Summary: BOOK YES!!! MOVIE- NO!!!!
Review: I was ROBBED!!! Battlefield Earth is one of the few books, that I faithfully read year after year, after year. It's one book that can keep you glued to your chair, page after page... The "(MOVIE)" does not only take liberities with the plot, but totaly invents plots and outrageious devices to carry the story. Gone are over a 80 percent of the book. And the rest, was so changed that you might reconize a charaters name, but his roll never came from the book. The only thing that even remotely came from the book was the names of the main charaters. PLEASE.. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.. READ THE BOOK......

Summary: L Ron Hubbard turns over in his grave!
Review: This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The acting in general is deplorable but Travolta has set a new low in his career. Shameful! The special effects at times were acceptable but they could not make up for the lack of story line and miserable acting. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! I wish I hadn't!

Summary: This is great cinema
Review: Great story, great acting, amazing special effects. The actual story of man being attacked and taken over by a technologically superior race is scary to say the least but the uplifting aspect of this movie is that man can rise to the occasion and fight back--I felt it was great entertainment and very well done. I paid for the movie and will do so again to take my daughter who wants to see it. I highly recommend it.

Summary: The worst movie I have ever seen in my life.
Review: Every copy of this film should be locked in a vault for use as a doomsday weapon in the event of a real alien invasion.

Many people make jokes about wasting time, but what they might say with irony I say with perfect seriousness: I feel as though I have been robbed of two hours of my life.

Don't wait for the second run theaters, and don't bother to see it on video. It's that bad. So bad, in fact, that it doesn't even have "camp" value.

Summary: Batttlefield of the Critics
Review: Every once in a while there comes a film that critics all give terrible review to. Now, here again we have another such occurance.

Battlefield Earth, which is based on L. Ron Hubbard's epic tale, is anything but the terrible film critics have made it out to be. This is true for three reasons:

1. It is a well-known fact that sci-fi films are not warmly received in Hollywood. It comes as no surprise that Battlefield Earth has met the same fate so as many other great sci-fi films. In a world of pure reality where we live, it is difficult for us to swallow what we see on the big screen when it comes to sci-fi. In other words, most of us find it hard to suspend disbelief and just enjoy themselves. So called plot holes is this film are intentional. As an example, let's say that in the movie there comes a scene where a human character has a tail and no other humans do. Since the idea is to tell the saga of human conflict in the year 3000, it would hardly do us any good to explain how this tail got on a human being. Instead, rather than bore us with an explanation, the film would leave it up to us to find our own explanation.

2. Battlefield Earth is pure science fiction. The late L. Ron Hubbard described science fiction differently than most people would. His own view of science fiction was simply, "taking the world and putting in it an idea about science someone has had into fictional reality." He further explains this in the book. Regardless, perhaps the reason why some of us do not find this film to be good is that we just don't understand the sci-fi genre. Perhaps, only sci-fi fans should see this film and only after they have read the book.

3. The word of the critics usually becomes the word of most people. People can easily be influenced by another person's opinion. Especially if the opinion offered seems logical. Since a vast majority of people do not see movies on a regular basis, this only manages to further decrease the chances of people going to the movies when the opinion offered is bad. If you truly want to see a movie, try to distance yourself from what others say, and if you are exposed to this, try not to judge the film "by critic's word." Everyone has an opinion and everyone's a critic. Keep this in mind and do not let someone's opinion hinder your decision.

Well, there are my reasons. I really didn't touch the film's content because, I'm following reason number three. I'll let you decide what you want to be exposed to and judge the film for yourself.

Summary: A review of "Battlefield Earth" from a Sci-Fi Fan.
Review: "Battlefield Earth" has got to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen in a long time. This movie is not only a dog, but a dog with fleas! It is based on a story by L. Ron Hubbard about how humans are becoming an extinct race on Earth in the future of three thousand and something. Earth has been taken over by Psychlos an evil alien race with no morals. Humans are not advanced in this future, we are more like cavemen, and have no chance of beating this superior race of Psychlos. Sounds like it might have potentential, but then it takes a horrible turn. These cavemen will become more advanced in 60 minutes than we have since the cave men days! Yes, this movie is filled with so many plot holes its not even funny. I can almost promise you that you will look at your watch 1 or 2 times wondering when will this be over. I can not believe the the talent on this movie could not look beyond the special effects which were marginal(with a few exceptions), and look at the gaps in this movie. I gave it one star becuase there was nothing lower I could give it. I would wait for this to be on DVD or VHS within the next 3 to 4 months and then maybe if you still want to see it you can give it a try, but remember you have been warned!

Summary: battlefield earth
Review: this movie was full of thought provoking ideas and projected what could happen under attack in the future. It made me realize how important it is that we fight for our freedoms even within the current political structure. It also made me realize how important education and knowledge is.

Summary: Battlefield Earth
Review: Battlefield Earth (BE) is a fun fast paced movie. It's based upon a fantastic book by L.Ron Hubbard. The plot ceenters around Earth in the year 3000 and humans that try to win Earth back from the invading psyclos. After seeing the movie picking up the paperback is a great idea, the story IS that good.

I think any movie can be picked apart - but if one notices some deficiencies in this movie, take a step back and look at the entire picture and I believe that you too will find this a very fun and fast-paced-action packed film.

Speaking as a Scientologist for over 20 years - this remember is a Sci-Fi flick NOT a Scientology film. Inother words enjoy BE - there are NO hidden Scientology messages no matter what all the religious bigots (reviewers write) and no matter what others say. But here is a hint: Making up YOUR OWN mind about Scientology and Dianetics is the smartest thing you could ever do. In other words do check these subjects out - but check them out for your self. See if they work for YOU and forget the rabble with the babble-on problems!

Summary: A Chain of Mis-Fires All The Way Through!!!
Review: This movie is really bad. It could of been campy but it makes the mistake of taking itself seriously. John Travolta has never sunk so low, but he does deliver the best performance in the whole movie, and that's saying a lot. The plot is more plausible than 'Godzilla' and the filmmakers decided to tell the story from the 'Psychlos' point of view, which is a terrible mistake and really brings down the film. A completely incoherent and even stupid screenplay doesn't help. Some nice visuals and some unintentional laughs are the only good thing about this film. Based on the novel by L. Ron Hubbard, while the novel was good, this one doesn't capture the feel or it's style. Also the 'Psychlos' are too disgusting to look at. Forest Whitaker is really bad in this one and Barry Pepper doesn't have the stuff of movie heroes. Laughable climax and ending. From a scale of 1-10 I give this film a 2!

Summary: NOT STAR WARS
Review: This is not a Star Wars movie and should not be judged as such. However, it is a good Science Fiction movie with what I think is very interesting characters. A very good example of how destructive greed can be. When GREED rules your life, nobody wins!!!
