Summary: Great, innovative visually awesome movie
Review: The plot is a little sketchy and the acting can be hokey at times, but there never has been nor will there ever be another movie that looks like Tron. It is simply awesome. The extras on this disc are also very well done. THere's a long interesting documentary and a bunch of other stuff that really make this disc well worth the price.

Summary: We've waited long enough!
Review: Disney always has that annoying habit of releasing movies for limited times, and then re-releasing it only a generation later. I'm glad that they compensated us with tons of extras for the wait. The movie is quite possibly one of the best remaster jobs I have ever seen. None of the crusty 80s film, and if this movie was released today, no one would believe it was filmed in 1982. It looks and sounds that good.

The extras are too many to list, but all of them are great. The documentary is insightful, but boring at times. But, the great thing is, near the end of the documentary, they do tease the production of a Tron sequel. God willing, I won't have to wait 20 years to own that one if it does happen.

Summary: Tron - Excellent Computer Effects
Review: While most think that this movie's computer effects are ancient, Tron was one of the few movies in the early 80's that used high-quality computer generated effects. Disney went all out on this film, making it a legendary movie. The 20th Anniversary Edition DVD provides you with Deleted Scene footage, concept art, and other truely interesting facts about the movie that you may or may not have know. Definitely worth buying.

Summary: Classic
Review: The word "classic" suffices beautifully. But, entertaining and fun would perhaps be more descriptive. There are very few experiences, if any, that are as exciting the second time (and subsequent times) as the first time. Seeing this movie again was, indeed, just as exciting as seeing it for the first time. I wish I still had the toys...

Summary: Very very pleasantly surpised
Review: I hadn't seen Tron since some Disney Channel showing about 12 years ago, and I started watching this new DVD version believing I would have to "put up with" ancient computer graphics that would look incredibly silly after two decades of advances. I was so wrong. The many years that have gone by don't subtract from the sense of being inside a game that these graphics convey. The weird glow surrounding everything and the blocky vehicles suit the mood and setting perfectly. It wasn't long before I stopped thinking about the age of the graphics and just started enjoying them. It occured to me how great a new PC game version of this story would be, and a few weeks later, it turns out they are making a sequel to this story and the graphics look great and are very remeniscent of what you find in this movie.

The opening 10 minutes or so of setup leading to Jeff Bridges' entry into the Tron game world are very cheesy, very campy, and very very 80s. After that part is finished, express your sigh of relief and enjoy the rest of the movie- until the resolution of the conflict and the reemergence from the cool computer world. Then it becomes cheesy, campy, and 80s again for the last 3-5 minutes. A small price to pay for all that great fun in between.

This movie is for the true science fiction fan who doesn't demand ILM realism in order to be swept away into a great concept. It still has the ability to wow if the viewer goes into it with an open mind. Closed minded people beware: you have probably already put this one on the shelf with anything representative of the late 70s-early 80s scene. But this is not Xanadu, The Wiz, or The Misfits of Science (all of which I like bits of too). If you can open your mind to something a little different, take this one down off of the 80s shelf and give it a try.

Summary: Classic Sci-Fi at it's Best!
Review: I was so amazed with the picture quality of this DVD. We used to have an old VHS copy, and it is no comparison. It looks like this movie was more recent than the early 80's!

Summary: Young Again
Review: What can I say? This is my all time favorite movie! It's a perfect combination of sound, color, texture, people, places, ideas. It portrays God exactly as I would wish him to be - a somewhat thoughtless, extremely brilliant, nit-picky yet kind Englishman. It portrays the Devil as the biggest bully in the world, yet so easily destroyed. It's full of magic, mystery, and wonder. And in the end, it all rolls up into a scroll, and that's how I often think about life. I love the panning into the house in the beginning, and the panning out of the house in the end. I loved the ending - there was no ending for the boy - it was just going to an ongoing adventure, without the restrictions normally associated with growing up. He was, of course, rightly upset. But sometimes we have no choice. The movie always leaves me feeling absurdly happy, and ready for anything. It takes me out of myself. And I love the ending song - written by my favorite Beatle. So that's the extent of it. Watch it with an open mind. Enjoy it.

Summary: so nice, but not so childish
Review: If you never saw Tron on the cinema during your late childhood, it is time to fix it. Tron is a bit historical because of its special effects old techniques, and for an original story that never came again until now to the cinema. Even if some people think it is made for young people, it is not so true: because of the old-fashioned and funny movie colors, because of a poor violence in the speech and in the images (except one scene), young people will be disapointed. Whatever the way you can see it, it is always a moment of pleasure.

Summary: 20 Years From now and still rocks!!!
Review: This is such an excellent purchase!! A great edition of Disney's 1982's sci-fi adventure when CGI was on its first development, but it's ingeniuity is just in its way to create an excellent atmosphere for forthcoming computer generated films. More than 5 hours of entertainment in it's best. 20 years from it's birth I still remember the first (of 7 times) I saw it on the movie theatre and is still great, not only the computer graphics but the story is a very good one. A masterpiece from Disney Studios!.

Summary: Great!
Review: Twenty years ago I enjoyed Tron in VHS, I didn't understand many concepts, but the movie had something special. Today, when I'm a computing engineer, all those concepts come clear. This movie is one of the best I've ever seen, its magic is still alive, I'm proud to say this is my first DVD. Regards to the Tron Generation.
