Rating: Summary: SKIP IT! Review: WOW! This has to be one of the worst animated stories I have ever seen. It is so different from the book that the plot is almost unintelligable! Then there is that sappy music! My goodness what tripe! SKIP IT! And hope that the movie, currently in production will make up for this travesty. I would have given it is -5 stars if that was possible!
Rating: Summary: They should allow me to make a 0 star rating Review: This movie was HORRIBLE! If it had been made by the same peopel that did the Lord of the Rings anime-type style movie, it would have been a bit better. This movie had bad animation, songs and all that. Orcs don't look like big fat pig creatures and this movie was about following only 15% of the original storyline. These people did a nice job on The Hobbit, but failed completely on this one. It was hard to even watch a little of this. It swayed away from the real plot so much, it disgusts me. For small children who can't read the books quite yet (they were made for adults, but I started reading them when I was 12). I mean, I think they could have seriously followed the book a LITTLE better than this. So, if you have read the Lord of the Rings, and are a big fan of it, don't expect this to be to your liking.
Rating: Summary: One star too many Review: I laughed, I cried, this movie filled me with wonder and fear. But for all the wrong reasons. This overlong refugee from Saturdaymorning has all the depth and production quality you'd expect from an episode of Josie and the Pussycats. Pointing out the disconnects with the books would be virtually pointless as there is little other than some names linking the two. Although it has been years since I suffered through this, I still remember R&B's Aragorn being a tad slow on the uptake: after fighting his way to the gates of Mordor for the expressed purpose of keeping Sauron's attention away from the ring's true location, he is dumbfounded by the destruction of Sauron's armies. It seems that in the R&B version, Aragorn fought his way up there because he thought he could win. The only reason I could think of to see this would be the same morbid curiosity that makes you slow down and gawk at a traffic accident. Be warned; like some accidents, this one is probably more gruesome than you bargained for.
Rating: Summary: Terrible Review: Its understandable that the movie will have to deviate from the plot of the book in some respect, but this movie taken so many liberties it must have Tolkien spinning in his grave at a very high rpm. The movie's is in no way at all like the wonderful books its allegedly based on. Standing on its own, apart from the trilogy, this movie is trite, choppy, confusing and poorly written. It bears little plot resemblance, and in the end it actually contradicts many points made in the books. It may be suitable for very young or slow witted children, but thats about it (The books were written for adults). Please read the books at the very least before watching this movie or you may dismiss them as trash.
Rating: Summary: Truly Horrible Review: I enjoyed this movie as a child but when I saw it again as an adult I can't figure out what I liked about it. The story is slaughtered the depiction of some of the characters is laughable. I just can't get used to the voice of Casey Kasem as a hobbit. And the biggest let down was the scene with the Witch King who laughs just like one of the ghouls from Scooby Doo! I couldn't belive it. Thank God Tolkien wasn't alive to see this!
Rating: Summary: A fun movie Review: This movie has detailed animation(I have heard it classified as anime) and great music. It changes and takes away parts of the book (unlike "The Hobbit" which was pretty accurate),and does not have the action found in Bakshi's "The Lord of the Rings". But if you aren't obsessed with accuracy, like good animation and music, have children,or like a good, fun movie, I recommend it.
Rating: Summary: sigh... Review: I was not impressed with this video. The hobbit is one of my all time favorite videos and I have seen it many times, but I found it a struggle to sit through The Return of the King even once. It is filled with poorly done songs, with little or no action to tie them together.
Rating: Summary: The Return of the King was a nice movie... Review: A lot was cut out of the movie, which made it disapointing (where did legolis and that little dwarf go?). The movie went through a lot the story real quickly in such a short amount of time. The music was good... I don't hate the music, nor do I care for it very much either. It wasn't a great movie, but I liked it.
Rating: Summary: For a Movie Adaptation, It does pretty good! Review: Okay, so it really wandered away from the books. What do you expect? All movie adaptations stray far from the books. ROTK prequel: The Lord Of the Rings, was an incomplete film, but this one isn't. It isn't as descriptive as I would have hoped, but it was fair enough! I give it 5 stars!
Rating: Summary: I couldn't give it zero stars Review: The brash idiocy that this movie embodies sickens me to no end. The very idea that Tolkiens work would be crushed into this awful piece of trash bewilders the mind. The music is simply awful, the storyline hopelessly marred and even then pityiful, and the animation is unsuitable for the serious subjects that are considered. I sinscerely hope that anyone who deciedes to watch this video will be doing so either to entertain a very small child or to relentlessly make fun of it.
