Summary: Stunning
Review: What can I say? The best film director working today assembled the cast he dreamed of and delivered the film of his dreams. Movie is too light a word, Luc Besson understands the medium of film and uses it to its full potential.

Bruce Willis is on familiar ground, but he shows us that he can do more then Die Hard, that Pulp Fiction was not just a one-off.

And Milla Jovovich..... A revelation. If she never again matches this performance it will not matter. This one time puts her Up There as far as I am concerned. With poise, posture and intonation she tells us all that we cannot hear her say. Stunning in more ways than one.

If you're looking for answers look elsewhere. The Fifth Element is not the deep, challenging, intellectual film so beloved of the critics. Instead it's fun, enjoyable and uplifting. Luc Besson wanted to share a dream with us and he's done just that. I can't ask for anything more. END

Summary: Entertaining Sci Fi Fun
Review: Short on plot, but brimming with humor, energy, and creativity, "The Fifth Element" takes it's viewers on an entertaining two hour ride into the imagination of Luc Besson ("La Femme Nikita", "The Professional").

One great thing about the film is how skillfully Besson weaves the sci fi conventions (usually an obstacle for most films in this genre) into the movie in a believable and unobtrusive way. Another positive aspect of the film are the fun and appropriate performances of the main actors. Bruce Willis emotes his familiar sympathetic hero chops as a down-on-his-luck cabbie (and one time government agent) named Corbin Dallas. Milla Jovovich does some of her best work portraying the alien Supreme Being, Leeloo. And Ian Holm displays wonderful comdedic timing as a beleagured priest.

I think what ultimately makes the movie so successful, however, is Besson's ability to develop little "moments" thoughout the movie. Besson takes care to bring out the work of the actors while maintaining his director's sense of pacing.

DVD-wise, there isn't much to write home about. The disc does manage to do justice to the great soundtrack and effects and the video transfer is (naturally) quite good. Unfortunately, there are no real extras to speak of. A director's commentary or behind the scenes piece would have really rounded out this DVD, but are conspicuously absent.

All in all I think this is great sci fi and worth a look.

Summary: This is the most fantastic movie!
Review: I loved every minute of this movie. Right from the beginning it grabs your attention and doesn't let you go 'til the last second, when the credits are rolling and you want to see it again and again. I saw this movie 4 times in the theaters, 3 times in the US, and once in France, where the film originated. I loved it more and more every time. I've memorized nearly every line, and I bought the soundtrack a week after I saw the movie for the first time. The Fifth Element holds some power over me... it makes the future look pretty freaky, especially with the airline attendants with those, uh... "interesting" outfits, but it does make the future colorful and fascinating! Bruce Willis is a wonderful actor, and he works really well with the carrot-top Mila Jovovich. (who looks really strange to me when i saw a pic of her with her real hair color!) The Diva's voice is phenomenal, and I sat in silence, barely breathing when I first heard her sing. That 2 minute song alone is worth the $17 for the cd. To wrap this up, if you havn't seen this movie, go see it. If you saw it and didn't like it, you're crazy. Bye now! END

Summary: This movie was underrated!
Review: From now on, I'm going to stop reading what the so-called "movie critics" have to say. They're the reason I didn't see this movie in the theater, and now I really regret it. The impressive special effects came through even on my television set, but they were just icing. I'm not a big fan of Bruce Willis in "action-hero" mode, but his was a wonderful, 3-dimensional performance. He didn't spout smart-alecky quips while blowing away his enemies; he panicked, he got exasperated, he was funny and human! Milla Jovovich (spelling?) was fascinating as the bizarre and complex "supreme being." Gary Oldman, the priest and every supporting character did excellent work. The evocative music enhanced every scene. I especially enjoyed the quirky sense of humor and attention to detail throughout the movie. The beginning scene in Egypt dragged a bit, but once the plot moved forward into the future, I was completely captivated until the end. Maybe the critics only like movies that they can fit into neat categories: The Fifth Element defies easy labels and has a personality all its own. END

Summary: Forget Star Wars, This is the new standard in Sci-Fi
Review: My all time favorite movie. The Fifth Element perfectly blends great sci-fi action, comedy, and in the end, a powerful, dramatic message of our weaknesses and strengths as humans that universally bond us together above all else. Luc Besson has crafted an outstanding film in every way, and the visuals of this year 2259 world are alone a must-see. END

Summary: This is probly the best movie ever.
Review: As I saw the comercials for this movie I thought "Well this looks like a pretty bad movie" Because the previews were kind of bad. I finally decided to rent it when it came out becuase one of my friends said this movie was really good. As I watched it I was tranquilized. I knew that I was a fan just from watching the first few scenes. Its just a really really good movie. Any one who reads this should go out right now and rent or buy it. END

Summary: have fun and special effects!!!!!!!
Review: Bruce Willis drives a cab, but this time through the air!! He is our poor and abandoned hero again that has in his hands the future of the Universe. This is one of the best films of the genre. END

Summary: WITTY, FUN, AND EXITING!
Review: One of my all-time favorites! The Fifth Element throws together a wonderful and amazing mix of humor and action. This movie stands alone as the first of its kind. Korban Dallas (Bruce Willis) teems up with beautiful and "perfect" Leeloo (Milla Jojovich) and the two put on a stunning display of witt, cunning, strength, and sharp-shooting in an effort to save the world (believe me folks- it is not near as corny as it sounds). Summary: WOW!! eXcellent quality DVD.
Review: The movie is just plan fun. It is way over the top in almost every aspect, but that is what made it so great. The DVD is very high quality. About the only thing lacking is all the special features that movies like Contact, L.A. Confidential, or 12 Monkeys have. END
