Summary: Not bad, but not great either
Review: Lots of people write about how unrealistic the movie is, and indeed it is. But really now... If you had seen a trailer of it, what the hell did you expect? This movie is about having a good time watching cool stunts, breathtaking effects and hearing a couple of good one-liners from time to time. We must forgive Jerry Bruckheimer for making a film based on the available visual effects, because while the movie isn't bad, it could have been another CRIMSON TIDE/THE ROCK/CON AIR. But then again, he has already redeemed himself with last year's ENEMY OF THE STATE.

Knowing nothing about science, I couldn't notice many bloopers of that kind (well except the classical sounds-in-vacume), however, there were a few things they sure as hell could have left out:

The Aerosmith soundtrack

Ben Affleck who was badly casted

Every scene involving the American president. First of all his speech about mankind (who made him the leader of mankind?) and while we're at it, the really annoying scenes in the beginning where he gets pissed at the nasa guys because he doesn't understand what they're saying.

Having said that, the rest is just fine action-filled entertainment. And yes... the best line in the movie is: "Get of the nuclear warhead"

Could anyone be as kind as to point out how many new scenes are in this director's cut. That would be nice.

Review: Amageddon stands as a towering example of everything that is wrong with Hollywood these days. This is just an MTV music video expanded into a feature length film. If you have the IQ of a Forrest Gump and the attention span of a fly, you'll probably love it though.

Summary: Glitches on DVD
Review: I wanted to give this DVD 5-stars. However, there were too many glitches on the DVD.

There were exactly two(2) instances where the video would glitch. Then there was that 'long' pause during the layer change on thie RSDL disc.

It's a shame that a good movie is wasted because of these stupid glitches. Can't forgive!

Summary: Very stupid movie.
Review: This movie was a total waste of my time and energy watching it, not to mention the fact that I shelled out twenty bucks for it. The only thing good about this is that Ben Affleck is in it, but even he doesn't make this video worth buying. Save your money; go buy Deep Impact, much better special effects, very interesting. This movie has no plot, nothing interesting worth watching.

Summary: LISTEN 2 ME!! THIS IS THE BOMB!A must buy!!!!!!
Review: All right, I admit I mean it's not as good as "conair" but It's still AWSOME! I mean it's rated PG13 what do Uexpect? If U just came to see things blowing up and blood and gore then go see "Saving Private Ryan" I saw that, and that's a good movie. BUT.... This movie has it all! It's halarious at some points. It'll make U cry 'cause U are laughing so hard. But near the end U will probably be crying 'cause it's so sad. Either way there are gonna be tears STREAMING down U're face. This is a dream movie come true. It's great 4 teenagers. And those of U who are saying "get real jerk"and saying that this is too unrealistic then move U're b**t to see some more gory stuff. Be my guest.

Summary: A fan's dream collection
Review: Armageddon Criterion is everything you could want as a fan or the movie. The commentary with Bruce Wilis, Michael Bay, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Ben Affleck is interesting and at times, hilarious. Ben Affleck is completley irreverent and brings up points about the movie's plot and logic that are hysterical to hear. Michael Bay's Gag Real is approximately 7 minutes of outtakes and jokes from the production that are at times hilarious. Also loaded on the 2 disk set is extensive making of videos, story boards, art direction, deleted scenes, concept design, all TV and Movie trailers, (including the initial teaser and the Super Bowl commercial) and another running commentary with various experts called in to consult on the film, and much more. The film transfer is beautiful and visually stunning. All, in all, one of the best DVD's on the market.

Summary: Plain waste of time
Review: Armageddon is just about the worst movie since Independence Day. Great effects and sound, but really no contents at all, playing on the cheapest elements in movies. Really poor!

Only bright side, Bruce Willis was in it!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: more realistic than you may think
Review: This was a good movie. It was more realistic than many people (commenting here) believe it to be:

1. The part about our object-tracking budget allowing us to track only 1% of the sky is pretty accurate. There's little chance we's see such an object comming. 2. As stated in the movie, an explosion from the outside would not be effective in diverting the trajectory of an asteroid of this size. Too much energy would be lost into space.

3. In response to another reviewer's comment about using a nuke on something "as big as texas", a single modern nuclear device could have the capacity to level every square inch of texas.

4. Although I doubt anyone would send oil drillers to plant a nuclear device on the asteriod, drilling is a sensible option. A subsurface explosion, even if it was only drilled in a bit, would be far more effective than, say, a missile srtiking it.

All this boils down to only one thing: IT'S JUST A MOVIE. It was fun and you damn well know it. Don't try to hack it apart by whining about realism or accuracy. That's why we call this FICTION!

I saw this in theatres, VHS, and DVD

Summary: Dissapointing Movie
Review: I saw Deep Impact before I saw this movie, and expected Armmageddon to be the better film. I was quite let down, to say the least. The romance was stupid, Aerosmith's was song disgusting, the plot left gaping holes, and I basiclly didn't care to see if Brucey could stop the asteriod. A huge waste of time and money.
