Summary: Simply Brilliant!
Review: The best Sci-Fi movie ever! For 20 years it's been the best and the title still stands. Once you see this movie you'll be wanting to see more! A perfect movie for any sci-fi collection! This movie will leave you on the edge of your seat through the whole thing. Once I saw it I bought 1&2 right away and already want to see 3& Resurection. I have read Resurection was pretty bad but I'm not saying anythin till I see it my self. It starts of with a couple of people hear a distress call while in space in space on a nearby planet and find an odd space ship. While a couple of people search the ship and find a couple of 'surprises',One member gets a living organism, resembling an octopus, stuck to his face. They bring him back to the ship even without Ripley's aproval. And terror strikes! I'll stop here with the cliffhanging suspense. Hope you enjoy the movie!

Summary: One Of My Favorite Movies!!!!
Review: This is the special DVD that everybody has been waiting for. People say that Aliens is better because it has more action but I still like Alien the best out of the 4 aliens. This is a movie you have to rent or buy on DVD or VHS. Aliens is good but Alien is better. This movie gets 2 thumbs up and 5 stars for sure. If you don't like this movie you have double check to make sure you like it or you don't. I also reccomond watching The Burbs. Aliens is the one with lots of action. If you don't like Alien maybe you will like Aliens better because it has more action.

Summary: Best Alien in the Alien legacy!!!!
Review: I loved this classic movie and now it is on DVD with a cool looking menu. My brother thinks that Aliens (2) is the best but he is wrong. This is the movie that started it all and will be remembered how the aliens started. Some people think this is really scary but it is not even though the traliers freak you out and saying " In Space No One Can Hear You Scream " but the movie is not scary. This is Ridley Scott's best movie out of what he directed like Black Hawk Down but still this is the best movie he directed. But this movie is kind of violent but I would say Alien 3 is the most violent one. I am sorry you can not find this movie for a cheap price But I bought it anyway because this was cool. This does not have many special features but who cares anyway. This movie will dissapoint you like Alien Resurrection did and oh yeah don't watch Alien Resurrection .... So what are you waiting for buy or rent this movie on DVD today.

Summary: "Alien"
Review: Alien (R) *****/5
Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, Veronica Cartwright, Ian Holm, Yaphet Kotto.
Directed by: Ridley Scott.
Synopsis: An terrifying alien is let loose aboard a small ship.
Special Features: Director Commentary, Deleted Scenes, Artwork and Photo Galleries, Original Storyboards, Isolated Original Score, Alternate Music Track, Trailers.
Review: When you get talking about classic sci-fi that is still top notch today you inevitably come to the subject of "Alien". This haunting, atmospheric tale of a small ship which is sent to answer a distress call remains one of the key films in sci-fi history. It is at its heart a monster tale, but frighteningly original. Even the monsters birth is disturbing and new. The crew is relentlessly stalked by the creature that comes aboard. With very little weaponry they must defeat the creature, and get off the ship alive. The cast is chillingly effective and Weaver gets her first chance to shine. Ridley Scott directs with pure atmosphere something that has been absent from films for a long time, and he knows to keep his creature in the shadows most of the time. This film is still as scary today as it was then, and is sure to go down as one of the greatest films of all time. As for the DVD? The "Alien" fans dream. This sucker is wall to wall extras and 3-D menus.

Summary: A masterful blend of science-fiction and horror
Review: Okay, this is R rated and not for kids who will undoubtedly find it too frightening. But it is no less than a classic. There is obvious derivation. IT, THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE was the B movie inspiration. The original was a very stylish low budget movie in itself, but hardly matches Ridley Scott's treatment.

I know of no other movie made before or since that has matched this film both for the science fictional impact and for sheer horror. The mood is set from the beginning, and you know in your heart that this sure isn't STAR WARS! In fact, one could consider this an antithesis to the Lucas films. This is absolutely the dark side of science fiction.

