Summary: A New Idea - A Great Movie!
Review: "The Matrix" brings new meaning to the word "creative". Although, confusing at first, "The Matrix" shows a very different perspective on the way the world works. You may have to watch it a couple of times though, to really understand everything.

The special effects in the movie are incredible. Because of the situation the movie takes place in, the makers could go to the extreme with special effects, and they did, and they did a great job.

The sound is also of high quality, featuring top bands such as "Rage Against Machine" and "Ramstien", which really get the veiwer's heart pumping and make the action even better.

All around, "The Matrix" is a very good movie, well worth watching, although you may have to watch it a couple of times to fully understand it.

Summary: What is real?
Review: "The Matrix" definitely asks that question. I had the chance of seeing it in theaters, and let me tell you that it was one of the mose riveting movie experiences I've had in a long time.
"The Matrix" follows the story of Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves), who goes by the alias of 'Neo' by night, when he works as a computer hacker. His life is turned upside down when he meets Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne), two people who reveal a secret so stunning that Neo is unable to believe. From there on it's a complete and awesome thrill ride.
The special effects, camerawork, and editing are all top notch. "The Matrix" plays with your mind at every turn, and hopefully everyone will like it.

Summary: The movie that can never be seen just once
Review: "The Matrix" demands repeated viewings for two reasons. Firstly, the story and special effects are too advanced to be fully understood the first time. Secondly, the movie is just too good to be left alone. The movie's plot is incredible. The concept that our entire lives are really just dreams melded into one giant world by machines who are using humans as a power source is quite possibly the most interesting and original story ever conceived for a movie. I am not going to go any farther into the story, it will take far too long to describe. That's why no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself. And once you have, you will never forget it.
The movie's plot is, however, not what makes it famous. It's the special effects. For the first time ever, we saw a camera go all the way around a moving object, as seen when Neo dodges the bullets, the movie's signature moment. It is also the scene that countless other movies have stolen, for spoofs and otherwise. Because of this, the two sequels have been made with all-new special effects. Joel Silver, the producer, has said that no one will copy them because they are so complex. That makes any "Matrix" fan's heart skip a beat. It seems inconceivable that they could make it that good, but I believe it. On May 15, 2003, "The Matrix Reloaded" hits theaters nationwide.
As for the DVD, the quality is excellent. The movie is clear and the colors are crisp. The movie is very worthy of a two-disc set, but it only has one. To make up for it, a supplementary disc, "The Matrix Revisited" was released. It's a great feature on the making of the movie from concept to completion. I recommend it to every "Matrix" fan.
Thanks for reading my review, I hope it helped you!

Summary: More Hollywood Fluff
Review: "The Matrix" does have some interesting philosophical concepts, but they are not developed in any way throughout the duration of the film. Like other over-budgetted action-fests today, the directors are afraid of introducing anything original or imaginative into the plot as the typical viewer is likely to reject it as being "off-kilter" in some way or another. This would also introduce the risk of losing money, as these kind of films are purely commercial. So you wind up with a cliched bag of special effects and hackneyed dialogue that would make most people that haven't grown up on "Riki Lake" cringe. Moronic considering all that could have been done with such an idea. I give it two stars only for several of the spectacular effects that, on their own, would make some magnificent pieces of art.

Summary: "The Matrix" DVD could possibly get you evicted
Review: "The Matrix" DVD brings home the visual and audio adrenaline rush of what, in my opinion has been the best Sci Fi offering in recent memory. This DVD is a must have for any collection. The translation to disc is flawless, the colors are crisp and the sound, for those of you with surround sound, could very well get you evicted from your apt.,or At the least provoke a few knocks on the floor from the neighbor below you. There really isn't much more to say, other than there was no better action/sci fi movie this year, and most likely no better DVD out this year. Bottom line, get it, period.

