Summary: One of the best movies I've ever seen
Review: I can only compare it with the first Star Wars Movie. The characters were believable. The situation, though definitely Science Fiction, was something that I could see happening if computers got too powerful. Keanu Reeves is probably one of the sexiest young actors today. I think he's a good actor. Laurence Fishburne deserves an Oscar nod for his performance.

Summary: wow
Review: i can only say wow because I cannot think of any words to do this movie justice. It was totally great, the best action movie in a while. It really sort of makes you wonder is it possible for it to be true? I hope not. I encourage everyone who has not seen the movie to do so asap. You will love it, like I do.

Summary: Watch this movie with an open mind
Review: I can understand the flames this movie gets from quite a bit of ppl as a typical, money oriented action flick. If you watch the movie with closed mind all you going to remember afterwards is guns, trench coats and keanus wooden acting. To me after i saw TheMatrix, it related directly to how the world might be structured today. Maybe we people are being used by someone for their own goals without us even knowing it. Hence ppl in matrix were used as power generators by the machines. U can relate machines to goverment etc. If you like movies that provoke those kind of thoughts or you just like to find hidden meanings behind everything you have to see that one. Its very enterntaining when u watch it with an open mind. I give it a 5, I loved it and I'll get it as soon as it comes out.

Summary: Only DVD to buy right now, rent the rest
Review: I can watch this DVD over and over and not get tired of it. Everything is done so well. Unlike some reviewers below, I have had no formatting issues. Maybe they should check their equipment.

Summary: If it's action you want...
Review: I can't help but feel a little silly endorsing a movie that describes itself as "mega-kick" action, but in this case, I don't have a choice. The Matrix is, perhaps, the best science fiction story in a generation. I also believe (for better or for worse)it defines our emerging cyber-punk culture.

Many viewers point to holes in the plot as a reason for dismissing the entire movie. Before you do this, it is important to remember that this is a science fiction story. Science fiction is often about defining future possibilities that are a result of our present decisions or actions. Obviously, the Matrix explores a frightening (yet common sci-fi) theme--the destruction of mankind by machines. It is creative in its approach, though, and it suggests to us that on a subtle level, this may already be happening. For fans of Fahrenheit 451 (and similar stories) there are some parallels: technology changing humanity, a civilization blissfully unaware, and a small handful of rebels fighting a change that has already taken place.

In reviewing this movie, it is also important to remember that the intention was to give the movie comic book qualities. This deliberate artistic decision will make a movie (like Batman--another Gothic film) seem unreal or fantastic.

This movie is not for everyone, and it wasn't made to be. For example, it is extremely violent. Usually when a sci/fi action movie has this much violence, it is because the plot needs to be carried. This is not the case here. It is one of the "smartest" movies I have seen in this genre, and it introduces us to the next generation of visual effects. (I am still a Star Wars fan, but Matrix was much more impressive to me visually.) I would encourage every sci/fi fan to see it.

Summary: Decent movie.
Review: I can't imagine that anyone in the United States has not seen the matrix by now, so I won't dig too deep into the plot because its self explanatory.

The stunning visuals stand out the most. However, the plot itself was definately overhyped. Its really nothing that innovative or new.

I have to agree with one reviewer that stated that it was the package in which the plot was delivered that was most memorable.

The atmosphere of this movie was simply amazing when I saw it some years ago. Very cyber-punkish.

Yet the acting wasn't that great. Honestly, I wish Trinity didn't even exist. I think her presence brought the movie down. And the love affair was just plain silly. Infact, I don't think romance had ANY place in a movie like this. It made me take it alot less seriously, and it just reminded me that this is purely fantasy.

When I was a young teen and I saw it in theatres I was blown away. Now that I am a little older, I am realizing that it really wasn't all that it was imagined to be.

Still though, its definately worth a view. But its certainly not a masterpiece. I myself can't watch it anymore because it gets more boring everytime.

But if you are 14 or 15, you will most likely love this. Enjoy.

Summary: AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!
Review: I can't say it any better. This movie blew off my interface! Keeanu is great in this flick, and ofcourse is backed up by many, many, wonderful actors. This is truly one of the best movies ever made in our time. Highly enjoyable, great action scenes, amazing mind-boggling plot. I recommend for everyone to see it. You'll make one of the biggest mistakes if you don't. I, personally, loved and felt every byte of it.

Summary: The Best damn Movie EVER...
Review: I can't say it enough...This is with out a doubt the best movie that's ever been done. The Wachowski brothers sure knew what they did...It's a possible future, that the world starts over and the machines will take over the planet. I do rekomend it...

Summary: Same old stuff, but with that normal Hollywood twist
Review: I can't understand why everyone is so dedicated to this movie. I don't see anything so original about this very familiar story. I liked it the first time when it was called Star Wars, or Alice and Wonderland, or even THE BIBLE. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Laurence Fishburne, he was a bad mother; shut your mouth. The special effects don't really do it for me either. The idea of several cameras set up to capture a fluid action isn't a new one. This was the whole idea behind the advent of the motion picture camera, so just get over it people please. There are so many other quality pictures out there so just pick those up instead. THAT'S IT I'M DONE!

Summary: Awesome, mind-blowing story...get the DVD if you can
Review: I cannot say enough about this movie. It is one of the finest combination of excellent story and amazing cinematography that I have ever seen. I own both the VHS and the DVD, and I highly recommend the DVD over the VHS. Why?

For starters, DVDs are way easier to navigate. There are plenty of scenes that you can jump straight to. For example, I get a kick out of the lobby shooting spree scene, so I can go straight to that scene if I want on DVD, while with VHS I have to wait for it to fast forward.

Another plus on the DVD side is that it has TONS more info. And there are lots of different ways to watch the movie. You can watch it regularly, or follow the white rabbit and catch behind the scenes clips of the amazing effects, or, and what I consider the nicest attraction, you can watch the entire film WITHOUT dialogue, only with the soundtrack music. They bring the music to the forefront and turn off the voices, so you pick up on the different intricacies of the movie.

As for the HBO Behind the Scenes clips and stuff on bullet-time and basic 'how they did that', that's on the VHS at the end.

Of course, you don't have to be a die hard sci-fi fan to love this story. I think anyone who is into technology will love it. And anyone who's ever asked themselves, what if this life is just a joke and there's something beyond this?, will certainly enjoy this film.

SO! Check it out, buy it, rent it, borrow it, whatever. Do it on DVD if you have the means to. You won't regret it. This DVD was our player's "maiden film"--and an awesome choice.
