Summary: One of the BEST movies EVER!
Review: I wanted to see this movie ever since I saw the commercials for it and it was worth the wait! The animation was absolutely beautiful and the soundtrack was great! It was so funny! I laughed nearly the whole thing. This is the best (Disney) movie since Tarzan and this one is even BETTER! The surfing was cool and I liked the part where Stitch attacks the blender. I also liked Nani (voiced by Tia Carrere) because she is pretty and Tia Carrere is the star of my favorite TV show (Go Relic Hunter!). Anyways I thought this was a GREAT movie and I saw it 3 times (I even took my neighbors to see it today!) and it certainly made it to the top rung of my top 10 list.

Summary: Stupid Disney Movie on Earth.
Review: I like a lot of Disney movies except this and Spirited Away. Worst film. You should not even spend [money] at the movies for this film. I seen this movie. I never wanted to see it again. If there is a good movie you already see in June 2002. That will be Scooby-Doo and Hey Arnold! the movie. This is the worst movie you ever see. Don't even buy it with your [money]. Try another Disney movie like Disney's The Country Bears. This movie is stupid. Don't even see this Science Fiction Movie at all. Worst Science Fiction Movie. A Best Science Fiction movie will be ET The Extra Terrestrial. Hate it, Hate it, HATE IT!!!

Summary: Disturbed by interpretations...
Review: It really bothered me that so many people took the portrayal of Mr. Bubbles the social worker as that as a "bad guy." He was seen as bad through the experience of Lilo and Nani, because he was a force that would separate them. His character was a counter-balance to the concept of ohana. I think the portrayals of all of the human characters were wonderful - they were more realistic than the idealistic, stylized performances of characters in other Disney movies. I think this was a wonderful movie for older children, teenagers, and adults. I am so glad that the Disney animation team is finally breaking out of the corner they drew themselves into (pardon the pun). Lilo and Stitch is a movie that pushes the envelope a bit, while still retaining the old family spirit of the classic Disney films. This movie is more than what you see on the surface. Don't be afraid to look for the message.

Summary: The BEST Disney has produced in a long, long time.
Review: This movie was GREAT! It is so fresh and new and almost doesn't seem like it was created by the Walt Disney Co. But it still has the warmth that is omnipresent in any Disney movie. Another nice change is the lack of music. Well, character-sung music anyways. There are a couple of Elvis songs and 2 Hawaiian songs for background music, but "Lilo and Stitch" is not a musical.

The animation is quick, snappy and fun to look at. The characters are believable and even more realistic than any other characters Disney has created. Because there is no pure evil and no pure good in this movie. No Cruella DeVil, no Snow White. All of the characters are grey. They have some good, some bad just like the rest of us. They're much easier to relate to.

This movie has heart, has humor, and you just gotta love Stitch! He's adorable. I highly recommend this movie for kids, kids at heart, and anyone who thinks traditional (hand-drawn) animation is out and CG (computer generated) is in!

Summary: It Kept ME In Stitches!
Review: This latest effort in the Disney animated feature realm, was a delightful way to spend a rainy afternoon with my family. ................ After being created by a mad scientist with four eyeballs and a hilariously foreign accent, aliens decide the monster we come to know as "Stitch" is obsolete. While Stitch is about to be vanquished from the planet, and his inventor jailed for creating this violent and unredeemable monster, he escapes and lands in Hawaii. The lucky alien is adopted by sweet, but troubled Lilo, a little Hawaiian girl who has been orphaned with only her big sister to care for her. .............. The movie begins strangely, and with a "Trekkie" flavor, but soon takes on a cheery colorful mood as we meet Lilo. Like any great movie, we immediately care for the orphaned siblings who only have eachother, and are trying to get by. Lilo's big sister is struggling to find a job to take care of the two of them, while Cobra Bubbles, a social worker voiced by Ving Rhames, warns that Lilo may be taken away if she doesn't do better on finding a job and caring for her little sister. ............ Lilo is a lonely outcast who doesn't fit in with her peers, and needs a friend. Her sister takes her to the local pound where the alien is terrorizing the resident hounds. Lilo sees the alien who she thinks is a dog, falls in love with the strange looking creature, and names him "Stitch". His best behavior is shortlived and for the benefit of being adopted, naturally. Lilo decides he's her new best friend, despite warnings from the pound proprietor, and her sister. ............ Stitch goes wild, destroys, and ruins every opportunity the sister has for a job, but Lilo never gets discouraged. "Nobody gets left behind", the family motto, keeps the faith, and that means Stitch stays. Meanwhile, the laugh out loud fun begins as the aliens send the mad scientist inventor of Stitch, and a one eyed partner to earth, to retrieve the monster. There are many laughs and smiles to experience as the hijinks mount, and the adventures get wackier. ........... I found "Lilo and Stitch" to be a fun, heartwarming Disney adventure. I really cared about the animated characters here, and if I can care, as an adult, about cartoon characters, the writing and animation has to be superb. As with any piece, fact or fiction, film or literature, if you care about the characters, you have had a fulfilling and worthwhile experience. ............... Don't miss out on this funny, fresh Disney adventure, that the whole family will enjoy.

Summary: Disney's Best In Years
Review: This movie is by far the best animated Disney movie in years! I saw the trailer for the movie about 1 month before it came to theaters and I knew that i had to see this movie. The first thing that i noticed was the cute little alien who acted like a dog on earth. I also noticed that this was not going to be a cheesy movie like so many other cartoons. So when the movie came out, I saw it the first day it was released into theaters. The begining of the movie was very action and comedy packed 15 minutes. Then i saw the little girl lilo for the first time and noticed that she was the outkasted friend in the group of girls in her dance class, and all the while trying to deal with the problems of her older sister nani trying to gain custody of her. This whole sequence of the movie was rather tear-jerking and emotional and at the same time funny. Then when Stitch came into the picture, things began to heat up. The movie suddenly became funnier and sadder as the movie progressed. But enough of my talking, the movie was a very emotional one ane a definate for the whole family to watch.

