Summary: "Signs" better left unseen
Review: "Signs" movie was SUCH a disappointment; a real let-down. After seeing M. Night's fantastic "Sixth Sense", I was really looking forward to this one. All for nothing. "Signs" came across as amaturistic, predictable and not at all scary. Flashlights, bumps in the night ... kinda hokey. And the aliens?!? Looked like the SleeStacks (sp?) from the 1970s "Land of the Lost" (remember that?). I'd love to see M. Night come up with another brillaint hit. This one missed.

Review: this was a great film, and i truly enjoyed it. it wasnt gory, not much special effects, and relied on suspense(which was a good thing) instead of blood and guts and stuff. someone was complaining about how the aliens couldnt open a wooden door. well, #1, the door in the pantry was locked, and #2 the alien smashing on the basement door was just distracting them so another could go down the shaft in the back....so they were smart and i cant believe people are picking the movie apart just because of the aliens. they were creepy, and believable. this movie isnt just about the aliens, they play a minor role in the film....this movie is about faith, and being with your family in times of trouble, etc. i highly reccomend this film.

Review: I was delightfully surprised how good this movie was. I had seen a special on the Discovery Channel a couple of years ago that explained how crop circles were made w/ boards and rope... so they were no longer a mystery... how could "Signs" possibly be stimulating enough to not be laughable?Outstanding performances by Mel Gibson, Joaquin Phoenix, Rory Culkin and Abigail Breslin bring the emotional center of this story to the viewer. You quickly become a member of this family and feel the recent loss of a wife & mother due to a tragic accident. The accident tests the faith of Gibson, who quits his job as the local church Reverend and holds tight to his fervent anger toward God. M. Night Shyamalan is a superb director, but not the best actor. He plays a small, yet crucial role in the film and in contrast to the stellar performances from the rest of the cast, his wooden acting is very distracting. Fortunately, his screen-time is limited and does not do irreparable damage to the rhythm of the story. Shyamalan pays homage to one of the ultimate sci-fi classics, "War of the Worlds," with unclothed aliens with superior technology that have no respect for human life. What seems like a practical joke from local kids, turns out to be a global mystery... crop circles showing up in large numbers overnight, all over the world... and then something more chilling shows up and is captured on global news. The way pranksters have made crop circles in the past is covered in the film, so the story does not expect you to dismiss previous knowledge, but rather acknowledge that many previous crop circles were indeed bogus... but these new ones cannot be ignored. There are some special effects, but they are few and far between... and Shyamalan knows that the unseen is far more horrific than what you can see. The music and sound effects help to make you sit on the edge of your seat and a few scenes had me let out a small scream when I was startled. This is a classic film-going experience and while it is too intense for small children, it is still family friendly. No nudity or sexual inuendo, minimal violence and minor language. I really enjoyed this film and can imagine seeing it again.

Summary: A good movie that is still disappointing
Review: Knowing this movie is made by M. Night Shyamalan, I knew there would be a twist at the end. There was a twist and I was dissappointed by it. This movie is full of crop circles and alien invasions and what the people of earth are doing to react to the aliens. The movie probes possible ways to defeat the aliens and possible reasons why the aliens are here. Then the ending comes. To me, M. Night Shyamalan's aspirations were too low with this movie. He made a point with an ending that really had nothing to do with the previous 100 minutes of the movie. And that is too bad because he is a good filmmaker. But I guess it is unfair to expect another movie as good as the Sixth Sense.

Summary: Glad I didn't pay box office prices!!
Review: Since when did ministers or preachers wear the collar of a Catholic Priest? And if Mel was meant to be a catholic priest, since when did Catholic Priests have wifes and kids?..I wouldn't have thought much about this detail but they kept refering to him as "Father". One other oversite is...If I were going to board a door shut I would do it from the side that the door opens...not the other side. Come on guys...do you think we would be so interested in this rather slow and uneventfull film that we wouldn't notice these obvious oversites? Mel must have been paid very well to agree to this flick because I have never seen him in anything but great stuff...Well except maybe "Air America" and I would pick that one over "Signs" any day.

Summary: Best movie on faith in a long time
Review: The movie has very little to do with Aliens or Science Fiction. The whole theme of the movie is faith and why things happen the way they do. This is a movie that will have you question why you do not have faith in the order of the universe.

Summary: Great movie, weak DVD
Review: First off, I loved this movie. That said, this DVD is weak. The special features are lame and the deleted signs...well...should've stayed deleted. I think the most disappointing thing is that this Vista Series DVD isn't so Vista. If you know the other DVDs in this line (Pearl Harbor, Unbreakable, The 6th Sense, etc), you know that they all have great packaging and sweet special features. This one's packaging is straight up lame. Just the normal DVD case with a DVD and no pack-ins. The other DVDs in this line all are in nice boxes and have a fold out interior with semi-useful packins like nicer booklettes and stills from the movie. None on this one. I'd buy it again (since the movie is so good), but I'm still really disappointed with the implimentation of this DVD.

Review: What are ya'll talking about? this movie was awesome, sure it wasn't perfect, but just the genious story pacing kept me glued to my seat...all 3 times i saw it. And it got better everytime. And at the end.....well..ill just let you see for yourself..whoa

Summary: Great finish to the "trilogy", Sixth Sense/Unbreakable/Signs
Review: There is apparently more to M. Night Shyamalan than you would guess from seeing him in the "making of" documentary included with this DVD (though he IS unexpectedly good in his acting role in the movie itself). He's a screenwriter who appears to have flunked grade school english grammer ("these kind"), but as a director and filmmaker, he has a very elegant visual style, and discipline and craftsmanship Hitchcock would admire. "Signs" is remarkable filmmaking, very intelligent and restrained. My guess is that most of the negative reactions you will see on these pages will come from sixteen-year-olds on an "Armageddon" intravenous drip.

Summary: great suspense!
Review: Signs is one of the best movies that i have seen in a long time, it encompass great suspense with a great specturm of acting to boast. The movie is set in a Pennsylvania farm town where a corn farmer, Mel Gibson (Who is a retired minister who left serving the Lord because his wife died), finds unusual singns made in his corn field one night. Without giving too much of the movie away, these signs pop up all over the world, and an interesting twist that runs throughout the movie is revealed at the end, which brings Mel Gibson back to his pastoral position.
