Summary: So much better than "Aliens"
Review: This doesn't get so boring as "Aliens", so it's actually fun to watch. And I really liked the return of Bishop (even if this wasn't the "Real one"). Some of the death scenes were great, and it also gave me a few good scares. I could write a lot more about this movie, but it's not so much more to say. It's a standard movie about evil Aliens, and mankind's attempt to save themselves and our planet.

Summary: Worst in the trilogy
Review: While Alien3 is definitely the worst in the trilogy, its about on par with Ressurrection. This film was the first in the series to bring in all the CGI, and it had a lot of potential -- but it just didn't work.

The problems with this movie started long before it was made. Originally supposed to be a big Alien invasion of earth, the script and the director were thrown around so much and the budget so reduced that it ended up like this. Fincher took what he got, and decided to try to capture the claustrophobic feel of the original Alien movie.

This is certainly a very enjoyable movie, if you turn it up loud enough to make out what the characters are saying -- the alien looks spiffy, but there's not enough of it. The Weyland Yutani company is back, but again we don't get enough. The music's okay, as is the acting.

The biggest mistake in this movie was that it just destroyed the setup it had. Hicks and Newt are killed within the first five seconds, presumable because the actors didn't resign, and Ripley somehow gets implanted by a hugger which later implants something else -- I though they died after depositing one egg. It also doesn't make sense that Ripley's alien takes so long to come out, while the other one hatches within hours or a day.

This is an overall mediocre addition to the series, with a few very neat scenes, and a whole lot of fluff. For fans of the series, this is good, but if you're just looking for a fun movie, look elsewhere.

Summary: Could have been better
Review: As a fan of the first two Alien films I was a little disapointed by Alien 3.

On the up side, the film proves to be tense and claustrophobic as the first one and manages to be pretty scary too.

The real problem is the script. The basic set up is just bad. Riply has crashed on a prisson world and is the only survivor. In other words, all the hell she went through in Aliens was for nothing becuase everyone is dead. As if this weren't depressing enough, everyone else are either murderers or very nasty gaurds. There is really no one to identify with and you don't really care what happens anymore.

Alien 3 isn't a bad film but it's not on par with the first two films.

Summary: Disappointing in every respect
Review: The third installment in the Aliens series unravels Ripley's struggle for personal redemption by killing the characters -- Newt & Hicks -- who gave her "Aliens" story focus and resonnance. This reveals a deep disrespect for the audience and the concept of a sequel by the filmmakers.

Alien 3 is essentially a black-and-white movie, taking place in an overwhemlmingly drab castle-like setting, described as a prison. We're told there are no weapons on the entire planet. Apparently there are no light bulbs either. It's all dark rooms, tunnels and more tunnels.

All the characters wear the same drab clothes and all have shaved heads. In other words, everyone looks EXACTLY alike. I couldn't tell them apart. But, as it turns out, it's not necessary to tell them apart because they're all just interchangable dialog delivery devices. Apologies to the actors, who seem to have tried -- against hopeless odds -- to create actual characters.

The plot, as near as I could discern, involves the interplay of many symbolic elements: criminals, tunnels, religions, more tunnels, pregnancy. Basically the kind of stuff that sounds good late at night, sitting around a table with your friends, after a few beers.

My favorite "bad" line of dialog, paraphrased: "We'll drown the creature in molten lead."

Sigourney Weaver and David Fincher chose to make a movie that ignores the character and plot line of its predecessors. That's their artistic priviledge. My choice is to watch the restored, director's cut of Aliens, a far superior film.

Summary: Worst of the Four
Review: This movie has a lot of flaws in it, first of all killing off everyone that survived the previous movie shows a lack of imagination not to mention that it spoils the ending of ALIENS. I thought that the way the designed the alien itself was inventive, I like the way it took on the characteristics of the dog and how it could run on walls. The whole story about the bald-headed prisoners who were suposed to be some kind of munks was wierd and confusing. The movie drags until you get to the last half-hour and even then its mostly everyone just running around.

Summary: Alien 3, for better or for worse?
Review: Sigourney Weaver returns yet again in this funky piece called Alien 3. I personally saw at my friends house during a sleep over. Warning: If you haven't seen Alien or Aliens, don't see this, it wont make any sense! Now for someone who has seen Alien and Aliens this movie has a lot of swears. And I don't mind swears, but this movie has A LOT OF SWEARS. Not for the little children either! If you have a surround sound system this would be good, and it's in Widescreen. I think this movie is good for a dark night where you want to scare your friends.

If you liked Aliens (the 2nd one) you may or may not like this movie. The surviving characters from the secound one die except for Ripley (Of course!) An okay movie with a few surprises (actually a lot)and a lot of swears.

Summary: Not as bad as people say, but that better than the first 2.
Review: The movie has its problems. Such as making only one alien after having thousands. Then having two characters die before the movie starts. However there were some funny moments as well as dark ones. The end is quite fun and its not completely bad but nowhere near the first two.

Summary: 3 stars for part 3
Review: I was a little displeased with this one. At least it wasn't as bad as the first one though. I didn't like returning to the single-alien ordeal. I liked alot of them like in ALIENS. The environment is also boring, and not as exciting as all the ships and outer space mechanisms as the previous two. In this one we're just in a big prison, sort of like Earth. This one does have a good ending, one I think would have been worthy enough to conclude the series :)

Summary: Sigi's the nuts
Review: great entertainment, and as usual Sigi is up to it. The effects were so real I couldn't tell the difference between the dummy Aliens and the real ones. The film reminded me a bit of Conair with all thos villains being the good guys. Keep it up Sigi - your my favourite.

Summary: Satisfying, clever movie
Review: Ok, so "Alien 3" was not as classic as "Alien" or as fun as "Aliens", but it was not as horrible as many people have claimed. It was a terrific conclusion to the Alien series. (I don't include Alien: Resurection to be part of the series because it was so pointless and stupid.) The plot moved along smoothy and the acting was great, especially Weaver who I feel did the most convincing job in the series. On a side note I thought it was a superb idea to give the alien dog-like physical characteristics since its host was a Rotweiler. The only things I didnt care for in this final chapter was how the scrip-writer cut out Newt and Hick's role. Im sure the two would have been more than glad to return to make Alien 3 if they were given the opportunity. Anyway, it was a wonderfully crafted movie just not fully up to par as the first two.

P.S.- there is not a more satisfying, clever ending to a movie than this one.
