Rating: Summary: Why isn't this on DVD yet! Review: This is such a great, yet highly under-rated sci-fi drama. Louis Gossett, Jr. is excellent as the alien and Dennis Quaid's performance is moving and extremely convincing. Sworn enemies, humans and this strange and highly mis-understood race of aliens (Draconians) are at constant war. When Quaid & Gossett end up shooting each other out of the sky and falling onto an uninhabited planet, they are forced to find common ground in order to survive. While they first attempt to kill one another, they gradually become reluctant friends and eventually blood brothers. Draconians are a very different species and there are no gender differences, so all Draconians experience child birth. When Gossett's character finds himself with child, a new dynamic is thrown into the story that shows the extent to which Quaid will go for his new best friend. The scenes to follow are moving and tender. Still sci-fi, but not a Terminator meets the Alien type of film. Not your typical sci-fi, but fabulous nonetheless. Why this isn't available on DVD is beyond me.
Rating: Summary: Must-have for all true Sci-Fi fans Review: This is truly a modern classic. The moral to this film is that you can get past prejudices by appreciating each other's differences. There is something for everyone here, from a space battle to deep philosophy, to gunplay, to meteor showers. Every fan of Science Fiction will find something they like in this film. END
Rating: Summary: SCI FI CLASSIC! Review: This movie is a MUST get for any Sci-Fi movie lover! Lou Gossett and Dennis Quaid give a 5 star performance for a 80's movie. Costume design and plot were put together well! Must buy!

Rating: Summary: Excellent Sci-Fi Review: This movie looked intresting, so I rented it. I got a great suprise. This is an excellent movie. Humans are at war with an alien race called The Drack. A fighter pilot desperatly trys to shoot down an enemy space fighter. They get to close to a planet and both crash. The planet is a barren wast land. They are the only intelegent life on the planet. The two enemies must learn to trust each other to survive. The Dracks are both male and female. The Drack becomes pregnant and dies wile giving birth. It is up to the man to raise the baby drack, and teach him about his culture.
Rating: Summary: Human Nature Review: This movie while excellent sci-fi is also a morality play as well. It shows what we as humans are capable of...utter brutality in the name of whatever we define as right and utter selflessness and sacrifice for what we believe is right. The human, once he has totally befriended the Drac, swears to his friend that he will care for the offspring. When Zamis and our hero are separated by slavers, Quaid tells his rescuers that he has to go back and rescue his young ward. His comrades say he's crazy, it's only a Drac, but back he goes to the rescue because his personal honor is at stake. Great movie...I love happy endings. I don't have the DVD...yet
Rating: Summary: For all who really love a good story Review: This Sci-Fi film, about two mortal enemys stranded on a desolate planet is a top notch film. Overcoming their predjudice and lack of trust, they learn respect for one another. This leads into a true friendship that is deep and abiding. The special effects are very well done, the actors put out an excellent performance, the editors put it together well, and the story is a good one. I give two thumbs up to this one and will watch it again and again.
Rating: Summary: A must have for all hard core SCI-FI fans. Review: This starts out as a good buddy movie. Two enemies crash land on a uninhabited planet, and become friends. I believe that the Drac character dies too soon and the pace slows down with his(?) child. The ending is also two conviniate and simple. But that is okay because of the wonderful makeup and set designs.
Rating: Summary: Interesting but disjointed film. Review: Well into filming of "Enemy Mine",the director was sacked and replace by Wolfgang Peterson whom had the previous director's footage destroyed as to avoid comparisons. A pity as that footage would have made an interesting extra as that film was said to have some good footage. This unwarranted sacking has resulted in a disjointed film which has had major parts ommitted. There is also an attempt at humour that doesn't work such as a creature burping and a Mickey Mouse joke. Such stuff does not work in a serious science fiction film which this attempts to be .When I saw this in the movie theatre, there was sniggers as Dennis Quaid's character goes from regarding his opponent as his mortal enemy to talking as if they were old friends. Despite this, the production values and set design are outstanding and it ends up being a warm-hearted story reminiscent of "Robinson Crusoe On Mars". A disjointed and uneven story, but still entertaining. The "extras" on this DVD consist of a paltry 3 photos and a scratchy 4X3 trailer. Not much there. Fortunately, the film is in widescreen.
Rating: Summary: A little cheesy, but what the heck... Review: Well, I can only say that this movie sort explores the inner natures of humans/aliens rather than being an entirely science fiction story. Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett Jr. played supposedly mortal adversaries who both crashed onto a hostile planet. Together, they must work with one another in order to survive. The only part of the movie that I thought was a little out of this world (or somewhat silly) is that the Louis Gosset Jr.'s character gave birth and died during the process. It kind of smothered the story a little as Dennis Quaid's character must now somehow raise the baby alien by himself. Anyways, I would say that movie is sort of OK and is good for rental.
