Rating: Summary: Allegory of the cave Review: This movie was an outstanding modern day example of Plato's "Allegory of the cave" theory, also known as Plato's "Divided Line" theory. If you really want to understand this movie and get it's full meaning, take a course in Philosophy. You will be in awe throughout the movie!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely, Undeniably G-R-E-A-T!!! Review: This movie will become a obligatory reference for future action/thriller moviemakers all over the world. It certainly lets you see Hollywood at its best, but then again, so did Titanic, and other than the special effects when the ship sinks, the story could have been told inland. The Matrix is THE PERFECT action/thriller/special FX movie! I can't wait for no matter how many more they make! I do resent, however, the fact that the DVD version comes only in a mini widescreen version (not even the standard widescreen)...
Rating: Summary: Highlander for the 90's Review: Mature fans of science fiction will instantly recognize the plot and theme of the Matrix as a rehash of old sci-fi standards. The concepts were only mildy thought-provoking in their original incarnations and have become downright boring in this latest presentation. Ooooh, 'Could my reality be fabricated?''Will technology rob us of our humanity?' Duh. Rabid fans will spout lines about the religious imagery, the potential of the internet and the beauty of excess paranoia but, in the end, it's all pretty lame. The last film that inspired such religious fervor over adolescent concepts was Highlander. I think the appeal lies in the notion of a select few, who possess knowledge of a hidden world. Oh yeah, the main guy wore a trenchcoat in both films too. So why four stars? Well, strictly as an action film, it's pretty spectacular. There are some genuinely funny moments, transcendant Woo-esque fight scenes and eye-popping special effects. The DVD is loaded with incredible sound-effects, and the transfer was nigh-perfect, showing off a very stylish production effort.
Rating: Summary: More Hollywood Fluff Review: "The Matrix" does have some interesting philosophical concepts, but they are not developed in any way throughout the duration of the film. Like other over-budgetted action-fests today, the directors are afraid of introducing anything original or imaginative into the plot as the typical viewer is likely to reject it as being "off-kilter" in some way or another. This would also introduce the risk of losing money, as these kind of films are purely commercial. So you wind up with a cliched bag of special effects and hackneyed dialogue that would make most people that haven't grown up on "Riki Lake" cringe. Moronic considering all that could have been done with such an idea. I give it two stars only for several of the spectacular effects that, on their own, would make some magnificent pieces of art.
Rating: Summary: fantastic, riveting visual experience! Review: A visual CYBERSPACE FANTASY of mind-blowing proportions-really a cinematic experience that transcends the ordinary and the bizzare due to its timely exploitation of the webs fantasmacgregoric illusions. Truly THE ONE! Let all who now leads a drab life TAKE THE RED MATRIX PILL!!And lets have a STANDARD/DVD version soon.
Rating: Summary: great F/X, great story, everything was just amazing Review: The movie takes your breath away, it's just one great effect after the other. The storyline is very original and loaded with hidden references to Alice in Wonderland and the Bible... worth seeing, definitely!! @ least 3 times!
Rating: Summary: Awsome special effects and storyline Review: Fantastic Storyline. Actors were chosen very well for the parts they played. Easy to get wrapped up in this movie. It leaves you with the feeling that you cannot wait to reach this level of technology for real. The amount of control you have while being projected into a program and having control over your surroundings, is very hypnotic. I hope I live long enough to see a game that gives you these capabilities !!
Rating: Summary: Action packed Great story Review: DVD's like this one need to be available in full screen format not just wide screen. The wide screen format is not for everyone.I like the DVD quality but would like it without the black boarders.
Rating: Summary: This movie delivers, rivaling Terminator 2 Review: I give it 4.5 stars just because it goes way out there, but it is still an awsome display & blend of cinemaphotography & suspenseful dramatic storyline. Absolutely one of the years best.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Movie, never guessed what the matrix was. Review: Total thilling. Each time I see it, it gets better everytime I see it
