Summary: Good, dumb fun
Review: This movie was a major disappointment for me and a lot of people. It can't be compared to the awsome "Jurassic Park" but it is a lot of fun to watch. If you want a movie with plot and suspense, get the first movie, if you just want to see a bunch of really cool dinosaurs cause trouble and eat people, then this is the movie for you. It's got a basic (rather lame) plot, uninspired characters, and a less than thrilling soundtrack (considering it was scored by the great John Williams, this is suprising) If wanting a copy of this video, I recommend getting the Collector's Edition. The new scenes add to the plot and develop Roland Tembo's (the hunter) character. Like I said, this movie won't go down in history or anything, but it is fun to watch

Review: THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK, is the sequel to the 1993 smash blockbuster JURASSIC PARK. This time, four years later, Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) is asked by the creator of Jurassic Park, John Hammond (Richard Attenborough), to attend a group of three others to another island by Costa Rica where they used to breed the original dinosaurs of Jurassic Park, and check up on them- to see how the animals are surviving and thriving in a natural habitat, with no fences what so ever. Yet, a group of hunters are led by a poacher who has caught everything but a T-Rex and tries to hunt a large male, while an obcessed-with-money businessman tries to take dinosaurs off the island, and bring them to the mainland to create his own park.Note: I saw the first Jurassic Park in theaters when I was six years old and was scared out of my mind! It was a real thrill seaker! Now LOST WORLD, I did see in the theaters as well when I was nine and loved that one as well, but not as much. Even then I noticed the differences in the way Steven Spielberg made the sequel to the original film. MY REVIEW: "This movie is a positive sequel to the original! ("Let me get this straight... no fences this time, and you wanna send people in, very few people on the ground..."- IAN MALCOLM from the movie) JULIANNE MOORE (Hannibal) plays Ian's girlfriend who runs off to the island before everyone else, does a poor job. Her acting was worse than Jar Jar Binks in Star Wars Episode 1! Yet it worked out! Malcolm daughter- (Do you see any family resemblence)- NO! ... ... ... Spielberg what are you doing! Though the movie was fun. More dinosaurs, more action and all but just doesn't have the magic of the original! THE MOVIE IS STILL REALLY GOOD! Why do so many put this movie down? The T-Rex's roar is different for the original Jurassic Park- if you recall. The T-Rex in the original was a lot more scary than these two! The scene where T-Rex eats the lawyer in the original is far more memorable than when the two T-Rex's eat Eddie in this film. But overall this film is just dinorific action f/x filled fun- so check out this hit blockbuster sequel immediately!"- MJV & the Movies

Summary: Nothing Has Survived
Review: I was Extremely Excited to find out in 1997 that a Sequel to the 1992-93 Smash Hit, "Jurassic Park" was going to be released. But when I saw it, it was bland and boring. The acting sucks and the plot is garbage. But anyways, here's the story; Billionare John Hammond (Richard Attenborough), whom was the creator of JP and President of his company, "Ingen", has now filed for Bankruptcy, due to the recuring lawsuits against the family members of the people who died on the island. But, he has a card up his sleeve. Another, called Isla Sorna, or later know as "Site B", tht contains Dinosaurs without fences and patrols, unlike the first island. One of the Survivors from the first island, Iam Malchom (Jeff Goldblum) now protests the idea of studying this island and going on it...then he finds out that his girlfriend is on it already. Immedately he forms a rescue team, which one of them is Photographer Nick Van Owen (Vince Vaughn) and Eddie Carr (Richard from "The West Wing") to search for his love, Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore). But along the way is a ragtag team of Hunters (Taking away Micheal Chricton's version of Dogson and two hunters from the Book version), whom hired by Hammond's Greedy Newphew, Peter Ludlow (Arliss Howard) who wants to create another JP park, on the mainland. Dinos show up, chaos (hehe) happens and a rousing and lame ending, in which the T-Rex romps throughthe steets of San Diego (does the name "Godzilla" sound familiar to you???), Spielburg (which I must say, is his worse film ever since "1941") tries to give the Audence a finale that every one will love....But instead, it's a finale that everyone goes "What the Hell???" Skip this one and watch the classic original or even better, wait and countdown to the reamianing day untill "Jurassic Park 3". Anyway you do it, just don't watch this movie.

