Summary: If Heinlein wasn't dead, this wouldn't killed him.
Review: In my opinion, if you disagree with the philosophical slant of a work of literature, you create your own work of literature to contradict it, you don't turn the original work into a monstrous caricature of itself. The creators of this movie obviously had no sympathy or even comprehension for what Mr. Heinlein was trying to say. (The philosophical bent of the film's creators can be illustrated by one quote from the DVD commentary when one of them stated, "People who think that Fascism died with the end of WW II or the Fall of the Berlin Wall should look out, the Republicans could be back in office again!") I could spend 100,000 words, much less 1,000, cataloging all the errors and distortions in this mess. Just a few -- far from being a military dictatorship, Heinlein specifically stated in his novel that no one could even vote in his society until AFTER they had finished their government (and not necessarily military) service. Heinlein would never have portrayed the two senior officers on a military vessel abandoning ship without even attempting to rescue the rest of the crew. Neither in Heinlein's book nor anywhere else where corporal punishment was routinely used were bullwhips used, they are entirely unsuited for the job(but of course, they look really cool.) The quote regarding the city fathers of Hiroshima was supposed to be have been Carthage (and is entirely unsuited to Hiroshima, at last reports, it is still a thriving community.) --But what's the point? Avoid, avoid, avoid! (Two stars only for excellent--and wasted special effects.)

Summary: Great and Cheesy "B" Movie
Review: You have to appreciate when a movie like this comes along. It was a real "B" Movie in a way and I found myself enjoying it because it goeas against every rule that makes a "good" movie good. The plot was thin, the acting was awful, the whole idea was lame, but again that's why it was so good. The special effects were also quite stunning. Rent this or buy it, it won't disappoint. Just expect nothing, and you'll appreciate it more!

Summary: From Heinlein's crypto-fascist story
Review: Even as a kid, reading this story gave me some reservations about a future earth where the only path to full citizenship (i.e. the right to vote) was restricted to those who performed a service to the State. In this case, military service against totally unsympathetic alien bugs. The film is loyal to the book, which does not recommend it, Add to that some godawful acting from clueless unknowns and you have a special effects disaster of a film. No wonder it took fifty years to make a movie of Heinlein's "classic".

Summary: ST among the greatest movies ever made
Review: An incredible blend of action, visual effects, and musical score, I was completely blown away. Special thanks to Paul Verhoeven...because the acting in the film is INTENTIONAL. Can't anyone see that? The only questionable performance I could see was Michael Ironside's...you know he is a fine actor...he said his lines exactly the way he was supposed to...this was a film loaded with satire. It takes an intelligent person to see that. I can't get enough of STARSHIP TROOPERS!!!

Summary: Worth your time and money
Review: This movie takes a different approach, based partly on the 1940's style of movie making mixed with the 1990's special effects. You can't compare it to the original book and expect the same nostalgia of that era. However, if you are looking for an entertaining movie that will put you on the edge of your seat, this is the ticket.

Summary: One of the best SCI-FI ever
Review: Definitely one of the best SCI-FI movie ever. Never have I seen a movie filled with such excitement and gore. A must see for fans of the computer game "Starcraft". But I'm a bit disappointed by how some people couldn't comprehend this movie as a comical satire of fascism (I thought this was a really smart concept). I feel bad for the director, who had every intention of making a sequel to this movie if it made a hit. Oh well...

Summary: They destroyed the book
Review: This prehensile movie is a discrace to its wonderful lineage

Summary: Nose Bleed Fast, and Out of Control
Review: If your into the Sci- Fi or Action genre you'll give this movie five stars for its fast paced, bloody, battle scenes, with its blazing effects, "comic book" style acting (reminicent of "Evil Dead 2"), and its earth shattering surround sound. It can easily be described as the "Motorhead" of movies. If your not into the genre you still might find "Starship Troopers" funny with its hilariously satirical views on the media, and the military of the future. One things for sure, you'll either LOVE it or HATE it so why not give it a try? This movie is DEADLY!!!!

Summary: One of the best movies I have ever seen
Review: I loved the graphics and alien bugs. They didn't surpass the aliens in the Alien saga but they were plentiful and thats very rare in any movie. See this movie at least once, judge for your self. And buy it from this place, I have never seen such a drop in prices. You can get this movei for 2 to 6 dollars less on line than from your local store!!!!
