Summary: Hilarious Move
Review: I love this movie, it was great for it's time. I mean now you have probably seen it a million times so you know what all the jokes are and what the storyline is. this movie was the top movie of 1984 and it grossed 238 million dollars. I could see why these were top of the line special effects back in 1984. It stars Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver. This movie is a buy and the DVD is great.

Summary: Murrey And Akroyd - Is There A Better Modern Day Team!
Review: Ghostbusters is one of those films you walk out of the theatre catching your breadth. When I saw this in the theatre I was amazed at how funny this movie was and how creative it was.

Imagine a team of intelligent troublemakers trying to make a living. Parapsychology. Wow. They want to chase ghosts and catch them. The subplot is that New York City is the host of all the ghost (ghouls and goblins too) in the afterlife that are merging to conquer the world.

The performances are standout. Sigorney Weaver and Rick Moranis both steel scenes in their own way. Harold Ramus (also co wrote with Dan Akryod) gave a very down-to-earth performance as the goodie-two-shoes.

Technically the film is wonderful and the effects extremely creepy and gooey! The DVD has a lot of extras, but my favorite is the commentary. They talk about how hard and how much fun it was to make.

This is a great comedy in anyone's DVD collection.

Summary: What About the Twinkie?
Review: Ghostbusters is usually classified as a sci-fi comedy, yet at times it borderlines on suspense/horror. The comedy aspect is more dry than one would expect, but it works in that SNL/SCTV kind of way. The premise is interesting to say the least, the special effects were incredible at the time, and each actor plays their roles so realistically that it makes you take the film seriously. Then it gets funny again and you're not sure what to think. This balance of genres is what makes the movie enjoyable........ and what 80's film would be complete without the gratuitous appearance from typecast bad guy William Atherton?

The DVD is fantastic to say the least for a film this old. The video is fairly sharp with decent colors and detail. The audio could use some remastering though, as is the case with many 80's movies. The extras are numerous, the best being the commentary track in my opinion. Longtime admirers of this film should get this disc...... seeing it in widescreen alone makes it worth the money.

Summary: Who You Gonna Call? YES
Review: Ghosts and goblins have finally met their match: The Ghostbusters! Yes, the movie that started it all. An evil force known as Gozer wants to dominate the planet and uses two human beings as 'the dogs' to open the gates of its world. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson are the Ghostbusters and Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis are the chosen ones to help Gozer. After the team's first successful operation at a grand hotel, they damaged a banquet room and almost evaporated a maid! "What the hell are you doing?" It was classic. Talk about slimage. There's plenty of that and the flowers were still standing. The chemistry between Murray and Weaver was incredible and the showdown at the end was monumental. Stay Puft marshmellow man was the best thing ever since smores were invented. Oh yes.

Summary: One Reason to See It
Review: OK, there are thousands of reasons why, I can't list them all. The funniest part of the movie is the end and the reason I watch it sooooo many times is because of the big guy. Gozer can't even hold a candle to him (if Stay Puft got to be his own entity).

I like the witty dialogue between Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and co., and scene with Slimer is a classic. And all the lines are very memorable. I'd admit I was scared of this movie when it first came out (I was 7) and started liking 'Busters when the sequel came out, but this movie is much better of the two.

It deserves a place in your movie collection.

Summary: "Is this a trick question?"
Review: Ghostbuster stars Bill Muary and Dan Aykoyd and is funny. The ghostbusters hunt ghosts in the great city of New York. Simply, the best of the two movies.
How can you not like this comedy?

One of my favorite lines is "Is this a trick question?"

Summary: Who ain't afraid of no ghosts?!!?
Review: I kept trying to figure out the appeal this zany movie has for so many people and it finally hit me: deep down, isn't there a part of each of us and all of us that believes in ghosts, goblins and things that go bump in the night? "Ghostbusters" is part action, part adventure, part horror, and an all-around joyride. We meet three loony professors, Dr. Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), Dr. Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis), and Dr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), about to get kicked off the faculty of Columbia University, who specialize in the occult and the paranormal. (These guys remind me of Larry, Moe and Curly in more ways than one.) They get an urgent call from the main branch of the New York Public Library; seems there's something funny going on in the fusty archives belowstairs. Next thing you know, ghosts of all descriptions are popping up all over the place, and Peter, Ray and Egon are in business up to their ears. Who ya gonna call? Their phone is ringing off the hook. They're chasing and capturing ghosts of all descriptions (who doesn't fall in love with Slimer, that fat green hotdog-chomping blob of protoplasm?). But when the ghosts invade a great old Central Park West co-op and take over the mind and body of a young lady named Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver is great in this role) and her geeky neighbor Louis Tully, hilariously played by Rick Moranis, things get serious. Screwing everything up at this critical juncture is a dipped-in-starch nitwit from the Environmental Protection Agency (William Atherton) who demands that the Ghostbusters shut down and has a court order to back it up. Hoo-boy, when the switch is pulled, look out... it's Armageddon on Central Park West, as Zuul the Gate Keeper, Vince Clortho the Keymaster, and the Stay-Puft Marshmellow Man battle the Ghostbusters for the souls of Dana and Louis. The movie is too crazy for anyone to take seriously but it's a howler from beginning to end, and Ray Parker Jr. singing the title song (There's something straaaaaaaaaaaange in the neighborhood...) helps keep the fun moving right along. Anyone from 5 to 95 in need of some good laughs will love this one.

Summary: All-time great comedy
Review: "Ghostbusters" is the ultimate special effects comedy. Its concept is great, and the execution is classic; you simply don't see this kind of innovation in this type of film anymore. I could watch it 100 times and still be entertained by its infectious spirit and hilarious performances (particularly from Murray, in his best role ever).

I'd rank the DVD as one of my favorites as well. Contrary to a previous reviewer, I have never experienced any problems with the disc, nor have I heard of any (and I'm in the video retail business). It gives you a full package, with lots of fun stuff worth revisiting over and over again, just like this great film.

Summary: Amazing, There is No Movie To Compare!
Review: The best movie in the world is Ghostbusters without a doubt, and to compliment this movie so well the DVD is amazing. The MST3k style commentary is impressive and hillarious. The amount of effort, and things included on this DVD is amazing. When it was released in 1999 is was the most advanced DVD around and that can still be said. If this isn't in your collection, buy it now!