Summary: One of the Greatest Sci Fi Movies of all Time!
Review: "The Matrix" has to be rated with "Star Wars" and "Blade Runner" as one of the best Sci Fi movies of all time! This movie has it all: a wonderful storyline, excellent acting, the best special effects of all time, nonstop action, romance, wonderful fight sequences and best of all two sequels to follow! This is one of the few perfect movies I have seen. This movie must be viewed on a large screen, letterboxed edition and with surround sound. It must be seen several times to fully appreciate all of the subtleties of the story line. "The Matrix" must be viewed in the DVD letterbox edition as VHS does not do it justice. After I purchased my DVD player this was the first movie I bought.

Summary: Should Be Known As The Greatest Movie Of All Time!
Review: "The Matrix" is a classic. "The Matrix" revolutionied action film and will never be forgotten. This is the greatest film of all time. Unlike any movie, there is nothing wrong with
"The Matrix". Whatever you want to be in "The Matrix" is probably in it and if you expected the movie to be something else, you're dumb!

Summary: ONE OF THE MOST SATISFYING MOVIES OF THE 90S.
Review: "The Matrix" is a complex, deep thinking movie, with an actual story, good acting- the best to come from Keanu in his complete movie career, action, adventure, special effects, and beautiful cinematography.

I actually had to see this movie twice to get the complete understanding of the story. "The Matrix" is beyond the usual short edit sequences for small attention spans, it is a 2 1/2 hour movie with a real meaning about how we exist in a world gone wrong. It really makes you think if we are really hooked up to machines living our lives in virtual reality.

Definitely one of my best picks of the year. I really think "The Matrix" should be nominated at the Oscars for best picture, but will be ignored due to its Science Fiction nature. Ashame.

A Definite buy!

Summary: The Matrix's Harddrive Needs To Be Defragmented
Review: "The Matrix" is a movie about the well worn science fiction concept of virtual reality. Morpheus(Laurence Fishburne) plays a leader of a rebellion in search of someone he calls "The One".(This person possesses the knowledge necessary to understand how to crack the programming code for The Matrix) Reality as we know it is depicted as a machine controlled artificial world where all that is experienced is controlled and programmed by living machines that have human beings in pods that are all connected to the central mainframe by a series of interconnected materials.(What ever might be capable of sending information) Life is an illusion that is presented by the Matrix. Morpheus and a group of rebels that have escaped the Matrix, in a ship of some kind, have pinpointed the location of Neo(Keanu Reeves) whom they believe is "The One" with the knowledge. They eject him from The Matrix and bring him aboard their ship. Morpheus begins to train Neo as to how to fight The Matrix. While the concept for "The Matrix" is interesting to an extent there are logical flaws that hurt the thought provoking aspect of the film. One aspect has me completely stumped. In order for virtual reality to really work wouldn't a subject(a person) need to be unaware that they were in a "virtual" world. In "The Matrix" there are members of the group of rebels killed while they are in The Matrix when they voluntarily return to The Matrix. The problem is that they are aware that they are in The Matrix. How can computer controlled bullets and such harm you if you are aware that everything around you is all just artificially created? As purely entertainment "The Matrix" is pretty excellent but to provoke any kind of thought process it doesn't make much sense. For entertainment value there is a pretty great antagonistic cat and mouse battle between Neo and Agent Smith, a virus in The Matrix out to kill Neo and steal the mainframe access code from Morpheus for the last human city outside of the clutches of The Matrix. Agent Smith says his life is empty and that secret information would let him cease to exist.(Its worth the price of admission to watch them battle it out) All in all "The Matrix" needs its harddrive to be defragmented. The various pieces don't fit that well together and should have at least been coherent enough to fit together. The ending is very disappointing. Watch out for the "I love you" so you can now wake from the dead Neo and Trinity moment.(Trinity, an important part of the rebel squad, a take charge woman, falls in love with Neo for no particular reason than it was destined by the Oracle, and pulls off a reverse "Snow White") What the heck was that?(I thought when I saw it)Ask yourself, what is "The Matrix"? Love it, like it as I did, or hate it, but realize it doesn't make much sense.

Summary: Time to take the Red Pill
Review: "The Matrix" is a reality-twisting story of a programmer (Keanu Reeves) who finds that the world he lives in isn't real at all. An interesting story is made all the better by some truly inventive action sequences and the great special effects (most notably the chopper crash and "bullet-time" effects). This is one for the library. Check it out.