Summary: Disney Magic At Its Best!
Review: Combining whimsical, unforgettable characters, an iminative story, and colorful artistry, Walt Disney Pictures' delightful new animated comedy, "Lilo and Stitch," tells a captivating tale of a young girl's close encounter with the galaxy's most wanted extraterrestrial. Lilo is a lonely Hawaiian girl who adopts a small ugly 'dog,' whom she names Stitch. Stitch would be the perfect pet if he weren't in reality a genetic experiment who has escaped from an alien planet and crash-landed on Earth. Through her love, faith and unwavering belief in "ohana" (the hawaiian concept of family), Lilo helps unlock Stitch's heart and gives him the one thing he was never designed to have - the ability to care for someone else. With its lush tropical setting, unique sense of of humor, and classic songs by Elvis Presley, "Lilo and Stitch" manages to capture imaginations everywhere. Lilo and Stitch takes place on the Hawaiian island of kauai(A real Hawaiian island, infact the opening scene with Lilo in the water is supposed to be Kauai Hanalei Bay). The animation is done by watercolors, which have not been used in any film since Dumbo- sixty years ago! 12 year old Daveigh Chase(Donnie Darko, The Ring) is truly outstanding in this movie! Her voice work for Lilo really makes you feel that it is a real girl! The only other disney movie that had truly good Kid voice acting was The Lion King. However this tops The Lion King! I couldn't believe that a young girl could have such a wide emotional range to pull of the part of Lilo! Overall this was my favorite movie this summer(and I have seen almost every one)!. When Picasso once said, "Art is a lie that tells us the truth", he must have been speaking specifically about animation. Many scenes in the movie make my heart break because of the sadness of them. In the end, animated movies are all about real people, and that is why I love to watch them. This movie is so good that it deserves to win a academy award for Best Animated Feature, if not Best Picture. Daveigh Chase should win a Best Actress Avademy Award for her outstanding performance as Lilo in Walt Disney's "Lilo & Stitch". I would absolutly give this move more than five stars if it was possible!

Summary: Lilo & Stitch Rules
Review: This is the best Disney has put out in a long time! Don't listen to those people who give it one star and haven't even seen it yet, and don't listen to those people who hate it because they say the animation isn't good. The people who say the animation isn't good have had their eyes wasted on computer generated effects for too long. Lilo & Stitch is done the way the classics are done, with time and skill. The water color backrounds are the best I have ever seen in any animated movie. As many know the story is about an alien named Stitch who was created to destroy and escapes to Earth where he is adopted by Lilo, a lonely Hawaiian girl. Lilo tries to make Stitch act normal as he tries to adapt to life on earth, but he is also followed by his creator in order to be brought back. This movie is unlike any movie Disney has ever made, the actions of the characters, their words, and movements, can be compared to that of living actors in a real movie. Personally, I think that this is probably the best Disney movie ever made, it is a lot better than Snow White, believe me, I've seen it 10 times already!

Summary: Lilo & Stitch
Review: I know that most of the reviews for this movie have been positive, but I guess I (and some other mom's with whom I've spoken have a bit different opinion). I think Disney had an outstanding opportunity with this movie and they blew it.

The premise was a good one: cute (albeit precocious) little girl living with her sister, struggling to make ends meet after parents are killed in an accident; castoff alien who tries to assimilate into Earthen ways and looks. As I said, this story line had some great possibilities, but unfortunately, here's what I had to explain to my kids after the movie was over.

1) All throughout the movie Lilo and her sister were referred to as coming from a "broken family". The term "broken" is archaic, insensitive, politically incorrect, and used inappropriately for their particular situation. They are, in fact, orphaned.

2) The social worker was drawn to look 'mean' and inflexible which underscored his temperament and manner in handling Lilo and her sister (until the end of course). I would think that there are enough problems that social agencies have to deal with, without adding to them by portraying them as the "bad guy" in scenarios like the one presented in this movie.

3)Is there any reason why the creators at Disney feel compelled to make the initial/opening scene that sets up the confrontation between the main character (Stitch) and the "BAD GUYS" (from his planet) as well as Lilo and the social worker, SO incredibly scary and loud? The point could be made without it being so loud that it frightens kids, not to mention the venomous anger and hatred shown to characters like Stitch.

Net, I was very disappointed in this movie. I have loved most of their previous films, but this one won't make it into our personal collection. It wasn't the kind of action or manners that I want my child to learn from or emulate.

There were some very cute scenes, but the abovementioned things really dragged down the movie for us.

Summary: Fun and Something Different
Review: This movie was not exactly what I was expecting. I thought it was going to be cute and funny, which it was. However, this film has a very fresh and different look to it which really captivates the viewer in a peculiar sort of way. Its low-key approach and the methodical movement of its characters interspersed with moments of bizarre humor are great fun and entertainment that keeps you interested throughout. The background artwork is reminiscent of early animated cartoons while the characters are drawn with great simplicity yet yield great depth and emotion. This is a really different looking film from Disney and demonstrates that they are still capable of great innovation. LILO & STITCH is not a flamboyant film but instead it is one that you will savor. I found it to be the most memorable film of this summer. My family loved it.
