Summary: Reminds Me Of Generations (ST 7)
Review: Okay was I the only one who felt like they were watching Generations all over again? What did Paramount do recycle from that movie into this one? Where is all the villians we've come to know and love? I mean they got First Contact right with the Borg. (A Favorite among us Star Trek fans). Why couldn't they get it right the second time around? Well it is an odd trek film and for some reason odd number films don't seem to do well. But still no excuse.

It seems though that the cast will wait three years before making the next trek film. They have reportdly stated it will be their last and pick up from where Insurrection left off. My advice: If the next film will be your last why not have Q as the villian? I mean after all, hes one of our favorite characters and has been with ST since TNG came on the air. And still makes appearences on Voyager.

Summary: We can go elsewhere for a rating of the movie...
Review: We can go elsewhere for a rating of the movie, how about saving this space for a review of the DVD? How's the encoding? UI? What additional features does the DVD provide over the VHS tape? How many video/audio tracks are there? Is there widescreen and pan&scan? How many languages is the movie encoded in? (they certainly don't provide enough information here at Amazon, so how about providing it ourselves? I don't have the DVD yet, since it's not out, but when those of us who get it right away can share with others...) Thanks!

Summary: Decent but not special
Review: Let's be honest, the people that say this was the best Trek yet are probably just wanting that to be true so bad they have convinced themselves it's true. By the same note, the people who say it was the worst Trek, or even the worst film of the year are just mad that the film was not as good as it could have or should have been. The film lies somewhere in between. It's worth watching, and if you own Star Trek:TMP, Star Trek V, or even Generations, then you should own this too.

Summary: A typical odd numbered Star Trek Movie!
Review: Looking back through the Star Trek films, one notices that the even numbered movies are the ones that stand out to Trekkers. No one can forget the nail-biting battle in the Mutara Nebula in the second film. Everyone quotes the famous line, "Well a double dumb butt on you" from the fourth movie. Then there was the sad farwell to the old crew in the sixth film. Finally the amazing special effects and action-packed battles in the eighth film. Star Trek: Insurrection did not have any remmeberable lines or action scenes that Trekkers would relish in for years to come like the examples just mentioned. Aside from the touching scene when Jordi recovers his eye sight after being born blind, I can't remember any other scenes from the movie and its just four months after I saw the movie. The special effects were a disappointment compared to those of First Contact. The story line was uncreative and lacked substance. It kept the movie from dragging on, but it also made the movie move too quickly. I got the impression that the movie was about 45 minutes long. It did have good comic touches which have been a good tradition in the Star Trek film series. All the Trekker can do with this is know that the ongoing theme of even-numbered Trek movies are better and use this movie as a stepping stone to a movie with a more exciting plot and special effects that are worthy of the nam Star Trek!

Summary: Insurrection is great, it just followed a better movie.
Review: There is all this talk about how Insurrection isn't as good as First Contact. About how the bad guys are no good. What were they to do? Use the Borg again? So everyone is saying that every Star Trek movie from now on must have the Borg be the bad guys? Insurrection is a great movie. The creators had to move away from the Borg. It has great humor and special effects. Sometimes Trekky fans are too worked up on how it "should be" and will not look at something open-minded. I got in an argument with a friend about how it would be impossible to fly the Enterprise with a joystick with the computer off-line. I told him it would be impossible to fly the enterprise at all. This is science fiction my friend. I think this was a very good movie. It just followed a better movie. That is all that is wrong with it.

P.S. In responce to another reviewer's opinion, I never wanted to slap Data, I thought Data was better in this movie than in First Contact.

Summary: This Movie has Humor, and it has A PUNCH TO IT!!
Review: This Movie has it all, Humor, action, drama, and a GREAT plot. Yes all trekers will love this, but the average movie goer will also enjoy this movie. This is a movie for the WHOLE family. THE PLOT: Captain Picard (Stewart) and his crew up for another movie (the Third one) the main plot is Data (Brent Spiner) the andirod shorts a circut while on a top secret mission he becomes damaged. So the Enterprise goes to investigate, when they recover Data (Spiner) they go to the suface to invatigate why Data goes crazy, they find a HOLO SHIP in the middle of the lake LOOKING exactly like the Village of the B'ako. The Sona and the Federation want the B'akos planet because it is the long lost FOUNTAIN of YOUTH. And the rest of the movie, the rest of the movie is, well you will just have to watch it for yourself. JUST remember it is the BEST STAR TREK MOVIE YET.

GREAT ACTION GREAT PLOT GREAT HUMOR and great MOVIE

Summary: A Real Dissapointment
Review: I've grown up as a Trekkie and remember waching the old TV Series as a child with my father. I've always thought the magic of Star Trek was maintained very well over the years and through the various spin-offs, with only occassional minor let downs. I tried to be as open about Insurrection as possible, but found it a complete dissapointment. The story felt pieced together with a variety of unrelated issues appearing once and not being built upon at any other point in the film. There were far too many scenes that were not only predictable, but had an element of, dare I say, being on the hokey-side. The special effects were over-rated as I found many of the ships to actually look plastic, while the cinematography gave the film a MTV look. This film did not, in my opinion, carry the weight or impact of its predecessors. While it may be worth completing the collection for some die-hards, this one is waiting for the release of the earlier films.

Summary: Great movie,wrong villians.
Review: Once again the Star Trek series has another notch in its belt. And keeps on going strong. This was a great movie, super effects and a easy to follow story. But I thought that the introduction of two unknown alien races was the wrong thing to do in a Star Trek feature film. The die hard fans will have no problem with new faces and names, but the casual fan will be uninterested, and wonder who the heck is this person? Thats why i think Star Trek First Contact did better than this film. Everyone loves the Borg!!All in all a great movie to watch. Cant wait till the next one.
