Summary: "Johnny Mnemonic" has a better plot than anything else......
Review: Don't expect great acting, there isn't any. However this movie does dish up some good parts. The atmosphere of the movie is pretty cool. A very Techno Cyber Electronic Punk feel to the movie. The special effects are really sweet considering when the movie was made. Also the music is really cool. Such bands as "Stabbing Westward" and "KMFDM" really set the mood for the film. If you can look past the terrible acting you'll find an enjoyable movie. Techno-Industrial fans will be pleased. Everyone else, move along.

Summary: "Cyber-Thriller"?... Definately Techno-Thriller...
Review: This movie is a very good one, if your looking to get into the Gibson style of "Cyberpunk", stories and movies. After all William Gibson started it. Though the future is sure to turn out differently, this movie could be considered a forewarning of what melding men and machine will do. Especially when wealth and power is stuck in-between.

Summary: Yet another techno film trashed by the literati.
Review: Like AI Artificial Intelligence and Blade Runner this is yet another film I didn't see at the time of its release because of the critics who don't see much value in and know nothing of the genre of futurist, technology oriented sci-fi. I'm beginning to believe these people parade around with single digit IQs trying to control what triple digits enjoy (I think I'll copywrite that statement). I saw it, I liked it, I bought it. But then I'm not threatened by something that takes me out of myself to another world in another time...hit me.

Summary: Good Film in certain aspects
Review: For people interested in the "cyberpunk" genre I think this is a must own film..Even though the newer stuff like matrix can't really compare there is something about the earlier cyberpunk films ala "Mnemonic" "Lawnmower Man" "BladeRunner" that is intesresting..The VR graphics are more real in these films than some super-unrealistic film like Matrix..The character most interesting in this Film that nobody here is listing is Shinji! This is definatly the most interesting underrated character in the film..Shinji is the one with the monofilanment whip(a little gadget attacted to his finger that when pulled out shows this 10,000 degree laser heated tiny whip) Extrememly lethal, very cyberpunk ... his slashs people in half with this thing, arms, torse, legs, doors, even statues! With a thing like that in real life?? on man ...hehe...Shinji definatly the best character in the film, acting wise, villiam, just general [tough guy]... i'll never forget "Hello Johnny..*smiles*....Raise your chin, lets make this clean, shhhshhhhh" ...lol

The rest of the movie that was interesting was the showing of the cyberspace through VR...Impressive graphics showing an interactive VR world/city that is very similar looking to a normal city, the ending VR was very interesting..information travels, places to go, people to talk to..They really should of put more of this stuff into this movie...The city backgrounds are great, old run down, yet very 2050ish....'

Of course the letdown is the bad script...keanu is very robotic like (which may be good in this film) and his sentences dont come out right...i sometimes think they were putting the right things in the wrong places and time frames...if the timing wouldve been better if would have been great...

Im a pragrammer so that probably when im giving it a 4...but for just the regular person this might be a little of a dissapointment and seem kinda gibberish....

Summary: Brilliant premise, appalling film
Review: This road kill is the result of a three-way collision between an inexperienced director, an under-cooked screenplay, and the early 'acting' of Keanu Reeves. Irredeemable on almost every level, it's truly notable for two things: it contains some of the most poorly written dialogue ever screened (the "I want room service!" speech will have you hiding under the couch); and it goes off the rails quicker than "Showgirls". Keanu blows his first line, "We've got ice," and it's all down hill from there. Reeves has improved immensely, and director Robert Longo is probably still in therapy, so perhaps we'll never see its like again. Like most people involved in this, they both claim it was destroyed by studio interference and panic-stricken re-editing which undermined the narrative structure. But it's hard to believe it would ever have been good. Avert your eyes and move on. There's nothing to see here.

Summary: So-so sci-fi with laughable Lundgren...
Review: It is the year 2015 and somehow our planet has become a "Blade Runner"-ish post-apocalyptic world. Secret information is handled through mnemonic carriers, people who store the info in their brains. Keanu Reeves plays Johnny, a carrier who stumbles upon a package that could save the human race. But that's not all: a group called the Yakuza and a crazy priest are after his head! Perhaps the only reason to watch this movie is for Dolph Lundgren as the priest. While his screentime is very limited, he's a very memorable part in an otherwise forgettable movie. As far as cyberpunk goes, "Johnny Mnemonic" could work if there was more action. That's not to say it doesn't work; this movie is very watchable. But it drags a little, especially at the beginning and the action is not very exciting. As a ... B-movie, this film is not that bad. As a big-budget thrill ride, this movie needs plenty work.

Summary: Watchable goofiness...
Review: Before hyper-cool cyberpunk flick "The Matrix," there was "Johnny Mnemonic," also starring Keanu Reeves. This film has an interesting setting and background, taking place in the future where a disease is wiping out the population and one man holds the cure downloaded in his mind. However, the film fails to realize just how cool of a premise it could be and we are thrust into a laughable story with corny dialogue and bad acting. Dolph Lundgren makes a fool of himself as a mercenary priest out to kill main-character Johnny. The action in this movie fails to generate anything exciting and the script fails to give us characters to care for. The movie is watchable for the most part, but it lacks drive and flow. It's mostly disappointing.

Summary: Bad, Bad and Bad!!
Review: This movie is horrible. Keanu could have done a lot better.

Summary: 'Johnny' Be Comedy
Review: Johnny Mnemonic is a courier of confidential information. You would think he would carry it in a briefcase, but no, he stores it in his head. He's a walking computer and many Japanese gangsters are willing to kill him to get the information. What is he carrying? You'll find out at the end. From Japan to New Jersey, he runs into Henry Rollins (the singer!), Dina Meyer (Starship Trooper) and Ice-T! What a cast! Whoa, I forgot to mention that Keanu Reeves plays the human computer. There are funny scenes with a ninja using a laser string from this thumb. It was comedy how he used it. Dolph Lundgren (underrated deity) plays a psycho preacher who yells, "Halt sinnas!" It was hilarity when Henry Rollins hit him with a big rig. Oh, the streams pouring down my face with laughter! I recommend this cyberpunk science fiction movie to any fan of the comedy genre.

Summary: Quite cheesy
Review: I went to see this movie in the theatre when it first came out. At the time I was "in love" with Keanu Reeves. But even to me, a "love" blinded 13 year old, this movie was awful. the story line is kind of cool, but the acting is bad, and the movie doesn't flow. It has some gross gory parts, like a dude getting sliced diagonally across his body and his torso slides sideways to the floor. Blech! I don't reccomend this movie to any normal people. :o)