Summary: The Lost World: Jurassic Park
Review: When I saw Jurassic Park in the theateres back in 1993, I liked it back then, and to this day I still do. I especially enjoyed the part in the movie that explained how the dinosaurs were cloned, using blood found in fossilized prehistoric mosquitoes. That was the most convincing explanation I'd ever heard in a movie that answered how humans and dinosaurs ever came face to face. It was such a good explanation that it almost made you wonder if it was actually possible. Soon after, we were told from scientists that it wasn't. Oh, well. It was a good adventure movie anyway, and was loaded with some of the most amazing visuals ever to hit the silver screen. Four years later, The Lost World: Jurassic Park was made. Although I was pleased that most of the people involved with the first had returned, I was deepley dissapointed by the way the story had been changed so much from the novel. Perhaps Spielberg changed it in the hopes he'd get lucky the same way he did with Jaws. Unfortunatley, that didn't happen, and the movie sufffered greatly as a result of it. I also didn't approve the way in which the dinosaurs, especially the velociraptors, had been changed in both appearance, and intelligence. They were no longer the skilled cunning killers they were in the original, which diminished their presence, and made them far less interesting to watch, especially for over two hours. And it looked like the filmmakers were trying too hard to make them look scary. The neon, practically glowing, yellow eyes really didn't work for me. And lets face it, dinosaurs aren't scary. They're not monsters, just animals that existed long before us, and amazing ones too. And protraying them as nothing more than monsters, who want only to hunt man just seems unreal and stupid. Once scene that bothered me in particular was when Malcom's daughter manages to get the best of one using her gymnastics skills! As if! All in all, The Lost World's only asset were its special effects. It's too bad the plot, characters, and musical score weren't at least as good as the original's, but that seems to be a common trend among sequels. Fortunatly, Jurassic Park III improved upon The Lost World by offering more dinosaur interaction, smarter characters, though that still isn't saying much. Jurassic Park 3 also ditched those annoying issues about saving the dinosaurs from the evil hunters that appeared in The Lost World. I felt like I was watching a Disney movie. I hope Spielberg has the sense to stay away from the Jurassic Park franchise from now on. Sequels and Spielberg don't mix. They never have, and they never will. And if the next one ends up being like the second installment, it may spell doom for the Jurassic Park franchise. It would be a shame to see something like that happen, because I really enjoyed Jurassic Park, and I know there are stories out there far better than the one used in this movie. I just hope the people who actually make these movies will find one before its too late.

Summary: Will it ever stop??
Review: Now I hear that they made "Jurassic Park 3". Frankly, I hated both films. They are just polished, hi-tech versions of "Godzilla at Monster Island". There was some (SOME) novelty associated with the first film, it held my interest for over 30 minutes. This sequel is for little kiddies only: "Looky at the din-o-sores Daddy!!" Yes pumpkin, ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

Summary: Under-rated sequel deserves a second look...
Review: Though "The Lost World" has been totally ripped apart by critics and audiences over the last 3 years, it really never deserved any of it. It's certainly not as good as "Jurassic Park," but it's surprising well-made for a sequel. The interesting story revolves around Malcom's efforts to rescue his girlfriend on the island where Ingen's dinosaurs were produced. In reality, the movie is one big chase with one expertly directed action scene after another. The raptor scene is especially intense, with a group of people being stalked in a field. The DVD is really a good buy, with great extras and an awesome picture. Oh, and the sound is reference quality, even without DTS. "The Lost World" is spectacular entertainment made even better on DVD. On a side note, the previews for Jurassic Park III are out, and it looks like it might even beat the first movie.

Summary: Here's Why Most Sequels Shouldn't Be Made
Review: "Jurassic Park: The Lost Movie (um, or is it 'World'?)" should never have been made, or should have been made much better. It comes off as a sketch of a movie, with one-dimensional caricatures (I mean characters), little plot, and absolutely none of the wonder that made the first movie worthwhile. Some of the special effects are good, but the brutality, meanness, and ignorance of many of the characters ruins any chance of generating terror (or interest). Jeff Goldblum tries to save the movie with good dialogue and good delivery, but he shouldn't have wasted his time. He should have run away when offered the part, as should viewers scanning the racks at a video store or browsing Amazon for a keeper. What a disappointment!! A better movie, also involving "The Lost World", would come out of Greg Bear's book, "Dinosaur Summer", which I also reviewed.

Summary: Hollywood should never have discovered the word "franchise."
Review: No question, Spielberg made some boneheaded decisions in TLW. The most egregious error, in my book, is finding that stupid severed arm on the tanker. That has to have been the cheapest "boo" ever committed to film. Let's think about that discovery logically. Now, in order for that severed arm to be there, the body it was attached to needs to have been completely bitten away. The death has to be sudden and absolute, or else the victim would likely have used his arm to defend himself. For an entire adult human body to be completely bitten away requires, at a minimum, the mouth and teeth of an adult T. Rex. This brings us to the question of how the adult T. Rex escaped to commit this act in the first place. We have to assume that both the adult and the infant T. Rex were originally loaded into the tanker's cargo hold. If the cargo bay doors were strong enough to hold the adult T. Rex right up until the moment the Ingen knucklehead starts to open them after the ship runs aground, shouldn't they have been strong enough to hold the T. Rex when it was being conveyed to San Diego? Are we also supposed to assume that the crew heard a noise coming from the hold, and opened the cargo bay doors to see what was making the noise? Therefore, if we make that leap in logic, we also have to imagine that a split-second before the adult T. Rex swallows his body up whole, the hapless victim triggered the hydraulic cargo bay doors to shut. The T. Rex then immediately--and cooperatively--re-enters the cargo bay before the doors have a chance to close behind it, trapping it until the tanker steers itself to San Diego? Ri-i-ight. Has anyone ever steered a boat? Any boat? In a lot of ways it's like steering a car, in the sense that the helmsman is constantly required to either tack left or tack right in order to keep the ship on course. If you steer off course just a little, say, a hundred miles out from shore, you miss your destination by a lot when you hit land. Anyway, that entire sequence was laughable.

Summary: Almost as good as the first film
Review: This movie is a great movie if you are into thrillers, it made the first Jurassic Park seem like a happy movie. The majority of this movie has a dark, scary theme to it, making it a lot more thrilling. Even though I don't feel the actors are as good in this one, Goldblum did a decent job in acting his role out. Also the dinosaurs are more believable and realistic in this movie than in the first. Thats how it earned my four stars.

Trying to stop InGen, a company seeking to make another dinosaur park, and keep their lives in the process. As a sequel, this movie was just as good as the first, so experience this thriler and watch it today.