This is not for the extreme sensitive, but there is a depth to this movie. No, it's sure not a "feel good" movie, but those who like an occasional trip to the dark side will find this rewarding.

Summary: People Running In The Dark
Review: ALIEN is probably one of those movies that stretches your imagination to its limit, because its people running around on nice dark sets from an alien we barely ever see... BUT ITS SO DAMN FRIGHTENING! It is extremely tense and this DVD edition is spectacular, some of the best extras I've ever seen taken with great care.

Summary: Set the standard for years to come
Review: Nearly 25 years and people still talk about it. Ridley Scott's all time space odyssey classic, the original Alien. We all know the storyline by now, so I'll get right to the point: all these years later the film still holds up, and it can still terrify the daylights out of anyone. Scott used the claustrophobic set pieces to create an eerie doom-like atmosphere along with an overwhelming sense of dread (much like Tope Hooper used in Texas Chainsaw Massacre). Considering when this movie was made, the Alien is fantasticly designed, and the special effects were great as well. What made the Alien seem so terrifying is that it looks so real, not like in the movies of today which are bloated with over the top CGI effects, the Alien looks real because it is real, and that is what real horror is all about. Sigourney Weaver's career was catapaulted after Alien was released, and the well rounded cast, including Tom Skerrit, Ian Holm, the late Yapphet Kotto, and John Hurt as the unlucky birth ground for the Alien all give terrific performances. The DVD extras are worth noting as well, the deleted scenes offer new insight to the film, and Ridley Scott's commentary is great as well. All in all, this is a landmark film of science fiction that no one should ever miss.

Review: I just read in a review of this movie, that states that the special effects look cheesy. Excuse me they do not. Just because they're old effects, people just have to say that they look bad. They look alot better than these CHEEZY computer effects we see today. Computer effects of any sort look fake. In this movie the monster is there. In Jurassic Park, they weren't. Computer effects have destroyed Hollywood and the audience perception on what is actually real. Just look at them you can tell that computer effects look fake. These effects look real, if they were computer generated, they would be a laughing stock! Oh, I also heard some people say that this movie is scary, it is not scary. My 3 year old cousin watched it and said that it wasn't scary, and this kid thinks that Ernest Scared Stupid is scary! But if you want a good alien movie, rent or buy this movie. While your at it pick up Independence Day, Predator, It! The Terror from Space, Invasion of the Body Snatchers(both versions are great), and ET The Extra Terrestrial. Don't forget to go see Signs this august. Live long and prosper Dude!!!!!

Summary: A real female character battles man and monster.
Review: I would love to know where Ridley Scott gained his insight into the female psyche! Sometimes he spends so much time delving into the female roles that his men sometimes fall flat. But each female role is created so tenderly, from the ambitious Ripley, the sexually awakened Lily of Legend, Sean Young's tortured robot in Blade Runner, the beaten down Clarice in Hannibal and to the powerful princess of Gladiator. And of course, Scott reached a pinnacle with Thelma and Louise. It is obvious that Scott finds women fascinating.

But he began with Ripley. A character that would have been a man if not for a flippant nod to 70's women's lib. In retrospect, the powers that be thought they would have both a liberated woman role as well as piece of eye candy. Scott turns both these notions in a direction that no one considered.

Scott chose unconventional actress Sigourney Weaver for his lead. Weaver is pretty but certainly not in the ranks of the then popular Charlie's Angels actresses. He then allows her to be so liberated that she is just as ambitious as the guys. In fact Scott seems to enjoy letting Weaver's Ripley pull rank and dress down her male costars. He lets the camera capture their very real reactions of annoyance, sarcastic eye rolling and reluctant attraction. Then he tears down all her bravado by throwing the monster of the title at her. In essence he creates a woman that men want to protect and women can identify with.

I believe this is the reason why this movie has withstood the test of time. A lot of the special effects look hokey now including the creature. But the set design looks futuristic as well as real and lived in. Ripley and her shipmates are the kind of people anyone could call their friends. It's that level of reality that still makes this a classic science fiction movie.
