Summary: better than the original
Review: I was the same as most of you thinking before I watch this I will be greatly dissappointed. I really was suprised by how much I liked it and comparing it to the original it is 3 times better. I laugh at people that say the original star trek and star wars, etc was cheesy and lame should watch the original of lost in space. New version-3stars TV version-1 star

Summary: Childish
Review: Fully loaded with special effects, but lacking the basics of any good sci-fi movie. There are plenty of creatures, places, time travel, etc, all chained up only to visually entertain but Lost in Space is not an "idea" based flick. Full of horribly illogical facts (I mean these guys are travelling in space as if it was car-driving). Facts of physics are disregarded to an extend where you can't simply apply "leave your brain out, take your popcorn, stop thinking, just enjoy".

Not a surprize that second hand market is full of this movie...

-3 stars only because I'm a strongly biased, die hard sci-fan :)-

Summary: Not a bad popcarn, family flick
Review: When I was a kid I used to thrill to the adventures of the LOST IN SPACE TV series each week. As I got older though, and watched the reruns, I noticed how campy this TV series was.

I was pleasantly surprised to see this video. Unlike many of the movie re-makes of old TV series, this is loads of fun and enjoyable. The special effects are great and supplement the plot nicely. Gary Oldman comes off as a particularly nasty Dr. Smith; while John Hurt is a flawed, but valiant John Robinson; and Mimi Rogers is a much tougher Mrs. Robinson than June Lockhart ever was. The plot is drawn from the earlier series but with some interesting twists. Given its a movie of a TV series you have to wonder exactly how they are going to end it. Its not campy like the TV series.

Pleasant, fun-filled television for the whole family.

Summary: The best sience fiction movie ever made!!!
Review: I simply love the actors!!! They are perfectly choosen, and i couldn't imagine ANYone else who could do the job as "badguy" better than GARY OLDMAN!!! He's the best! Of course the others are very good too, but he's simple the best of the best!!! Don't u agree??? Thinking of the specialeffects, it's not really that bad. Not as bad as i had expectet before having seen the movie. And the little spacemonkey is just great!!! Well, that's all for now! C U L8R! Mads Mikkelsen, Denmark.

Summary: Lousy
Review: This movie was kind of, okay, REALLY boring! It's way too darn loud to detect a plot. It may have been a box-office hit, but this blockbuster is lackluster! Not recommended at all. A huge dissapointment. Some of the effects were okay, though. D+

Summary: Boring!
Review: Nothing but explosions, boring diagolue, Dr. smith is not endearing like the old episodes. Very disappointing! Spend your money on the old lost in space.

Summary: DVD useful as anesthetic or a handy coaster
Review: I am truly sorry that I did not see as much in this movie as the other people reviewing it. That said, this is one of the worst films I've seen in years - and I'm not a purist, either. I enjoyed Charlie's Angels as much as the next guy, and I can usually get a kick out of even an obviously terrible movie like A Knight's Tale. No such luck here. This movie isn't just a bad transition from the TV show, it's a terribly made, acted, and ESPECIALLY written film. The script caused me physical pain. I can stomach Independence Day, I can live with Armageddon (although I'd rather not), but PLEASE never let this movie see the light of day again. It was a crime to make it, and it was a crime to re-release it on DVD. Please don't add to the list of felonies by spending your hard earned money to hear lines like, "Are you finished hosing each other down with testosterone?" Consider yourself warned.

Summary: My kids played it over and over
Review: Most of my adult friends didn't like this movie but my kids kept playing it over and over. One of my sons even played it during his birthday party! It is kid-friendly with the approximately three profane words quite well placed. The pace seems a little slow in-between action scenes but overall very enjoyable. There are also cameo appearances by some of the actors from the classic TV series. And just as in the TV series, Dr. Smith seems to be the focal point for maintaining your interest for the duration of the film. Great performance by Gary Oldman as Dr. Smith.

Summary: 172 reviews to look at.... BUT READ MINE :-)
Review: My review of this movie is simple. Buy it. When I invite friends over that don't know about dvd and home theatre, I put this movie in and blow them away. The action is sharp. The special effects are simply in the highest eschelon of movie effects. The story is well done and driven. I like action. I like sci-fi. If you like those two genres... you must simply buy this movie on DVD. It's that simple.

Summary: Lost in my DVD collection
Review: Somehow, great cast + big budget special FX + large fan base DID NOT EQUAL movie blockbuster. A shame, really. LOST IN SPACE could've been the first in a long line of sequels. With luck they could've gotten subsequently better like the STAR TREK motion pictures did. Unfortunately this will probably not happen.

LOST IN SPACE cost a lot to make. It should've filled you with a sense of wonder with it's sci-fi storyline about the first space family on a quest to save the earth. But there really isn't much to draw you in besides the visuals. The cheesiest of the 1960s episodes displayed more creative storylines. (I was disappointed that LOST IN SPACE the movie didn't include a big giant orange carrot man! Kidding.) We've seen all this before only much better. With some careful editing I think LOST IN SPACE could be improved. It's a shame they stuck all the cameos of the original cast at the beginning. That's the worst part of the movie...I'd edit most out. The 1990s disfunctional family idea sucks. You don't really care what happens to any of 'em.

As for the DVD, you get many interesting extras. Check out the list on this web site. The reason I gave the whole thing 3 stars was that the picture and sound just don't rate the perfect score given here. I noticed lots of graininess. Just check out the wall in the Robinson's home. The sounds are very weak. Explosions remind me of a big ball of oatmeal exploding. All the voice dialog sounds like it was recorded in a studio with the same echo no matter where the character is currently speaking. This kind of stuff is more noticeable with DVD.

As for the rest...what was the deal with the animated monkey-thing? Well, I've said enough. Don't expect much and you may enjoy most of it. Oh! The robot is quite good! Same guy doing the voice too. Shame they couldn't get Jonathan Harris (the original Dr. Smith) to do a cameo. "Oh, the pain...the pain..."
