Rating: Summary: Incredibly well directed film Review: This film is definitely on my Top Ten list. Not only is it entertaining in itself, but it is an outstanding example of the director's craft. It's full of little touches, such as the spoon rack behind Neo's head just before the spoon-bending sequence, or the repeated visual effect of the matrix code (such as in the rain on the car windows and the soap on the office window). I've seen the film at least half a dozen times, and I pick up something new each time.. it's a gem on multiple levels. It's a bit dark, though nowhere near as dark as BladeRunner or 12 Monkeys. Well worth seeing at least once.
Rating: Summary: Good, but don't follow the hype. Review: This film is great. The story is well thought-out and the whole thing is rounded off nicely, but I personally am tired of all these socially inept computer freaks calling this the end-all sci fi movie. Don't get me wrong, I love watching it, and the DVD makes this experience even more enjoyable. But it gets tiring when a certain group of people call this (and I quote) "the best movie ever made." Obviously you haven't been introduced to Mr. Frank Capra.Final thought: the movie's a blast, I won't argue with that. But I think we all agree that the nerds should give it a rest (i.e. DROP IT!). I know sometimes movies are outlets to live out our fantasies, and this is a fine example, but first and foremost...a person like Carrie-Anne Moss would NEVER get anywhere near a bed with you.
Rating: Summary: Perfect for everybody Review: This film is simply perfect! I think everyone can find in it something he likes: some the philosiphical aspects, some the action, some (girls) just Neo. I think it's the best film I've ever seen, much better than its two sequels.
Rating: Summary: The most original/entertaining sci-fi in decades. Review: This film is simply the best. I am yet to here anyone say a bad word about it. If you can't appreciate this film in the slightest then there is clearly something wrong with you. However make sure you go in cold, don't let anyone tell you anything about it, do not read extensive reviews, simply go and watch it and be entertained.
Rating: Summary: A stylish mess Review: This film is so dull and boring and is a major dissapointment after the brilliant Dark City. It clunks along at a very slow pace every now and again throwing in a fight sequence to releive the boredom. It tries too hard to be too many things. It never reaches the mythological, adventurous or down rite fascinaiting levels of the four Star Wars movies. Neither does it bring home a "man against machines" message that the Terminator films do. The Matrix looks good just like Keanu Reeves. But like it's star it has nothing to back that up.
Rating: Summary: The 2001 (Space Odyssey) of 1999. Review: This film is so full of symbolism, it can be interpreted in many different ways. If you don't find any meaning at all in this film it says more about you as a person than it does about Keanu's bad acting. The only places this film falls short is in its attempt at pleasing action film junkies. It is an action film, not an idiot flick.
Rating: Summary: UNBELIEVABLE Review: This film is the best film i have ever seen. The special effects are UNBELIEVABLE and for the acting, it was brilliant. This is a must see movie.
Rating: Summary: MATRIX Review: THIS FILM IS THE BIRTH OF ALL COMPUTER GENERATED GRAPHICS. NO ONE COULD EVER DISAGREE. WHEN THIS FILM FIRST CAME OUT I DONT THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE WAS READY FOR WHAT IT SHOULD US. MANY PEOPLE TO THIS DAY STILL DONT UNDERSTAND THIS FILM AND SEEK THE ANSWER IN THE REST OF THE MOVIES. I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THIS WOULD BE MY SECOND FAVOURITE MOVIE OUT OF THE TRILOGY. BAD.
Rating: Summary: thought compelling and highly entertaining!!! Review: this film is well written, has superb actors and actresses, makes one think about the nature of our world and is more fun than any other movie when put together.
Rating: Summary: Star Trek of the 90's Review: This film possess many elements that would appeal to many people, whatever there preference. However, Those of you who enjoy complex stories would see the Matrix as a dramatic step-up from other sci-fi greats such as Star Wars and Star Trek. l believe this to be the case with the Matrix as it feels like a vastly more complicated film than Star Wars and Star Trek, even though it shares many similarities.
