Rating: Summary: I thought the acting was good but the story was terrible! Review: The overall acting was quite good but I think the actors were wasted in the film. They could have been doing something better with their time then making this cheesy film. The story line was TERRIBLE!!
Rating: Summary: Made to be bad Review: A spoof of all those low-budget sci-fi flicks of the fifties and sixties. This was supposed to be a comedy, but I found it to be very grotesque and tasteless instead of funny. A waste of an all-star cast with its plethora of overacting and lousy special effects. It's best to see it on one of those premium cable channels instead of renting or buying the video if you just want to relieve your curiosity.
Rating: Summary: Funny, weird, great cast Review: Mars Attacks! is a strange yet funny movie. It did well making fun of 1950's alien movies. Too many big stars can sometimes ruin a film, but Mars Attacks! pulled it off.
Rating: Summary: Surprisingly good Review: When my sister played this film for me, I thought 'Star Wars revisited??' Fortunately, it is not a lame Star Wars. Most people who hate this film expected (as Monty Python would say) something completely different. There are over-acted parts, etc. But this is satire...with a capital S. Compared to recent Mel Brooks, it is refreshingly inventive... I thought the brains exploding at the singing of the Western Music Yodeler was a riot! And I don't normally like this kind of thing. It is more sophisticated and subtle than I think most people realize. See it twice.
Rating: Summary: Busta Gut Comedy!!! Review: Not too many comedies these days keep me laughing but this one is one of the best. So very, very, funny.
Rating: Summary: An alright movie. Review: When Martians come to Earth with the sole pourpose of taking it over, President Dale and his followers must find a way to stop them. I had never even heard of this movie until my schoolteacher asked my if I had seen it. She said it was pretty good so I went to the video store and borrowed it. It was fabulous. Jack Nicholson was amazing as President Dale and the owner of the new Galaxy Hotel in Las Vegas. The music score by Danny Elfman is great and the special effects are quite good.
Rating: Summary: Destined to become a cult classic... give it time! Review: I never saw this one in a movie theatre. Saw it for the first time on a TV cable premium channel about a year or so ago (sans commercials) and loved it! It came as a complete surprise because I didn't know anything about the film previously. Its was a good thing for me that this was the case as the negative opinions that subsequently came to my attention are just plain ludicrous. Last night it ran again on a commercial cable channel with a ton of commercials. True test of a good film is the agony you go through until the ads are finally over with and you can get back to enjoying the rest of the feature! I thoroughly enjoyed all the truisms it pokes fun at. Rod Steiger was stupendous... everyone in it was stupendous... and Martin Shorts' scene in the White House in the "Kennedy Room"... hilarious! If you don't possess a sense of humor, pass on this one! This is one of those rare therapeutic films that lift you out the doldrums when you need it! Buy this one and skip the commercials!
Rating: Summary: YOU GOTTA BE JOKING. Review: First of all how can cast like this star in a movie like this espically Jack Nichollson you let me down on this movie you were just in it for the money. If i was president of the united states id rather commit suicide than starring in this movie. AND ONE MORE THING? This movie can kiss my a--? see if you can fill in the blank
Rating: Summary: An irritating movie. Review: The special effects are o.k., but that's about the only good thing to be said about this overrated piece of junk. It's an annoying and irritating mess, filled with actors who think they're having fun, when in reality they dislike the material. It if weren't for Burton or the big budget, would they care ?. -Ofcourse not. It does however feature two of my favorite actors; Joseph Maher and Sylvia Sidney. The great Maher is wasted in yet another nothing-part, but Sidney is marvellous as Grandma. There's really not much else to recommend it, I'm afraid.
