Summary: I wouldn't change a thing!
Review: Just a few months ago I found "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy to be too complicated to enjoy, but I am now a huge fan of Peter Jackson's work. Although, this is a complicated series for casual viewers that decide to watch the series with little knowledge of the books and the story in general. With all three movies combined being around ten hours long, this is not a "spur-of-the-moment" thing to watch. But the movie is nevertheless profound and definitly a masterpiece to watch. I do though encourage many that are not familiar with this series to open up to what may at first seem to be just a violent fantasy. With all of Tolkien's interesting and well thought out characters, it becomes more than that. I also thought that these were incredibly well cast characters and the actors portray these characters perfectly (Orlando Bloom being one of my favorite actors in the movie). For those that are already extreme fans of Tolkien's original books, many believe that Jackson supposedly did not stay close to all of the events of the book and tweaked them a bit. Though this may be true, this was a smart move for Jackson for those that are not so nit-picky about the story will be falling asleep during the first quarter of the book if it were kept to its original form. This DVD collection though does include about half an hour of bonus scenes but still does not drag on the story too much. If you do become tired of watching the movie (which I doubt in my case) then the two extra disks of appendices are just as entertaining. The extras range from the life of the creator of Middle Earth to the costume design and the actors. I have spent many snow days just flipping through this extended editon of the "Fellowship of the Ring".

Summary: Overrated, boring, and inferior to the book
Review: Just a lot of violence, ridiculous and excessive CGI, and frantic pacing in order to pack in plot details from the book. I left before the movie ended as did many others in the theatre. I will not be looking forward to the next installment of this series. I plan on reading the trilogy again sometime soon in order to erase the poor effect this movie had on me. If you like the book for what it really was, you won't enjoy this sub-par action flick.

go see it..let yourself go and enjoy..a great ride..

Summary: DVD Extended--A Must for LOTR fans
Review: Just fab.......I can't say enough about this. It explains everything to the less book minded. As a Tolkien faithful follower the film does a good job at adaptation of the book. I do miss Tom Bombadil.....
I think after watching the movies it's a must to read the book.

Summary: THIS IS WHAT THE MOVIE SHOULD HAVE BEEN.
Review: Just the addtions to the opening scene are worth the money. I am amazed at the difference between this and the original movie. There is more character development and the movie just seems to flow better. I love this version and will watch it for years to come.

Summary: The complete package
Review: Just wanted to add my praise to the mix, as this is the definitve version of an already rich movie. The new and extended scenes add more depth to the characters and plot, and to the overall feel of Tolkien and Jackson's world. The DVD package also nicely labels which scenes have been added, which is very convenient. The extras on the last 2 DVD's will take you a whole weekend to watch, but it can be enjoyable to learn more about filmmaking in general. You really get to see how much talent and effort was tapped in making this movie. My favortite extras were the artist's galleries with commenteries by Alan Lee, and "The Road Goes Ever On..." where you see video Elijah Wood filmed at the movie's premiere. One of the best DVD's ever - and don't forget the 2 easter eggs! (A long trailer for LOTR:TTT, and a cute MTV Movie Award spoof of the Council of Elrond with Jack Black and Sarah Michelle Gellar!)

Summary: Very well done indeed.
Review: Just wanted to add my voice to the others who gave this 5 stars. The Direction is superb. The acting is, by and large, very good. And, of course, the story is classic (Jackson altered the story a bit, which I didn't really like to see, but the overall movie is so good that, on the whole, it still warrants 5 stars). ....
