Summary: Cruise control
Review: After spending most of the budget to get back Jones, Smith (as well as Sonnefeld)and whipping up fun special effects, there wasn't any money left for a good screenplay. A pity as Men In Black offered alot more potential than this anemic by the numbers sequel could deliver. The plot? It doesn't really matter but Lara Flynn Boyle plays an morphing alien that comes to earth looking for a device that will enable her to rule the Universe. Will Smith has to recruit his old partner Tommy Lee Jones to help save the world again because he's the only one who knows where it is and how to get to it.

Nobody's going to strain an acting muscle in this type of picture. All the actors live up to our expectations of what we've come to expect from Hollywood drivel. The most amusing (and best) part of the film is the first fifteen or twenty minutes as Smith must get rid of a new partner and break in an old one. The sequence in the post office is the most inspired bit in the whole movie. The rest of the plot is as transparent as a newly cleaned pane of glass.

The science fiction elements of this visual comic book are props. This film (like it's parent)has enough holes in the science to drive a truck through. On the other hand, as a comic book it's not bad just uninspired. Sonnefeld's direction has more in common with connect the dots than actual film making. As a popcorn film, Men In Black 2 isn't bad just an underachiever. It's an enjoyable way to spent a mindless afternoon. A pity that Sonnefeld elected to remake the first film vs. trying something new. I doubt that he'll do another sequel with the original cast. They'll be no money left around for the visual effects much less than screenplay. Without the visual effects, Men in Black III might as well be about a bank heist.

Summary: MIIB review
Review: After having read the reviews for this movie I wasn't so sure I wanted to own it. Now that I have seen it ( more than once I might add) I think it's a great sequel! Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones make a great team in this second movie and although the villain in this movie (Serleena) is a bit cheezy, the storyline is entertaining and amusing and the special effects are excellent. If you liked the first MiB you will like this one as well.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: Overall, MIBII was a decent show. But I was severely disappointed with one aspect, which really is the emphasis to me writing a review.

I loved, absolutely loved MIB. However, I felt that MIB was Tommy Lee Jones's movie, and Will Smith was along for the ride. And as much as I love Will Smith, they seem to have made MIBII his movie, and had Tommy Lee Jones along for the ride, and it just ruined it for me.

Perhaps the movies simply speak to two different types of people and I'm much more of a type I then I am a type II, but I enjoyed the first movie far and away better than the second.

Summary: Good Fun!
Review: I think you have go into a movie with some kind of idea what the film will be like. You can't expect more out of movie than it's intended to be. This movie is suppose to be fun and that's it. I liked MIB1 and this movie held to that standard.

What a lemon.

Summary: Better than average sequel
Review: The problem with sequels is that they become topheavy with the expectations of those that saw the original, the producers relentlessly (and shamelessly) striving to seduce every possible viewer that is seeing it just to catch their favorite character or situation. God forbid that you leave out the little dog that talks, or the googly-eyed guy or the neuralizer. I mean, after all, someone might walk away disappointed saying, "Gee, I sure wish they included those weasly smoking guys!" I can only think of a few that I really liked better than the original - Like Godfather II, and even that does it's share of pandering the audience. Even so, it is suprising, and refreshing when a sequel works at all. Happily, MIB II does its job, and seduces without pandering. Well, maybe that is generous. I suppose I could get used to a little pandering, as long as it is really taseless. Everything is there, but each refreshingly different enough from the original to keep our attention. Sure the story is fairly predictable, but after all, this isn't Our Town. Here Frank is a grown-up agent and is hanging around with the dog guy. They need to find "The Light" or the world will end. K (Kevin) is the only guy who knows where it is, and he, of course had his ming erased at the end of MIB I. He needs to get his memory back, and, well, you get the idea. it's pretty much fun, albeit mindless. It is good for a yuk with the kids over popcorn on Saturday night, and Lara Flynn Boyle would keep my attention even if the movie was a dog (no pun intended). If she reads this, or if you know her, tell her that I hope that I see her in the sequel.

Review: -MOVIE-
Well, Men in Black was a great movie and I had high ambitions for the sequel. In my opinion, it falls short of its predecessor. Some of the jokes just seem to be recycled, and the whole story (while entertaining) was just lacking a little something. MIB II does have its funny moments, and witty remarks. As with the original MIB, the special effects really blew everyone away. I wasn't sure that they would be able to keep up with the industry this time, but it seems that they pulled some new tricks and the visual effects look great. As always, it looks superb in DVD format.

-SPECIAL FEATURES-
Well, basically it's take-it-or-leave-it, folks. If you didn't like the movie then there's not much hope that you'll even care about the special features, but I thought they were interesting enough. My one suggestion is to see the Blooper Reel. Who doesn't like blooper reels? There are also the basic "Making-of" featurettes that are nice to watch and even insightful at times, as well as an Audio Commentary with the director.

Overall, the movie was pretty good, and the DVD features are nice in addition.

Summary: The trailer has most of the worthwhile scenes
Review: MIB II is worse than the first, which I thought was just okay. This movie has a flimsy story, good special effects, some funny scenes, and a story that weakens as the movie goes on. I like Tommy Lee Jones, love Will Smith; but MIB II only gets a C grade from me. If you want to see Will Smith in a better movie, I recommend Independence Day, or even better: Enemy of the State

Review: i am not one of those reviewers that just writes a sentence or two about the movie that is stupid and unhelpful.

But this is just a bad, bad, boring movie, and that is simply all to say.
