Summary: One of the Greatest Comic Movies Ever!
Review: With the exception of the Tim Burton's Batman, this is the greatest superhero movie ever. You can't beat it when a superhero has to face someone with the same powers as them. And this movie has three people like that. Of course I do have problems with how they kill off the characters which is why I have to take one star away from the overall rating. Plus you also have the subplot of whether Clark wants to be with Lois or retain his superpowers. The scene when Clark gets his powers back and goes back to the diner and beats that guys ass is so awesome. You can just say that's guys in it now. THAT'S IT I'M DONE!

Summary: Don't believe the reviews that say this is better...
Review: Though bouyed by the prospect of seeing Supe and Lois in bed together, this stage-bound sequel cannot match the scale or gravitas of the Richard Donner SUPERMAN. The opening at the Eiffel Tower is marred by cheesy effects and the convenience of Lois just walking past cops (er... gendarmes) and up the Eiffel steps. The big action sequence with the Krypton villains "blowing away" the Metropolis street is painful due to the very obvious backlot-ty style set. The first Superman did such a better job of selling us that the movie was taking place in a real world, this one reeks of first England (check the little boy's accent when Zod and crew face off against small-town "Americans") and then of unbelievable studio sets. Even with all its production design problems and rather limply directed scenes, the story itself manages to entertain and Christopher Reeve brings an amazing naturalness to Clark. A weak three stars, to be sure.

Summary: The only sequel worthy of the original!
Review: Superman is back in this first (and only quality) sequel to the one that started it all. The man of steel is up against 3 villains from his home world who have been trapped in the "phantom zone", and all heck breaks loose here on Earth! This movie is packed with great special effects, and one of my most favorite scenes ever in a movie....when the villain Ursul cries out "Superman" and proceeds to throw a bus full of people at him. Great camp, a great cast and a true successor to the original. Buy Superman and Superman II, but don't waste your money on the other 3!

Summary: Superman All The Way!!!
Review: This has to be one of the greatest Superman of all times. It has everything like action,adventure,romance and some humor.Superman sure had his hands full with those 3 powerful villans,but he stopped them anyway.Besides the first movie,this one rocks big time. Too bad I can't say the same for III and IV.

Summary: A worthy sequel to the Original. But...
Review: Superman the Movie opens with Jor-El (Marlon Brando) condeming the three criminals into the Phantom Zone. This of course serves as the base to Superman II-and serves it well. Christopher Reeve returns as the Man of Steel, who once more shows his affections to Lois Lane, (Margot Kidder) and to the point of giving up his superpowers for her. Laudable, but most ill timed, since the three criminals of the late great planet Krypton escape from the Phantom Zone by a nuclear detonation in space. Once free, General Zod (Terence Stamp), the mute Non (Jack O'Halloran), and the beautiful-yet evil-Ursa (Sarah Douglas), set out to conquer Earth. Generally, the movie has the fine elements of the Original, and are carried over smoothy into this sequel. Also, the performace of Christopher Reeve is, once more, an inspiration for all the see. But...it is my suspicion that some of grandure of the Original was lost when Richard Donner was removed by the Salkinds, and replaced by Richard Lester (Hard Days Night is his claim to fame???). I think what Lester tries to do is inject an ill dose of comedy into the movie-of which only serves as a type of poison (Case in point, the guy talking on the phone during the Kryptonian induced hurricane: Silly). This kind of ATTEMPTED comedy only gets worse come Superman III. But again, overall, the movie is very good, and worthy of a place on the VHS/DVD libary of any home. Parting thought: Speaking of Superman III, like Darth Vader turning good in Return of the Jedi, I think Ursa turning good, and getting together with Superman would have made a fine story for the third movie, if you ask me...

Summary: A Super Sequel
Review: "Superman II" is a terrific sequel to the first classic adventure. Picking up where the first film left off, "SMII" explores themes from the original film as well as continuing the Superman saga with bold new ideas and challenges for the Man of Steel. Christopher Reeve returns as well as Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor and Margot Kidder as Lois Lane. Joining the cast are a trio of super villians exiled from Superman's home planet of Krypton. They venture to Earth and soon after realize that they are immortal and have incredible powers. They then begin to terrorize the planet and it's up to Superman to stop them, but can he stop three villians who are just as powerful as him? This film has many wonderful developments and suprises. The love theme between Lois and Clark/Superman is explored more deeply here. In this installment Superman faces a personal crisis as he's torn between his duties as the Man of Steel and his true love; Lois Lane. He's forced to choose between the two; keep his powers or be human and be in love. The result is very interesting. There is more action in this sequel than in the original film and it's a fresh alternative. It's certainly fun to see Superman hurtle bad guys through the skies of Metropolis and saving the world with his super strength and heat ray vision. The Man of Steel is much tougher this time. The film has much of the spark of the first film, but not as much impact or awe. There is still a great deal of wonderful character development though the sequel has much more of an "action plot" than the original. The first film was powerful because it focused on beginnings of Superman, the sequel demands more from the audience, which is okay. We should already know the back story before the fun starts because the film is very fast paced, but even if we haven't seen the first film, there's a brief re-cap at the beginning of the film. A good description I've heard of "Superman II" is "Superman I with more action and a better plot" and that's probably right, however I prefer the majesty and scope of the original. Still, this sequel is as good as a "Superman" sequel can get and it's a worthy companion to the the first film. Together they compliment each other much like the first two "Godfather" films, which makes sense seeing that the first two "Godfathers" and first two "Supermans" were written by Mario Puzo. "Superman II" is a rare sequel in that it nearly equals the quality of the original, and in terms of story and style it is definitly one of better produced sequels ever ranking up there with "The Empire Strikes Back" and "The Godfather Part II".

Review: I like this movie so much i saw it over a 100 times (and i'm not kidding). When I was 8 years my mom & dad taped this for me when it was aired on tv. I didn't get the subplots and so on because i was only 8, but man i loved that movie. (especialy the part where superman brakes general zod's hand, and the part where superman returns to the restaurant to kick that truck-driver 's ...!!) Now I like it because it does remind me of my childhood and how i did enjoyed it everytime!!!! But it's a good movie for that time anyway, i mean it's 20 years ago...

Summary: An Entertaining Movie!
Review: This was a movie that I enjoyed very much. Superman becomes mortal after deciding to make Lois Lane his life love. The timing could not have been worse. Three villains who have the same super powers as Superman are released by an atomic blast. They were imprisoned by Superman's father on the planet Krypton.When the three forces of evil reach planet earth no one is safe.There is no foce on earth that can stand up to these three.Superman reverses the process that made him mortal and does battle with the three evil invaders. Superman finally prevails in the end. Gene Hackman plays a good role as Lex Luthor. The movie pits the forces of good against the forces of evil. A must see movie.

Summary: "Superman II Is The Best Sequel Ever!"
Review: "Superman II" is the best sequel ever! But I agree with some other reviewers that the music isn't nearly as good as in the first movie and that alone lowers the quality of the movie a notch. I also agree that Richard Donner did a much better job as Director in the first movie than Richard Lester did in this movie. I liked Richard Lester fine for "A Hard Days Night," but this is Superman, not the Beatles! (I also would like to see the complete Richard Donner version of this movie--before he was fired--if it exists.) But that's the bad news. The good news is that Christopher Reeve is just as good as in the first movie, and so is Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor. And the trio of supervillains from Krypton--especially English actor Terrence Stamp--are the perfect super advesaries for Superman. The scenes at Superman's Fortress of Solitude are sensational, and so is the ending. I'm still not sure which is better, Superman I or Superman II, so I bought both!
