Summary: "Pizza... is gonna send out... for you!"
Review: "Spaceballs" is a great example of a cheaply-priced DVD, with few special features, that's a must-have for your collection. The movie isn't the best parody film that came out of the 1980s -- obviously it's hard to stack up against "Airplane!" or "The Naked Gun" -- but it's got a terrific joke-per-minute ratio and an unusually deep cast.

Bill Pullman and Daphne Zuniga are still recognizable names 15 years later. You have a cameo by John Hurt, a walk-on for Tim Russ (who deserved a medal for his long-suffering 7 years on "Star Trek: Voyager"), and Brooks himself in *two* roles. Then there's Dom DeLuise's voiceover, and John Candy and Rick Moranis (quintessential '80s funny-men) both on top of their games and stealing every scene they're in. And if you saw "Spaceballs" you also saw at least three of the "Police Academy" epics -- and there's Michael Winslow, the funny noises guy! Even Homer Simpson remembers him.

What turns the (...) DVD into a true collector's item is Mel Brooks's commentary. Who wouldn't want to have Mel Brooks sitting on the couch right next to them while watching the movie? His track isn't as intense as the commentary for, say, "The Godfather"... but it doesn't need to be. Mel comments on all the gags, laughing or groaning when appropriate, and seems to have the CV of every cast and crewmember in front of him, because he can tell you how he found the third extra from the left in any given scene. This was all recorded years ago, in the laserdisc era -- perhaps the track might be deeper today -- but at the end of the day you still have Mel Brooks talking you through the movie. If you don't appreciate that, you're watching the wrong director.

Summary: Thank you, Mel Brooks
Review: I like this video. I like the funny parts. I like the character Dark Helmet. I also like how they try to [remove] the air out of Planet Druidia. I also like the character Lonestar. He's a combination of Han Solow, and Luke Skywalker. I also like Barf the mog. I like all the lines in this film. It film has alot of action, as well as the spoofs on Star Wars, Star Trek, and many other films. I also like the part where Lonestar throws the Razberry Jam at the radar dish! jamming the radar so they could get in to rescue the princess. This film is the best comidy film ever. Thanks, Mel Brooks. This is cool. It's been a long time since I bought this video. I highly recommend this film to anyone who likes comidy films. You shal enjoy it.

Summary: A perfect parody
Review: Having seen most of Mel Brooks' works and being a diehard Star Wars fan, I have to say this is probably Brooks' besk work. I enjoyed how the counterparts matched and deviated from their equivalents in Star Wars, the funniest being Dark Helmet compared to Darth Vader. The movie closely parallels the first movie the SW trilogy with small bits from the other two thrown in for good measure. On another level, it was a wonderful comedy with great characters. A must-see and May the Schwartz be With You :)

Summary: One of the Greatest Comedies Ever
Review: Anyone who didn't laugh through this movie needs to check for a pulse. This hilarious Star Wars parody is one of the brightest comedic gems of all time. This movie has SO many memorable lines ("Go back to then." "Then?" "Now." "Now?" "Now." "I can't." "Why?" "We missed it." "When?" "Just now." "When will then be now?" "Soon.") and scenes (the Planet of the Apes parody) that it a classic. Anyone who disagrees should go back and see this movie again.

Summary: Space... the predicatble frontier
Review: MEL BROOKS is a consistently funny guy. All of his movies have some great laughs scattered throughout. But some of his films, like YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN and THE PRODUCERS, are truly excellent films. SPACEBALLS falls in the only sufficient category. there is plenty to laugh at as the STAR WARS Space Opera is parodied, but there is little genius in the story structure or pacing. Although, too many this film is 'hilarious', I see it as accomplished as a SNL skit. Still, scattered throughout the pre-pubescent and ethnic humor are a couple creative moments. the DVD includes a nice commentary by creator BROOKS and a nice video transfer. And MAY THE SCHWARTZ BE WITH YOU.

Review: This is very funny, Mel Brooks makes some of the funniest movies and this is one of them, a work of comedic genious like Young Frankenstein etc! I got this video a few years ago and I watch it anytime I can get the time to really sit and enjoy it, I noticed that this particular video that I have is out of stock and I'm glad I got it because I like the cover design better then the new instock video.

Summary: A Must See Movie
Review: Mel Brooks isn't considered by all to be the funniest man alive. In many ways he annoys me. But this movie is a Jem even to those that can't stand Brooks. Rick is hillarious, Pullman couldn't have done a better job, (which isn't saying it's great, but he does shine in the role.) To top it off, the late John Candy is priceless.
There are moments in the movie where laughter are not present but they are few and far between. This is hands down one of the funniest movies I've ever seen and if you have not seen it, you should. Owning the DVD is even better because of the special features. Mel Brooks commentary, while at times boring and monotonous, really help the viewer to get even more into this wonderful movie.
If you could see one movie your whole life, I'd probably say see Titanic, or something grand, but if you watch a lot of movies, and you're looking for a funny favorite, this is it.

Summary: horrible DVD commentary
Review: The movie Is already only a 4 so I didn't take any points away for the crummy commentary. Its really the worst commentary track I have ever heard, he adds very little to the movie, while he spends alot of time laughing at this own jokes, and repeating random lines without commetn, and again laughing. Every once in a while he starts talking about an actor or someoyd, but it usually ends up being a bunch of nonsense ending with, "he is really a great actor..etc. I hope he is doing well". No great insights, nothing new to learn about this movie, just lots of random stories about people you won't care about, lots of laughing, and mel brook repeating lines for no reason.

The commentary is nearly impossible to watch.
