars from "Saturday Night Live," and following a long tradition of films by SNL regulars, it's frankly, well, kind of lame. Rob Schneider plays a rookie cop, Marvin, who is terribly injured when his car goes over a cliff (which may have been the funniest scene in the film).

He is found by a kind of mad-scientist veterinarian who puts him back together with animal parts, giving him extraordinary powers. Alas, it also gives him strong animal instincts which are hard to control. This makes for some awkward social situations for Marvin (and laughs for us), as when he can't stop himself from chasing frisbees in the park, or getting randy over a goat in heat.

Undoubtedly the best thing about this movie was the young and lovely Colleen Haskell. She plays Marvin's love interest.

A great film? No way. But okay for a bit of diversion on a rainy afternoon.

Review: a good example of Schneider's talent. My fave of his movies next to The Hot Chick.

Summary: If you have nothing better to do
Review: This movie is pretty fun. Pretty pointless - the plot revolves around the exploits of failed cop Marvin Mange who has a humungously bad car crash after swerving to avoid a performing seal in the middle of the road and is put together with animal parts by an eccentric scientist . If you have nothing better to do and the opportunity comes up to watch this film, go ahead, I wouldn't bother purchasing it.

Incidentally, although it falls in to the wide band of 'gross out movies', it is not actually as gross as some of the more extreme offerings in this ouevre. Probably the most 'obscene' scene is Schneider licking his own private parts. Is that so shocking?

Overall - Inoffensive, harmless, fairly funny and mildly entertaining.

Summary: The animals are afraid to eat and crap.
Review: Rob Schneider is okay, but let me make this perefectly clear, I do not like movies with monkeys in them. Collen Haskell is in her first film. She was a CBS SURVIVOR contestant on the very first SURVIVOR show. She did not win, but she did get the role with Rob Schneider in this film. With a good fresh face and a refreshing innocence about her, we can see why she was cast.
Rob Schneider was a player on NBC's Saturday Night Live in 1990-94.
Norm Macdonald was a player on NBC's Saturday Night Live in 1993-98. Norm plays a hunter in this film.
Instead of this film, watch AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (1981).
Adam Sandler was one of the Executive Producers on this one. That should tell you something.
DVD includes two audio commentaries, a 21-minute Comedy Central Network program on the making of "The Animal".
In "Special Features", "Badger Delivery", turn on this feature for cutting-room floor deleted scenes to appear when you click on the icon during the film.
