Summary: Starship Troopers is great Sci-Fi Action! (4 1/2 Stars)
Review: Look at the VEREHOVEN classics: TOTAL RECALL, ROBOCOP and BASIC INSTINCT- all entertaining thrillers!

Now look at: STARSHIP TROOPERS and HOLLOW MAN... 2 films that the critics and audience alike put down!

I think these movies are f/x filled awesome flicks! STARSHIP TROOPERS is great, but lacks realism- but it is just entertainment!

STARSHIP TROOPERS is the story of the upcoming future, when four friends join the Infantry, Pilot Division and Science Studying programs to become a citizen. And they face some nasty, brain sucking bugs!

MY REVIEW:

"This is a fun movie! The action and effects are great! I just don't think that this is at all realistic! Of course, though, that's what movies are all about! This is a great one for adventure fans!"- MJV & the Movies.

Summary: The Ultimate Romantic Comedy!
Review: Forget the neurotic critics and buy this film! True, it strays far from Heinlein's story, but it works in its own right. It has romance, it has comedy--in short, the ultimate chick flick. Enjoy! ("ARE YOU DOING YOUR PART?")

Summary: PURE PULP FUN
Review: Paul Verhoeven makes thrillers that are insidiously entertaining, they smash you in the face with their nervy visuals and often silly dialog. This movie is no exception; however, it also boasts a mesmerizing parallel to the recruitment films used in Nazi Germany. It has that austere, spare, let's go to war for all the right reasons feel to it. The cast is impossibly gorgeous and cut, much like Hitler youth as fashionable teens in outer space. The special effects are nerve-jangling and robust; this is a grade-B movie with some high gloss. For the best Paul Verhoeven film ever, see if you can find The Fourth Man, which is in Dutch -- it has the same wildly concocted imagination as this sci-fi thriller, but it also has brains.

Summary: Utter, Complete, Shameless TRASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I've heard that Robert Heinlein's wife actually signed over the right to Starship Troopers to Columbia/Tristar Studios when they were looking for an idea for a invading alien movie. I'd love to get my hands on her so I could scream at her for a couple of hours. I hope that she's ashamed of herself!

If you haven't seen it, there is another series out based on Heinlein's Starship Troopers. It's done in CGI and actually sticks to the spirit of the story while updating the story.

Summary: Special Effects do not a movie make
Review: This is a story about a pseudo-fascist future earth that is retaliating against a race of giant bugs. Following the role of some high school students, we track the course of the war in the Space Fleet, in the Marines and the intelligence... The plot revolves around....

Oh never mind. You don't watch this movie for the plot. You watch this movie for the incredible special effects, giant man eating space bugs, gore and rather pointless nudity. Hmmm.... I can see a problem here.

I did not find this movie all that appealing - the acting was bad, the plot obvious. The special effects do deserve a thumbs up as does the concept of this future earth - the propaganda videos are actually quite interesting. Overall this movie is probably best enjoyed after the consumption of large quanities of alcohol - maybe then the bad acting and camp predictability won't detract quite so much from the overall effect.

I would recomend most science fiction movies over this.

Summary: This movie cannot be serious
Review: Mix "An Officer and a Gentleman " whit "Full Metal Jacket" and you have the first half of the movie. The grotesque war-advertising warn you that this is less than a "serious" war movie, more likely a parody.I cannot believe that goofy arachnids (though I've never seen spiders or scorpions whit a rostrum) whitout manipulative appendages can build spaceships (let alone master the technology to deviate asteroids). All they do in the movie is getting temselves killed and kill the occasional soldier dumb enough to come too close. Not to mention the dragon-bug that spites fire!

Summary: It's OK
Review: OK film, good effects and acting. It doesn't have much in common with the Robert Heinlein book, but it's still a decent quality movie. If your a fan of the 'colonial marine' type books and movies, you're sure to like it.

Summary: It's Not About Propaganda People.
Review: I don't know which is worse, the guys who think this movie is stupid or the guys who go on and on about the Nazis, Goebbels, Mao's "Big Lie", etc. etc. The movie isn't about propaganda sillies. And, the bugs aren't the "good guys". You people really need to think for yourself for once. The movie is about killing. Kill or be killed. As a badass action movie there is nothing better. Get some popcorn and a candy bar and watch it with all your friends.

Summary: "I'm doing my part"
Review: Poor Starship Troopers. It's been said before and it's true: this has got to be one of the most misunderstood movies made in years. Some have complained that this film has almost no resemblence to the book. And they're right. The fact is, Paul Verhoven and the screenwriter Ed Neumeier were not interested in a faithful adaptation - they wanted to make two hours of military propaganda. The graphic violence (a tradmark of Verhoven), the Nazi-like uniforms, the imperialistic war-mongering, and wooden B-movie acting were intended to achieve this. Unfortunately, people took it way too seriously. It bombed at the box office and was demolished by critics. Ultimatley, it's clear that Verhoven and Neumeier needed to be far more subtle in their message. Neverthless, Starship Troopers is grand science fiction entertainment. The FX are truly outstanding. One day, perhaps this film will gain the appreciation it deserves.

Summary: Who Says this has to be accurate, it's FUN!!!
Review: Gore, Gore, and more Gore to please the fans of Splatter, Robocop, Swat Kats and Total Recall. The Story deals with Alien Insect creatures who battle against Humans in a bloody war, it's a Entertaining and wild Sci-fi Ride that will make sure you have a strong stomach....END
