Summary: Introduction of Generation X to Godzilla
Review: Godzilla 2000 was my introduction of Godzilla to my kids, ages 9, 10 and 14. I liked Godzilla as I grew up in the sixties to present and really liked them since the 1985 one on. My kids had not seen any films of Godzilla because they mostly play very late at night. But this Godzilla 2000 was able to be seen during the day and "safely". The costum of this Godzilla was very good, and want to see the film again when it comes out on VHS. We rented other Godzilla movies after we watched 2000, so we could see the progression of Godzilla. I got a list off the internet, and then searched the rental stores until we had watched almost all of them. This film got a ten star review from my own kids, and really appreciate the strict following of past Godzilla films. This film stayed very close to the brief scenes presented in past films, where Godzilla would show up in the first part. Then there are scenes that set up the conflict or grand battle that follows in the end portion of the film. The brief scenes in between all contribute to the story set up of the battle to come. The usual minature buildings and similar use of buildings is great! For instance, In almost every Godzilla film, there is a Pagoda that either gets smashed or at least gets toppled. The skyscrappers also are similar, it's amazing that these towns keep building the exact same buildings over and over again. We discused the possibility of creating a Godzilla zone in each city to provide a path for Godzilla to follow and that way he wouldn't cause so much damage. The other thing we observed was that they seem to continue the train runs even though Godzilla is in the city. Why? Also we liked the ocean exit scenes, even the first sighting of Godzilla at sea, by a boat. The best part we really liked was the little eating place that was toward the start, that was excellent! As we watched the older movies and then to present current ones we observed that Godzilla seemed to mature in progression, he seemed to become more mature as the years past till now he seems very well balanced. I also liked that Godzilla seems once again to defend earth. The interaction of Godzilla with people is unique... and that is part of what I like about the films, besides the minatures that get to be crushed. Like my children I give this film five stars.....

Review: I like this Godzilla Movie alot. This is one of the best yet. The special effects are aweseome! I can't what until it comes out on VHS and DVD! I saw it 2 times in the theatre! Summary: OH YEAH!
Review: I am glad to see that despite all the adverse influence (Gamera, American Godzilla), Toho still knows how to make one hell of a big goofy movie. This may be among my favorite of the newer G films, keeping the 'plot' at a steady pace, while featuring many other goodies we've come to know and love: intentionally bad dubbing, likable but two dimenstional characters, and a completely incomprehensible ending w/ moral. Put putting all those aside, G2K actually sets some pretty high standards that actually exceed hollywood. For one, the minature work here utterly amazing. There is nothing from hollywood that really makes such an incredible use of minatures and it far surpasses and former toho efforts. In the end as Godzilla continues to torch Japan, the ruined city looks completely believable. There are of course also some great shots of Godzilla along the skyline that work tremendously well--but as you might also expect, there are some scene you'll need to just pretend :)The final G test though is the fun meter. Was Godzilla's entrance REALLY cool, did it have you jumping up in down in the theater? Well maybe not, but it was great. For the non godzilla fans (and the people who like the US version) this may be completely lost on you and just another cheesy film, but for the those who 'get it' and have been getting it since they were little kids, G2K is a really great entry in the big guy's 50 year oeuvre.

Summary: Godzilla 2000: A Better Godzilla!
Review: Here's the long and short of it as I see it. If you are a fan of the Japanese Godzilla movies (especially the 90s versions) then you will love Godzilla 2000. He is beefier and meaner than the previous versions. Looks pretty cool. If you liked the 1998 American Godzilla movie by Tristar you might just like the Japanese Godzilla 2000 movie. The effects were enhanced and reminded me a lot of Godzilla 1998. If you have NEVER seen a Japanese Godzilla movie then Godzilla 2000 is a definite first look. I didn't think they could improve on the '90s version of Godzilla but they did. This is a better Godzilla. A very good watch. I think that's a fair estimate. I liked Godzilla before but this was different. I hope it comes out on video soon.

Summary: This movie rules!
Review: If you wanna get into Godzilla,this is a real good movie to start with. The special effects are cool, if not up to par with the American version. The voice dubbing is good as well. Of all the Godzilla movies I've seen(with the exception of the American version)this movie really shows his large size. The characters are likeable,and the movie is just plain awesome. Although some of the special effects are dubious, overall they're good. Hey, it's a guy in a rubber suit, not a computer-generated behemoth. Still, Godzilla doesn't lose one ounce of appeal here. If you love the big lizard,you can't miss this movie. If you don't,this might change your mind.

Summary: See this Roland Emmerich!
Review: I've been a huge Godzilla fan ever since kindergarten, and I was shocked numb with dissapoinment after watching the American Godzilla movie in 1998, so I was awaiting this very eagerly. I just didn't think it would be this good. Godzilla, the one true King of the Monsters is back, and he has not taken kindly to Emmerich and Devlin's assault on his good name! From the beautifully directed opening sequence in the fog at Nemuro, to the awe-inspiring confrontation with the SDF at Tokai, to the knock-down, drag-out fight in downtown Tokyo, this is definatley the best movie of the summer! Godzilla looks very menacing in his new, more compact and reptilian appearance, and the actors aren't all that bad themselves (Katagiri's dub voice had me rolling on the floor). I enjoyed Gladiator, M:I-2, Shanghai Noon, X-Men, Dinosaur, etc. but this is more fun than all of them put together.

Summary: Good For Parents and Kids
Review: Godzilla always retains a bit of charm and nostiga for the early 1950;s monster movies. Godzilla 2000 uses all that, just updated for the present. The plot is simple. The Big G must save mankind from a deadly alien creature, the effects work is noticely improved and Godzilla himself looks very impressive (for a guy in a suit). Good entertainment for kids and parents, who never quite grew up.

Summary: Classic Godzilla
Review: Godzilla 2000 is the welcomed and much anticipated return of the "classic" Godzilla. This is the old-fashioned way, and, indeed, the best way of making kaiju eiga (giant monster movies). Traditional and time-tested techniques have been enhanced with the latest digital technology and CGI. The Godzilla design, known in fandom circles as the Mire-Goji, is simply awesome. The composite shots of Godzilla'a raid early on in the film are very convincing. Godzilla 2000 contains some of the best SPFX of the entire series. The actors turn in inspired performances and the result is that we actually care about what happens to them. Although the main character is Godzilla himself, the relationships between the various leads grow and evolve and are authentically and convincingly portrayed. The battle bewteen Godzilla and the Alien/Millennian is one of the best monster battles in several years. I left the theatre smiling after having seen one of the most refreshing and well-crafted giant monster movies in a long time. The re-scoring of the film by Peter Robinson was excellent and added greatly to the scenes of Godzilla confronting the military and the final fight to the finish with his monster antagonist. Great, stunning visuals, convincing, even charming human portrayals and titantic battles puncutate this most enjoyable movie experience.

Summary: Great movie, but the Godzilla suit could have been better.
Review: Forget the Perfect Storm, X-Men, and the Cell because Godzilla 2000 is THE movie to see this year! Sure it's a guy in a rubber suit, but isn't that what Godzilla is all about? Don't get me wrong, I like the CGI Godzilla, but it just can't beat an old fashoned Japanese Monster Rumble! Like I said before the Godzilla suit could have been better. It look too much like that terrible suit they used in King Kong vs. Godzilla. And what was with his spinal plates? I hope somebody got fired for that. I heard a lot of rumors that Oruga's 3rd stage looks alot like the American Godzilla, but I just didn't see it! Sure the teeth sort of resembles the American's, but so did the first two stages'! This movie had everything Godzilla's about and much more!
