Review: I recently saw this movie for the first time. I had never paid attention to the story content or the actors. I was amazed to find that this is a GOOD movie, one that I will be adding to my collection soon. The Diva and Ruby were the absolute best! They really made the movie for me. This is a movie filled with incredible visual effect and comedic surprises. Thanks for making it Luc!

Summary: 6 Stars! if possible. Absolutely my All Time Favorite
Review: What a ride! This movie has quickly become my all time favorite. There is so much here to love, the story, the sets, the characters, the music (GET THE SOUNDTRACK), the weapons, the cars. Everything was strange and new it this film. Luc Besson is a master; and, The Fifth Element is his best yet. And, no matter what you hear about Ruby Rod (Chris Tucker) being "over the top", the movie would not be the same without his outlandish personality. Don't miss out on this one. If possible, view it for the first time on a big screen tv with a good surround system.

Summary: Quirky, Fun, Great DVD master
Review: This could have been a 5-star movie except for the Chris Tucker character (Ruby Rhod). He comes close to making the movie unwatchable and, at the very least, is certainly embarrassing.The plot is [maybe overly] simple but the screenwriting, direction, and acting raise the story to highly entertaining levels. Most of the peripheral roles are acted with an outstanding feel for the flavor of the film and I have to believe that this is a result of Besson's ability to express his vision to the cast. For such a goof-ball film, most of the acting (and it's counterpart, scriptwriting) is very good. I would compare this film to The Matrix except the dissimilarities are at least equal to the similarities. Similarities: Futuristic Sci-Fi with good cinematography and sound and a great transfer to DVD. Dissimilarities: 5th El has a sense of humor and doesn't take itself so gosh-darn seriously; way better script-writing; way better acting; plot way easier to follow (Matrix spends over 50% of the dialog explaning the silly plot to the audience); way better internal consistency; way less pretentious; and so on. Favorite scenes: After Zorf demos the ZF1 to the Mangalore thugs, they play around with some of them, basically causing general screw-ups and mischief. The Diva's performance! Any scene WITHOUT Chris Tucker!

Summary: Better Than Star Wars Episode 1
Review: If you're a Scif Fi buff this movie is right up you're alley, Visualy it is wonderful to watch. The chase scenes in the city are incredible to watch, there is so much going on. The look of this movie is very fun. For example the uniforms of the McDonald Workers with there Wonderwoman Style Dresses and golden arch hats. The costume design is great. I can't say enough good things about this movie, I LOVED IT, it's on my Top Ten Favorates!

Review: I loved this movie, acting was great, The great Milla Jovovich (LeLoo)is truly the gem of the movie. I can't help but say that I just fell in love with her acting. I had never heard of her before, but she is great, especially when it comes to acting out emotions, usually, actors blow it when it comes to crying and such but she does it beautifully! You just want to jump in the screen and hold her when she cries! Excellent movie a deffinate must have if you are a Sci-Fi lover. I saw the TV edited version so I am ordering the full version right now, I reccomend you do the same!

Summary: 5th Element IS what Sci Fi movies are about.
Review: 5th Element has a great story, characters and cinematic execution. The best attribute is the dialogue. Favorite lines; Bruce Willis as Dallas Korben: 'Nice hat.' and 'Anybody else want to negotiate?'; Gary Oldman as Zorg, 'If you want something done...do it yourself..Yeah!'. Of course these have to be seen in context to appreciate the ironic humor. The best character is the multi-vocal chord equiped DIVA who performs one of the most appealing musical sequences ever put on film and demonstrates such touching humanity. 5th Element is able to plunge the viewer into a totally fresh and alien experience. If real sci fi is your cup of tea this is one of the finest examples on film. If sci fi is not to your liking, well, to bad for you.

Review: Complete poo! Buy this movie at your peril. It starts out really nicely in a Stargate-y style "lets'decode the hyroglyphs and discover aliens behind the egyptians" type way which is ok and rapidly deteriates with flying 1950's style cars. Chris Tucker is OK but his character is embarrassing - as well as the horrible diva bit near the end. What was the menace? you'll never find out and if the super being is so super, why does she spend most of the time drop kicking baddies? I bought this and feel robbed of two of the most emetic hours of my life - absolute pony! Obvious brain ticking to work out how to activate the machine at the end when my son of 4 knew! Good bit when Chris Tucker flounces out of scene after being startled by the young priest right at the end. Total bollocks tho :(

Review: Did you notice how the actors were all portraying REAL people that you've seen before? The only thing different was the technology, but they were using it the same way we do today...like so what. The Bruce Willis character was a cab-driver, yes, but more appropos to the story-line was that he was the only man that the military establishment felt was qualified to save the human race. That in itself was good for 3 or 4 one-liners. There is so much material here. And how 'bout that street vendor in the floating junk? Kinda like the street vendors in Manhattan, except at your high-rise window. After all, everyone and everything flies and has a trajectory of some sort, including the plot. There are so many memorable characters and plot lines under simultaneous development throughout the film, you HAVE to see it again to find out how this or that other character turns out. And did you miss the hilarious comment the General makes, trying to be helpful, as he hears the radio announcer trying to describe the invaders? "That would be a Mangaloy." So matter-of-factly, almost died laughing, rolling on the floor, waking up the neighbors, going into cardiac arrest, nearly having an aneurism before the film even finished. By the way, Oldman won't perform anything like this in another role. "Wanna get something done?....do it yourself!" The perfect tyrant, except that he's human enough to have to be saved from choking on a cherry. If you see this film and not notice anything new, then stop seeing it so often; you'll notice more new bits each time. And the messianic attitude...well, why CAN'T the supreme being be a woman? She is, by definition, perfect. And how would a priest behave in these times? Unnerved, just like the actor portrayed. This is Chaucer for the new millennium. Like the Wife of Bath, these characters will stick in your memory.
