Summary: Hmmm, look at "Them", "Starship Troopers" and "Aliens"
Review: And the last film listed will excite you most of all.

Aliens is by the greatest monster/ adventure sci-fi in film history. It deserves the same credit most other more well known sci-fis get; (i.e. Star Wars, E.T. and Close Encounters).

Cameron proves again and again that his style of the best in film history. From "The Terminator" to "Titanic," most of his works have redefined cinema.
He's definately learned alot about sequels since his (first) most failed project, "Pirahna 2".

Keep punching out the great movies Cameron.

Summary: Best of the series
Review: I didn't like the first movie all that much because I thought it was drawn out, .... boring really. Yet this movie laid the first one to waste. Had to be dragged kicking and screaming to go see it ... cause I loathed the first one so much, but was pleasantly surprised. EVERYONE is a great actress or actor. No second rate performances on this one. Even "the kid" is a great actress. Only thing bad to say about it ... the special effects are lacking somewhat. But who cares? In Aliens3 and Resurrection, the special effects are better but the script isn't anywhere near as entertaining. "Game over." "Why don't you put her in charge." "Maybe you haven't been paying attention to current events......' Paxton has some great one liners.

By the way I thought Resurrection[4] was giving this a run for its money 'til they went diving into the cooling tanks. I thought it unraveled quickly after that. Almost as if there are two movies in Resurrection; the first half, stunning, funny, flawless; the second half.... spare me please.

Summary: Bugs and Guns Woo Hoo!!!
Review: Aliens is my favorite of the Alien movies. This movie has everything that Alien fan love: Hundreds of Xenomorphs (the aliens), The Colonial Marines (the coolest military group ever), and the Queen alien. This was an awsome film when it first came out, but the Special Edition makes it 200 times better. The added scenes add so much to the plot. It explains who brought the aliens to the colony (i'm not saying who though). The fight scene between Ripley and the Queen is the coolest fight scene ever. If you haven't seen the Special Edition yet, you should order this now. It'll make you want to throw your old copy in the trash

Summary: A so so DVD
Review: The movie of Aliens on this DVD is really nice. The extra 17 minutes of footage fill in pieces of the plot and make the movie have a better more rounded plot. Almost worth the DVD itself.

However, I said almost...

There are no good extra's on this DVD. No directors commentary, in fact, there are no commentaries at all on this DVD!

What extra's there are on this DVD are pathetic; Some short home footage of the model of the Base and Atmosphere Processor on LV-426, and how the Face Hugger, and Chest Burster mechanics work and a concept of the Alien Queen. There are also some stills from the movie and that's about it. I expected a whole lot more.

As a movie, I would rate the 5 out of 5, but as a DVD, only 2 out of 5.

Mr. James Cameron can make some really good movies, but his DVD's really stink in comparison to what other directors put on their DVD's.

If your a hardcore Aliens fan, get this, other than that, spend your money on the Gladiator DVD since it is a much better DVD.

Summary: ALIENS!
Review: How much do I like this movie? I went to see it in the theater twice! I bought a laser disc player just to own the director's cut version that James Cameron put together! If "Alien" was the haunted house movie in outer space, then "Aliens" is the war movie in outer space! How good is this movie? Well, you do not even see an alien for the first hour of the film and you are still on the edge of your seat! Once the action starts it becomes non-stop at the end of this one! Every time you think things cannot get worse, they get worse! The exciting conclusion culminates in the unthinkable: hand-to-hand combat between Ripley and the Queen Alien! Plus, one of the great "hero laughging in the face of danger" lines of all-time! Great ensemble cast of space marines, at least until they get the crap knocked out of them! And the special effects are mostly guys in alien suits and a whole lot of jump cuts! Great action film!

Summary: Spoilers enclosed, read on only if you dare
Review: I admit that when I first saw Aliens, my heart was pounding. Of
course, I was around 16 at the time. Now that I have seen it 3
times or so, I can see where it all went wrong. That was at one
of the climactic scenes near the end where Ripley starts
to foolishly unload all of her ammunition at the alien hive.
Why on earth would someone deplete all their ammunition into an
area that was only minutes away from being destroyed by a
nuclear blast? Why would
someone further risk their own life in addition to the 12 year
old child they had just saved? There were more scenes in the
original that I could have done without, like the 'Get away from
her...' finale with the alien queen. It was over-the-top,
root for the good guy style writing.
In addition, I could have done without the extra scene of Bill
Paxton saying 'I am the ultimate...' for five minutes
straight.

I admit that I let my curiosity cloud my logic.
No, i don't think the extra 20 minutes is worth it. Just buy
the original, edited version and allow your teenage fright to
live on untarnished.

Summary: Science fiction, war, and not horror
Review: First, something has to be clarified. This is not a horror movie, though some scenes contain the "genre" tricks. This is not an action movie. But its pace can outclass many top actions. This is a war movie. It is about a military operation done in the 23rd Century. Therefore we can say that it is a combination of war and science fiction, a superlative one.

Why isn't it a five star movie? First, there is some extra footage, which is good. However the extra LV-426 scene is unnecessary. It decreases the suspense when Gorman's pronounced poignant "We have lost contact with LV 426" sentence. Secondly, the movie ends in a too much Hollywood fashion (Maybe it is kind of a trademark for whole series). The queen never gives up, reappears where she is not supposed to be, and at the final scene, Ripley carrying her own weight plus queen's is too much. However the fight with queen, a real climax, is a result of "never-end-the-struggle" approach: I have to confess.

It is definitely the best of the series in North America. However in Europe, where people have grown up with European movies, the first and the third movies are the ones to be labeled as "cult".

Summary: Aliens, In It's Best Of All The Four Films!
Review: Probably James Cameron's best work! This movie is an all time and old favourites to those people who is a fan of the Alien movie series. To dated, this movie still stands out from the rest. While Alien Resurrection is as good as Aliens, but it still never comes close when talking about the film overall mood settings. Furthermore, this DVD boasts THX mastering plus Dolby Surround and Dolby Digital soundtrack. James Horner dark score has always been provoking. Not forgetting that this film is the definitive Director's Cut version, giving the film back it's pivotal moments to its storyline, 17 minutes to be exact. That's plenty to look at. As a proud owner of this DVD from Amazon, my trusted shopping source, I'm recommending this DVD to those who is a loyal fan of the Alien series. Aliens is definitely the best, the only movie that really sets the mood! Two thumbs up!

Summary: tremendous
Review: this is james cameron's second best film, next to the terminator (not T2). and the extra 17 minutes are excellent and add a great amount of understanding to the story, especially as to why ripley is so fond of newt, having not had a chance to see her own daughter grow up, she now has a chance with newt. i think that executives should stay out of movie making processes and let the directors, who know what they wanna see, do the work of art they are so talented at doing.
