Summary: A must-see film
Review: I saw this film with huge expectations and am pleased to say that the film matched and went well beyond what I had hoped it would be. In fact I'm going to see it again very soon and few movies have called me back to the theatre so soon as this one has. It's such a huge film that its difficult to take it all in in one sitting - there is so much to see, consider and enjoy. Its almost 3 hours long (but I wouldn't have minded if it was 4 hours or more!) but you don't realise this as the film goes by in a flash. It was so immersive that at times you really were there with the Fellowship and not a mere spectator in a darkened theatre. What to like? Just about everything! - the wonderful and perfect casting esp Gandalf and Frodo, the great scenery and costumes, the amazing well-done translation of the story...(yes its not 100% true to the story but it could never be in 3 hours and lets face it a lot of Tolkien is slow/redundant unless you wanted a 30 hour movie with every song, poem and history in the first book), the amazing action scenes and the brilliant CGI! Carrying it all along are wonderful little Tolkien lore flourishes and added humour by Peter Jackson all which adds variety and dimension. One of the highlights for me was the moving camera-work which really brings you into the story and helps fully realise the grandeur, beauty and horror of Middle-Earth. And there is more to come as FOTR is only Part 1 of 3 - with two more films to fully deliver on the whole LOTR story. How does it compare to other films? - well its an action epic - and will now definitely set the benchmark in this genre. Its the best action movie I have ever seen and puts the likes of the very disappointing Star Wars Phantom Menance and the very average Harry Potter: TPS to shame. The doubters? Well there seems to be only a few of these so far and you can read a couple of their reviews here but the large majority of critical, hardcore Tolkien fan and casual viewer reaction has been overwhemlingly positive. This film may be one of the greatest ever made - and especially so when the trilogy is complete and the whole story stands on its own. Beg, borrow or steal a ticket to this movie! You won't be disappointed.

Summary: Excellent film
Review: I saw this film with two people who never read the trilogy. They both loved it as did I. I'm going to do something that I normally do not do - I'm going to go watch this movie again.

Summary: cool
Review: I saw this movie 32 times in the theartre. It was and is the best. I loved it just as much the 32nd time as the 1st. I recommend this movie for everyone who likes good movies. I recommend the book as well since it is better than the movie. Thank You

Summary: A truly great and awe-inspiring film!
Review: I saw this movie 5 times and each time I was sucked in right from Cate Blanchett's opening narration. Thank goodness the job of directing this trilogy was given to Peter Jackson. I cringe to imagine what it would have looked like if it had been left to your average "Hollywood" director. While I do have small quibbles with the film (where is the scene of Gimli asking Galadriel for a lock of her hair?!) there was nothing so major that could possibly ruin the experience of seeing this film. I mean, watching Ian McKellan face off against the Balrog was well worth the price of admission! I plan on buying all the DVD's and watching this movie for years to come. I look forward to the day when theatres will do special showings where they play all three films back-to-back-to-back!

Summary: FANTASTIC
Review: I saw this movie and its the only one I want to see again
and again! The characters were cast perfectly. Orlando
Bloom as Legolas is wonderful. His beauty portrays the elf
I had in my mind. Aragorn was also fantatic! I highly
recommend this one!

Summary: A "Precious" Film!
Review: I saw this movie at 12:01 AM the day it came out! At that time, I hadn't read the books, but now I'm an official member of the Lord of the Rings Cult. I've seen it three times, and it gets better each time. The first time I saw it, I cried through the whole thing. It's romantic and touching, yet thought-provoking and horrific at the same time. There's something for everybody in this movie, whether you like love or battles. It's the perfect balance between a chick-flick, a literary film, and a manly movie. The actors were AMAZING, and they fit the characters perfectly. Fans of the books, you won't be disappointed! The movie is a bit different from the novels, but overall it's very true to the characters, plots, and settings created by JRR Tolkien. If you want to witness something that will change your life forever, please check out The Fellowship of the Ring.

Summary: Don't listen to those who gave it 4.5 Stars.
Review: I saw this movie at a press screening, and I must say, this is one of the best movies I have ever seen in my entire life. Those who give it any less than 5 stars are just petty and picky. They try too hard to compare a movie, one that was interpreted through the eyes of another, to their own imagination. They need to let that go, and just enjoy the movie as just another way to tell the same story.

The movie is absolutely SPECTACULAR! I have never seen such ambition and flawless story telling and directing. The acting and casting is perfect by any standard, and the battles are truly something to behold. The costumes and props are unparalleled, and the secenery is enough of a reason to book a ticket to New Zealand (where it was filmed). (...)

Summary: Outstanding! Fantastic! Incredible!
Review: I saw this movie at the preview organized in Lithuania. And I can well say it is the best movie I've ever seen. It even dropped my previous No.1 movie "The Matrix" to the second place. It was 3 hours long, but only felt like a 1.5 hour. After it, I felt I could sit yet for another 3 hours, just to see the second movie. It is so hard to wait for another one for the whole year!

Why is it so charming? I won't speak about the book it is based on - it WAS already recongnized by readers as a bible of fantasy. First of all, for the characters: E.Wood as Frodo, and I.McKellen as Gandalf - they don't play the characters, they ARE the characters. Second, the atmosphere: you don't watch the movie, you take part in it. Third, you don't notice the sp.effects, they're unseparable from all the rest. Fourth... you have to see it for yourself.

It is all time greatest.

Summary: Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
Review: I saw this movie in an older theater. Thinking that I knew the stories well, I wouldn't need the newer IMAX screen. I was both right and wrong. The theater was alright, the movie showed well, but the glamour and excitement would have been more if it was on the bigger screen.

The movie itself was very compelling and well scripted. My son and husband were very dissappointed at the ending. They said it left them hanging. This movie will bother them until they see the next one and know the ending. I just hope it is as well written and acted as Fellowship of the Ring.
