Review: I think this a much more deep better version of the time machine than the original old choppy version was!!!THIS MOVIE GOES SO GREAT AND DEEP!COOL MOVIE!GREAT LOVE STORY/AND THE REST OF THE STORY LINE!WATCH IT!!I reccomend it for all ages!(not too young!)

Summary: Beautiful but empty
Review: Once again, Hollywood underestimates the intelligence of its audience by torturing a socially-conscious novel into an over-hyped, under-cooked, popcorn movie. Do the guys at Dreamworks seriously believe we are so unintelligent that we cannot cope with a decent adaptation? Would we all run screaming from the cinema, demanding our money back because there weren't enough romantic scenes, chase sequences, plot holes, or cortex-splintering special effects? Or maybe their reasoning is more sinister: perhaps a dystopian fantasy about an effete leisure class living off the misery of a race of underlings is simply too close to the actual relationship between Hollywood executives and the audience. But hey, it wasn't all bad, I guess. The time machine itself was beautiful, and the initial trip to 2030 was superbly done. The music wasn't bad, either. And Guy Pearce did a fine job, given what he had to work with. I just wish Hollywood would leave sci-fi novels alone - or have the guts to do them properly. If you want to tell your own time travel story, fine. Go do it. But don't call it 'The Time Machine' and try to trade on the success of novel you clearly don't respect.

Summary: unarchetypical male hero
Review: I once thought that only the most superlative of Science Fiction films could engender a black mood and that perhaps only the most sensitive of film buffs could detect it. Okay, I was wrong. Even though The Time Machine (2002) can't use its 22.5 million first weekend gross to spend on rave reviews, it does have a spark of adventure and I did feel the gray sky encroaching in the latter hour. A+ for effort and the time spinning effects were marvelous! Guy Pearce has already proven (LA Confidential, Memento) that his earnest histrionics were worth the big ticket and this time conveys his ability to be the unarchetypical male hero; exchanging gun-totin', foul mouthed witticisms for slick intellect and a cappuccino frothin' time ride. Jeremy Irons plays a terrifically terrifying Morlock lord who obviously wasn't very hungry and feeling mucho catty to let a tasty morsel like Alexander walk. If you've read HG Wells book of the same name then the story will have you reminiscing. If you haven't then perhaps you may wonder what kind of web could spin such an unbelievable tale! This movie might score a B- in some skeptics corners; but I doubt it. Take the kids -- it is a well guarded PG-13 and the only suggestive moments are when Ms. Mumba makes a bad wardrobe call and one intense moment that proved: you cannot change the past but can make earnest effort to enhance the opposite. It'll scare the little ones and evoke imagination in the bigger ones. I, on the other hand, found myself mapping out the sets while watching it (this happened during some parts of The Fifth Element although it was a better yarn). Good sets and great sound track but if you aren't taking the kids then save it for DVD.

Summary: excellent, jaw-dropping, great film
Review: Very original and beautifully done, The Time Machine is great for those haunted by those two most horrible words "What if?" (as Jeremy Irons states in his singular but movie-stealing scene.) Even the most jaded movie-goer will be shocked and captivated by the special effects that this movie has at nearly every second.Orlando Jones is excellent as "a compendium of all human knowledge" in the NY Public Library. There is an excellent dig as he looks up the subject "time travel" for the hero, coming up with "The Time Machine" by HG Wells, now a musical with a score by Andrew Lloyd Webber -- which he proceeds to sing ..... Samantha Mumba, the Scottish pop star, proves she will not go the way of Britney Spears in "Crossroads" as a diva becoming an actress. She is completely believable as Mara, a futuristic woman of the Eloi people. Her younger brother Omero plays, well, her brother -- he is so cute and talented! GREAT GREAT GREAT film -- you have to see it, it is indescribable!

Summary: what if....
Review: A thoroughly enjoyable rendition that doesn't intend to be the book but could benefit from a little more heart. The score is stunning for a debut (very reminiscent of Jerry Goldsmith)and the effects and fast pacing are also great although I think that Simon Wells expects the viewers to already know the premise.I had higher..or different...hopes from this film and was only slightly disappointed. I would have liked the film to have had a little darker intent and hinted a little more at the social underpinnings but then.....good anyway!!!!

Summary: Open Your Mind
Review: God this film gets bashed on. I saw it 4 times in the theatre because I was so impressed by it. I thought the movie was very well done, the music is great, so are the special effects, and graphics. The immense magnitude is what I believe all the little minded/half witted viewers can't handle. I'm sorry, but you need to rate the movie, not your inadequacies in relation. I see no possibilities as to why this beautiful and magnificent film failed in so many eyes. Sad it's so underated.

Review: Despite of its mediocre review that this movie has received, I still find this movie quite interesting. Although I will have to admit that last quarter of the movie can use more work in terms of story. Having known a few people working on the visual effects shot of this movie, and being a visual effect artist myself, the time lapse effects done by Digital Domain are just phenomenal. Thus for visual effect students, this movie is definitely worth a close observation. Kudo to Digital Domain.

Summary: Phenominal effects, superior plot
Review: This is one of my most favorite movies of all-time. So it's not exactly like the book or the 1960's version..Times have changed since Wells' bleak forecast of the future caste system. The adventure and intrigue in this movie is fantastic and your eyes are always treated to the marvels of computer animation and renditions. I highly recommend that you see this movie, not to compare it with its predecessors, but to enjoy it for the sheer cinematic brilliance it displays.

Summary: Just enjoy the movie
Review: It's good entertainment, really. The story is charming. A scientist loses his love and naturally he wants to use his genius to try to change what happened. This sets in motion some fantastic events that are brought to the screen with some very breathtaking and beautiful cinematography, special effects and acting from Guy Pearce and surprisingly, Samantha Mumba, in her first outing. This is sci fi fantasy and if looked at in that way I can't see how it can't be enjoyed. I had a good time at the show with this one. I'm looking forward to the dvd that will be released soon so I can see the deleted scenes. The shot of the moon breaking up is wonderful. Recommended.

The bad acting and plot turns a good possibly movie in a really bad B-Movie
The Morlocks, were more believable in the original film 1960.

What went wrong with this production.
Simon Wells Please, please obtain a copy of the earlier Time Machine and learn something...... The storyline and character development, it's was superior in it's visuals and action quotient. I still feel the original Rod Taylor and Yvette Mimieux were brilliant together.......
