Summary: Wild Ride
Review: When The Fifth Element was first released, it was received with love and hatred....it bombed in the U.S but was a massive hit in Europe and Australasia. Thats the thing about this movie, it is a foreign movie. This movie is french french FRENCH!! It is quirky, bizzare and downright hypnotic. I refuse to beleive that someone did not crack a smile at how different ad explosive this film was.

The film is set hundreds of years in the future and "evil" is heading towards Earth, and the elements of earth, water, fire and wind need to be combined with a fifth element to save the world. But things eventually get complicated leaving a retired military expert and a bisexual DJ to save the world. Now, you see what I mean! No American could come up with a movie such as this! It is a complete joy to see this movie unfold.

And it is all thanks to Luc Besson. He brings this movie to life with his bright colours and smooth, relaxed angles which create a world of hypnotic feel and energy.

This film is different, it is VERY different. And if the execs. are mad of at it, well what to you expect when you give $90 million to a french director?

Crazy, bizarre, energetic, hypnotic, sexy, rude, insane....these are the words that describe this amazing film.

Summary: Easily One Of The Worst Movies I've Ever Seen
Review: Horrible story, horrible acting (Bruce Willis playing...Bruce Willis), horrible obtrusive music. The whole thing has a cheap Euro feel to it that never lets up. Save your money, save your time...don't rent or buy this!

Summary: The Fifth Element
Review: Not very deep - but visuals and soundtrack work beautifully to create a mood of foreboding and set a colorful stage for a fairy tale like saga of the ultimate battle between good and evil. A historical link to the society of ancient Egypt and an early 20th century archeology team bring an air of mystery. Bruce Willis is in his element playing himself as a cabbie ex-army guy who must save the world (alla Die-Hard). Gary Olsen does a fantastic job as quircky villan allied with the Evil One. Although targeting an American audience this is clearly a French movie...tenuous plot with eye-popping imagery, cool costumes, glorious sets, and wild characters, woven into a 90 minute tapestry of sight and sound by the minimalist, bordering on subsonic, soundtrack. You'll either love it for what it is or hate it as shallow eurotrash Pop. The DVD image is of superior quality and images are are weel rendered, crisp, with rich and vivid color with no obvious artifacts. The surround sound is stupendous and the use of low frequencies for some scenes sends shivers down your spine. My only minor technical gripe is that some of the CGI scenes in space are too low in contrasts and color banding can be seen (over compression of the color palatte) - this is a perfectionists gripe and most people won't even notice it. In terms of acting every one did a good job. As far as casting goes, the character of the President was not the right guy - someone a bit older a bit more serious would have been better. Also I could have done without the taxi/police chase scene but otherwise a great movie. If you love French movies like (Big Blue, Professional, Messenger, etc.) or are die-hard Willis or Scifi-action fans, you'll be glad you own it and will definitely use your "Moolti Pahss" and watch it multiple times.

Summary: Green?....Super Green.
Review: Okay. Movie critics need to get a life and realize movies are a viewing experience. Not every movie has social impact or is made to solve the world's problems. This is a Bruce sci-fi film. And I am a Sci-fi fan as well as a Bruce fan (Don't miss 6th Sense or Unbreakable as well as my all time favorite Armageddon). From the spectacular color (rivals Braveheart), the perfectly entwined soundtrack (if you've read my other reviews you know I'm huge on audio/visual), and the interpretation of the future (right there with Bladerunner), this DVD will enthrall you. While Americans are used to stark, hard edged angles in a sci-fi flick, the French director Luc Besson uses smoothed angles and brilliant colors to depict his futuristic vision. The depth of the city scenes equals Bladerunner. Best of all, he cast small bit part but recognizable actors in most roles which had me saying, "I know those guys! Who are they?" Mucho kudos to Gary Oldman who plays the greatest villian of the future! His performance ranks with Alan Rickman (Die Hard, Quigly Down Under). Mila Jovovitch is fantastic as the unknowing savior of the human race (too bad she did Joan de Arc). There is plenty of tongue and cheek. My favorite is the druggy trying to rob Bruce ("Give me the casssssssssshhhhh" you have to see this). Chris Tucker plays Ruby Rod, a radio show host that is blantantly a spoof of Prince. Dresses better though. He is the perfectly flamboyant counterpart to Bruce's hero. Scatter in some strange humans, some violent aliens, Evil approaching the earth in the form of a planetoid, Oldman as the unwitting villian, and Bruce as the hero, and you would have a nice film. Add in exceptional color and a clashingly synchronistic soundtract that puncuates odd moments, and you have a DVD you must see. If you love Bruce like I do, own this. Trust me. I am never wrong.

