Summary: Be careful of the DVD, it may not be compatible w. players
Review: I love this movie and already own the VHS edition so was excited to see it coming out on DVD. I own a JVC DVD player and was very disappointed that it did not play this DVD.

I made a trip to my local electronics retailer and we tried it in several DVD players. Sony (of course!) players worked as well as Panasonic and Samsung (go figure!). Yamaha, JVC and Toshiba did not.

This is not an unusual occurance, so caveat emptor everyone, try before you buy, something made difficult by Amazon's return policy.

Summary: Top Quality DVD Production
Review: This is simply one of the finest quality DVD productions I have seen. Even the menus are creatively assembled, organized and presented.

There are plenty of behind the scenes interviews with Director, Sonnenfeld, as well as Jones & Smith, special effects wizard, Rick Baker and on and on. There are numerous filmclips of unused footage, special effects takes and re-takes, including blue screen images. You even get the music video featuring Will and "Mikey."

For anyone who's seen MiB and enjoyed it as I have, this DVD is a marvelous addition to your collection. I would actually rate the DVD quality and value as "5" stars and the film itself as "4 1/2" stars.

By any standards, don't miss this one!

Summary: The Best Earth Bound Fun I have had
Review: The movie was awesome. I have it on VHS. But when I put it in my DVD Player and surround system with the 5.1 hookup, it blew me away. The acting was great. Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith really played off of each other very well. Tommy casting as the straight guy was pure genius. The colors are fabulous. The special effects was mind blowing. This movie translated very well unto the DVD format. I thoroughly recommend it.

Summary: movie - 4 stars; DVD - 5 stars
Review: This is a great movie. It's quite funny, but what I liked most were the characters, the style and the sound. I loved the deep basses the MiB car makes after slowing down and the sound the neurolizer makes.

Some characters weren't completely convincing, like Will Smith, who was just the same guy he is in the "Fresh Prince.." and ID4. Some scenes are clearly fake (like when Will Smith gets in the MiB car for the first time, as a MiB), but that's okay as long as you have your imagination (But with such a budget it should've been done right).

But what bugs me the most, was that the movie only lasted for 80 minutes (excluding 8 minute credits). The story is way too huge to fit in a running time that short. They could easily add 40 more minutes to it and use that for more character development, so you can care for them, like Rip Torn and Linda Fiorentino. But toher than that, the movie's a must-see.

The Limited Edition DVD is excellent though. A great commentary track with Sonnenfeld and TLJ, brought to new a level. There aren't many featurettes around, but some great info on the making of the movie and also an interesting editing studio.

Get it - whether you like the movie or not.

Summary: ''WE ARE THE FIRST, LAST, AND ONLY, LINE OF DEFENCE''.......
Review: .....''WE COME IN PEACE; AND WE DRESS IN BLACK''....This line encapsulates the movie for me, from its cool opening (complete with really gooey, blue slime)to the bug fight at the end this is great! he story basically involves a secret government agency - the Men In Black - who, when there are alien criminals on earth, are sent out to infiltrate them. The film itself is pure, cool blockbuster material, with some real gripping scenes, like the finale. Included on the limited edition DVD are a lot of features, actually, the best being a scene editing facility, and a section where you can look at the way the finale was created, making good use of the angle button for a change. Give it a try, its well worth the money.

Summary: Man Its Bad
Review: This movie is god awful. Will Smith should stick to what works for him, action movies with comedy in them (ex: Bad Boys), because he was garbage and so was Mr. Jones. He proved he cant do just regular comedic movies in MIB, and also that Wild Wild West. Buyer beware, this movie isnt even worth a dollar.

Summary: Keep your VHS tape, this DVD is a LOSER!!
Review: I am a huge DVD fan, Scream 3, ID4, T2 and Fight Club have released outstanding DVD packages. This DVD however is a dud I am sad to say. The so called "extras" are hardly a token of fan appreciation for this film and I am wondering if studios actually think the buying public is nothing but a bunch of idiots. Studios constantly underestimate what the buying public wants which is why so many movies never make it to their full potential. Look at the Blair Witch Project or The Sixth Sense or any other movie every studio expected to see crumble. People know what they like and it appalls me to see that studios are becoming more and more chintsy involving "extras" with their DVD's. Anyway, on with the DVD commentary, the picture quality is definately superior to the VHS version, however the widescreen version makes the picture quality during darker scenes much too dark and it's hard to lighten the picture with your TV-stick with the standard format on this one. The sound quality is outstanding which is why I gave this DVD a 2 star instead of a 1 star-along with the fact Tommy Lee Jones is my favorite actor of all time. As far as extras, besides the stills, documentaries and music video, this DVD doesn't really compare to the deluxe packages like the movies I just listed above. Part of what DVD is all about is getting more than just a movie, you're getting the full interpretation of what the director originally wanted for the film. It's obvious the studio had complete control over this one and Barry Sonnenfield should have included his "deleted scenes" since that's what people are buying DVD's for anyway. Every movie has deleted scenes-why not include them???!!! James Cameron is a master at this and it's given his movies literally a second life for that very reason. Move on from this piece of trash and wait for the Star Wars Trilogy!

Summary: DVD Limited Edition is the one to own!
Review: If I were to rate this movie on its own I would give it four stars, mainly because its not a movie that sticks with me, its just fun to watch once in awhile. This limited edition package is really quite nice. When you take the wrapping off you will notice the case isn't like anything else. If anything, its originality is similar to the Fight Club's packaging. It opens up much like a book, which I think is really cool. As for the contents on the DVD's themselves, Disc One contains both a fullscreen and widescreen version of the movie, and Disc Two holds all the goodies. There is a feature where you get to watch two scenes being broken down from the first storyboards to the final cut. That is interesting to watch. Another original feature is a scene editing workshop, that lets you "try" and be and editor. This feature took a little while to figure out how to use, but once I tried it out, I realized how bad I would be at editing a movie :) Overall, this is a nice dvd to have, although it is anywhere from $5-10 more than the regular version, so it is a bit pricey. My suggestion would be only spend the extra money if you really like this movie.

Summary: Watch Tommy Lee Jones
Review: It's a fun movie with exciting action, big, cool sfx and a clever, funny story. It's mostly aimed at kids (even though there's bad language throughout) but there is also good acting to keep adults involved. Be sure and watch Tommy Lee Jones closely. He does a great job showing who his character is with small details.

Summary: I love this movie.
