Summary: Great movie!
Review: This is one of the movies that I re-whatch the most. It is one of the few movies that actually puts you into a working science fiction world, Star Wars is one of the few other movies that do this. The Special effects are fun and origional, same with the futuristic inventions and costumes. The only problem is Chris Tucker can get annoing and the story goes a little downhill after the Deva scene.

Summary: A great tongue-in-cheek SF comedy
Review: It's probably billed as science fiction rather than comedy, but it fits both classifications in my opinion. The comedy is more of the satiric make-you-smile variety than of the laugh-so-hard-you-need-to-rewind type -- sort of on a par with the humour in 'Star Trek IV' (the one with the whales), only more of it. This is definitely a film that doesn't take itself too seriously. A lot of the futuristic look appears to be borrowed from 'Bladerunner' (the flying Oriental eatery, the monstrous Zorg building, et cetera), but none of the associated darkness came along. The picture borrows thematic elements from all over the place, in fact -- even from the 'Love Boat' -- and the result is outstanding. Ian Holm as the priest is hilarious, and Chris Tucker is jaw-droppingly outrageous. And if you didn't think the ultimate human being came in a model with hot-orange dreadlocks, think again. This is an excellent film to watch on a night when you just want to settle back on the couch with some munchies, something cold to drink, and be entertained. (But if it's milk, it might just come out your nose, so watch out!)

Summary: Talk About Out Of This Universe!
Review: Luc Besson's greatest work yet! It's a little odd, but still..Bruce Willis, who plays Major Korben Dallas, a New York cab driver, is hilarious. This is what I have longed imagined what the world of the future would be like--flying cars, another world in space...like The Jetsons catoon, only with live people. The stroy's pretty good. Lots of thrills and zanny monster effects. But other than that, The Fifth Element is an action-pakced...edge of your seat thriller! Sic-fi fans I promise you this, you will not be disappointed in this fast-paced thriller.

Summary: Willis's best performance prior 6th Sense, didn't take much
Review: The fifth element is a high paced action sci-fi flick with just the right amount of spices to give it a unique yet dejavuic flavor. A mix of several classic sci-fi themes with a pinch of originality, the fifth element is buy worthy. There are however, two major drawbacks that brought down my score a half point each. Numero uno, the scene with the pyramids at the end seemed very, very cliche, i hoped for something a little more original. Number 2, Chris Tucker's performance as the hideously annoying radio guy was so agitating it defied the very strands of logical thought. He's a good comedian, but when you're trying to make a good sci-fi movie don't add someone like Tucker. His loud, explosive type of comedy puts a very modern print on a so-called futuristic movie. Rent first, buy later.

Summary: Millions of dollars for a good laugh...
Review: This is what this movie offers you. It's no a classic, but has its good moments. TUcker's character is the lowest part of the movie, overacting, annoying, ennerving. The rest is good, and Willis is charismatic in this one.

Summary: One of my alltime favorites
Review: This movie is visually spectacular! I have probably watched the movie 30+ times since it came out in theatres and i don't seem to get bored of it. The whole futuristic setting is so much fun to watch. I totally recommend this dvd to anyone who owns a dvd player!

Summary: Extremely Entertaining...
Review: The Fifth element has many flaws. The creature effects, to put it bluntly, stink; the special effects are nothing extraordinary; the acting is quirky. The plot seems ripped off from other films. But this movie has a certain appeal that many other similar films don't -- it is extremely entertaining.

The actors are visually engaging and appear to be having lots of fun in their roles. The movie is bright, colorful, and filled with lots of strange if bizarre action sequences. The music is odd but also engaging, the humor works well with the movie's overall attitude. I don't expect this film to become a classic, but it's great fun that can be watched over and over again...

Summary: He's on a mission to save the world.
Review: I didn't really know what to expect when I first saw "The Fifth Element". And during the film I was aware of having a great time but also of frequently being over awed by the effects and general cinematography. This film is what Pop Art should be, fun, glossy and hard edged. As it turned out I went to see it again after a week's delay, simply because I wanted to recapture the feeling.

Luc Besson directed this wonderful piece of eye candy but a lot of the credit should also go to the set designer and the special effects crew. These people definitely pushed the envelope for science fiction films. The casting was also inspired. Milla Jovovich as Leeloo was an outstanding choice. She may not have much acting experience but it didn't show. Bruce Willis playing Korben Dallas was up to his usual cheeky tricks. And I want to strongly pull against the tide of public opinion and give a big salute to Chris Tucker for his portrayal of the manic broadcast personality, Ruby Rhod. I was giggling at his wonderful antics for days afterwards.

While the plot has more holes than my underwear, I could not care less. I'm not the sort of person who sits through films complaining about the impossibility of events or avidly spotting discontinuities. Isn't it better to suspend your inner skeptic and enjoy the show? Besides if logic were applied ruthlessly to this film there wouldn't be much left, which would be a crying shame.

The story is a relatively simple one, involving a threat to life kind by an ultimate evil which is opposed by the slim hope engendered by an alien weapon. This weapon unfortunately requires five elements to function. So we have dramatic tension developing between the henchmen of Evil, headed by Zorg, a moral vacuum masquerading as a business man. He is played in a truly bizarre fashion by Gary Oldmam. On the side of good, life, beauty and love we have Cornelius, a mildly ineffectual priest, an ex-fighter jock come cab driver called Korben Dallas and a comic side kick in the form of Rudy Rhod, a man of many ensembles. The line between the weapon's elements and the good guys is blurred by Leeloo, a perfectly stunning red head who seems to play a major part in both roles.

Most of the film is spent running around in fabulous locations, sometimes dark and brooding and at other times as sumptuous as a 17th century French palace. We are treated to fist fights, aliens, gun battles, concert hall arias, spaceship explosions and an unending stream of witty comebacks. It's enough to set the blood racing and will keep you on the edge of your seat for so long your cheeks will fall asleep. Mark this film prediction down, "The Fifth Element will become a cult classic".

Summary: One of the Better Sci-Fi Movies!
Review: Hey, I'm not really sure why everyone seemed to have a problem with this movie. I liked it. Bruce Willis was enjoyable as a futuristic cab-driver-turned-hero and Milla Jovovich is good as the alien girl who is the key to saving the world. The whole cast was great, the story was good, and as for the special effects --- well, they were fantastic. See this movie. It was great.