Summary: Engulfing, Epic Fantasy
Review: This movie blew me away, not only with it's spectacular visuals, but also with it's superb cast and a solid, classic story. Milla Jovovich is absolutely adorable, and Bruce Willis nails his role. Gary Oldman's character must be one of the weirdest, charmingly evil personalities I've ever seen on the screen.

Just one problem: it's too short! I could've sat through 3 hours of this! Maybe we'll get a sequel.

Summary: Spectacular visuals and sound.
Review: Sights and sounds are awesome. Bruce Willis delivers his usual quick wit type of character. Mila provides the eye candy. Movie has it all. Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Romance (Well sort of), Car chase, Bombs, Guns. If you can imagine it, it is in this movie in one form or another.

Summary: a mind-boggling cosmic explosion
Review: this is one of the best SciFi films of all times, unfortunately it's highly underrated. This one is proof that you can take a quite stereotyped plot and turn it into a real masterpiece, packed with action, comedy and spoof (there's a lesson to be learned here for Herr Emmerich!). For those who haven't noticed: this movie doesn't take itself seriously, so why do you??

Summary: Umm... Could I give that a six?
Review: This is a masterpiece movie. I can't even make a good description when I try, but I'll do some of it that I can. It even has a good cast. Bruce Willis (also on STRIKING DISTANCE, ARMAGEDDON [This was better by far], and THE SIXTH SENSE), Milla Jovovich, Chris Tucker, and more.

There are a lot of interesting things about this. But I warn you that at times the frequency used on the part with the diva sounds really bad and the radio guy (Chris Tucker) is kinda annoying, though it wasn't to me. Like the part when he was like, "Do you have more than a two-word vocabulary?" and at other parts he acts kinda gay.

I was interested every second. It's taken place in Egypt in 1914 at the beginning, but put to the future later. At one part, It goes to the future. At one part the character that Bruce Willis does finds Leelo (Milla Jovovich) and she doesn't know ANY english. Her part was excellent. After awhile she learned some of it.... Anyways, it's nice to see. That end part will always be saved for when you see it because you should find out when you watch. Very interesting. Especially when Chris Tucker's role was doing that part when his life depended on just a match.

Essential. I recommend this to EVERYONE.

Summary: One of the most underated movies of all time
Review: i think i read somewhere a long time ago, that luc besson, started writing the script for this movie wen he was 13. This movie came out around the same time as batman and robin, and got no attention because of it. But this movie is SO FREAKING GOOD that it angers me that it did not do better than it did. It has a GREAT GREAT plot, great acting, and it's a fun movie to see every time. this was one of the first DVDs i bought and im happy i did. I love this movie

Summary: Just Plain Fun!!!
Review: Like at least one other reviewer I didn't expect much from the film when I sar previews for it. I only saw it when it came on HBO but it is a superb romp of a WAY over the top sci-fi-action-comedy. While the latter Batman films went for a living comic book feel, I think this movie hits that mark much better. Batman (apart from Adam West's version) is largely a dark, disturbed character not given to comedy. Nearly every character in this is played 2 or 3 times over the top and the vision of the future has enough twists on familiar movie fare (like "green" being a synonym for "awesome") that an essentially cliched story (at its most base elements) becomes tons of fun. The DVD doesn't have tons of features like commentary and outtakes so I'll leave the tape vs. disc stuff to videophiles. However I don't think this is a renter, it's a definite BUY!
