Rating: Summary: Worth it. Review: This 4-disc set gives you everything you could possibly want (well, the other DVD has the Enya music video and the TV spots). This definitly lived up to my expectations. Ever since I got into Lord of the Rings, I have been interested in the cast and their relationships with each other. The Commentary with the Cast will bring a smile to your face as the four hobbits (Wood, Astin, Boyd, Monaghan)are hilarious...My personal favorites in the appendicies are "The Fellowship of the Cast" and "The Day in a life of a Hobbit" Both on Disc Four The extended and new scenes are awesome. The Passing of the Elves, At the Green Dragon, and the "Lembas" chapter are really cool. So buy this!! Even if you already have the other one!!
Rating: Summary: This Sets the Bars. Review: This collection sets the bar on how any special DVD set should be put together. Everything put onto this DVD is interesting and worth seeing. Not only is it amazing to see what went into making a book (I never read, but read and dare I say near-worshiped) by millions into a movie that millions would enjoy and understand, it is put together in an enjoyable format. It's part like watching a Discovery Channel Behind the Scenes Special and part like being able to watch all the people who created this world tell you how they did it. This is what DVDs were made for. I caution you, it may make it impossible to enjoy any other Collector's Edition you pick up that does not compare.
Rating: Summary: a most for lord of the rings fans Review: This DVD collecters set I recommend for LOTR fans.
Rating: Summary: DEPTH! Review: This DVD edition adds depth to the story which makes it feel "more like tolkien" and the extra features are unbelievably good. I'm only a fraction of the way through them, and they've made me very happy! They should be required viewing for all film students. This is the way movies should be made! With love, passion and the master craft of men like Peter Jackson, and Richard Taylor, and women like Fran Walsh and Phillipa Boyens.
Rating: Summary: Must have! Review: This DVD is a MUST HAVE for any LotR fan. The extended edition icorporates 30 minutes of added footage directly into the feature, and a cheater guide accompanies the DVD to let you know where to look for the new footage. Also, the extras on this disc provide hours and hours of behind the scenes tape of the making of the movie (and they're careful to only show the making of THIS movie) all the way up to the LA premiere. There aren't enough stars for this one.
Rating: Summary: A must for Ring fans Review: This DVD is a must own for Lord of the Ring fans. Im not going to go to any of the storyline of Fellowship. The movie part of this DVD has 30 more minutes added to it. It shows some deleted scenes, and scenes that will help you understand some parts of the next movie. The appendices to the movie are cool. They show the making of the movie, go into character breakdown, and basicly tell the epic of making the movie. Like I said earlier, this is a must for all Lord of the Ring fans. Don't miss out on it.
Rating: Summary: Lord of the Stinks Review: This DVD is a waste of money and has no real enjoyable value, only special features, and even those provide no enjoyment. Liv Tyler does bad, Cate is bad, Elijah is bad ,and everyone else does not do a great job. Do not buy it!
Rating: Summary: breathtaking fantasy film making at it's best. Review: This DVD is about the best quality DVD I have ever seen. The film itself is flawless in quality and the extras on Disc 2 are absolutely fantastic. Simply put this is a MUST for anyone who has ever loved Fantasy film making and if you are a real Tolkien fan buy this AND the Deluxe boxed set in November of 2002!!
