Summary: Wow! It's like a two hour rollercoaster ride!
Review: The Matrix was an awesome cinema experience - if you didn't see it on the big screen you really missed something! This film is awesome because it scores on two fronts.

Firstly it's an incredible story, a dark thought-provoking futuristic sci-fi thriller - the main premise of the movie will blow you away the first time you see it.

Secondly, The Matrix looks and sounds incredible. It's beautifully shot, the action sequences are some of the best I have EVER seen on film. The main players all trained with martial arts experts full time for 4 or 5 months prior to shooting - and it shows.

Add in a hard pumping soundtrack, and The Matrix is like a heart stopping ride for both your eyes and your mind.

Summary: Cool!
Review: The Matrix was an awesome movie, but if you liked the movie you'll love the DVD! The graphics were so much better and the options were cool too!

Summary: techno-savvy movie with a great cast-save one.
Review: The matrix was an extremely entertaining film. The key was this for me: In todays motion picture industry, it seems that George Lucas's ILM can make anything appear before our eyes, but in the Matrix-the effects actually seem original and groundbreaking. The plot was not as good as Reeves's "The Devil Advocate" but was certainly above average for a film of this genre. I give it four stars, with a recommendation to anyone except those rediculous nitpicky reviewers that compare everything to the best movies in history.

Summary: DIGITAL MASTERPIECE!
Review: The Matrix was AWESOME! This movie is spellbinding! The Matrix asks the question: "what is real?" Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves...DUH!) is an average guy, who is also a computer hacker who goes by the alias NEO. Neo wants to know what the Matrix is. Well, he soon finds out, and also finds out that he is prophecized to save the world! After the frightening truth is revealed, Neo trains for his mission: Destroy the Matrix. This action and violence packed movie will keep you guessing until the end! The whole SHABANG is great: the actors, the plot, the action, but mostly the special effects! The plot is delivered to you in such a conceiveable manner, that you will find yourself feeling the back of your head! (watch the movie and you will understand) This is a MUST SEE! Do not miss this face-paced digital masterpiece! Remember, THERE IS NO SPOON! Also, be sure to pick up the Soundtrack too. GREAT SONGS!

Summary: Real? What is real then?
Review: The Matrix was brilliant, superb special effects, excellent storyline which has the ability to play on your mind for ages afterwards. Wouldn't it be weird if life were actually like that and none of us knew, all going about our daily business with not a clue.

When Keanu Reeves does find out the truth however, it was interesting to see how it made him violently sick, mind you, so would you be if you had been fed lie after lie all your life and then found out what the truth really was - rather like changing eating habits after a lifetime of rubbish, he must have wondered what had hit him, especially as it was more bizarre than he had ever imagined.

I have no idea when The Matrix II is coming out, all I do know is, when it does appear I will be purchasing it. Great film!

Summary: Totally shocking... Just amazing.
Review: The Matrix was excellent. Everything about it was so sci-fi, and it all fit the main theme perfectly. Just when you thought the movie was getting boring, (which may have been once) suddenly everything went on edge. The effects in the movie were some of the best i've seen, and just the concept alone was mind-boggling. If you watch this movie, and you hate it, you have absolutely no taste for a good sci-fi movie! I would give this movie a 6th star, except they don't allow it... =)

Summary: The Matrix is whatever you want it to be
Review: The Matrix was hailed as the best action thriller of the year, and I have to say I have never seen fight scenes like them, the only film that comes anywhere close is the excellent Blade. A brilliant script, fantastic performances from the cast, and a good directing job have combined to make this film highly watchable to anybody. However the categorisation of sci-fi action thriller is often met with cries of 'Oh no I won't like that' or 'It's really not what I like to watch', but trust in me even if this is not the kind of film you would normally watch it is well worth a look in, and that much it certainly deserves. Keanu Reeves is on top form as Neo, the main character, expelling rumours of his sawdust like brain, wooden acting talent, and general stupidity. This is him at his best and he is as good as any big name I've seen recently. Laurence Fishburne plays the arcane and sinister Morpheus to a tee, his riddles will drive you insane after a while, but that is part of the film, and watching how the riddles solve themselves is highly enthralling. Carrie-Ann Moss is good in her supporting role as Trinity, but in my opinion it's Hugo Weaver as Smith, the patronising agent who steals the show, he is the character you love to hate, but you can't help but like his character, he's so devious. The Matrix is a brilliant film, it's plot however is highly complicated, and it helps to have someone to explain it to you, or at least watch it twice. You may be tempted to give up due to the complexity of it all but be patient and trust me this film is more than worth perservering with, and even if you don't like it, just give it a try. Enjoy viewing.

Summary: The Matrix is NOT ORIGINAL
Review: The Matrix was ok, a light weight action flick. Matix fans who rave about the explosions and special effects get no argument from me. But when I keep reading in review after review how "original" The Matrix is, I have got to say ridiculous! Let's take the plot point by point. 1. Reality can be an illusion; This is the most overused story in sci-fi TV and movies, done at least 50 times on the Star Trek series and in Virtuosity, Strange Days, Lawnmower Man, Total Recall, 12 Monkeys, etc. 2. We are being controlled by an unknown power; Dark City, The Truman Show, going back to the Manchurian Candidate and the paranoid sci-fi of the 50's like Invasion of the Body Snatchers. 3. Machines take over the world; Terminator 1 & 2. 4. We are in a computer network; Tron (also see #1) 5. Millions of people wired in pods; See Star Trek, First Contact and all of the TV Star Trek Borg Shows. 6. A Messiah will save us; See Terminator 1 & 2, Dune and all the Star Wars films. 7. People can fly and have super powers! Super hero films; Superman 1 & 2, Batman and TV's Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman. 8. People can go to imaginary places and do martial arts! Over 50 Star Trek TV shows use the "holodeck" to create exotic martial arts fight scenes.

How about the "look" of the film. Let's start with Blade Runner or Blade which also have dark sets, trench coats and exotic clubs. How about the nonstop shooting, check out Terminator 2, Blade or Total Recall. You want people who leap and spin while they shoot; check out Desperado or El Mariachi. Some scenes in The Matrix are almost lifted from other movies. Compare the beginning of The Matrix and Scanners, they are very similar. The set where Reeves touches the mirror is a replica of the old apartment in Blade Runner. It's all been done before.

Now there is one thing that is a bit new in The Matrix. It is the idea that human beings can be used to create electricity. The machines in the film do not need this because they have fusion power (the same power as the sun.) Also, people are a lousy source of power. It is a bad idea and turns most of the reason for The Matrix world into a joke.

So what, this is a comic book story. You love this movie, fine but remember. The Matrix is NOT ORIGINAL!

Summary: Great Movie with Great Effects!
Review: The Matrix was one of the best movies I have ever seen. It makes you open up your mind and think about reality and what lies beyond. It makes you wonder if the world is really what you see it as, or maybe like the movie suggests this world is a cover-up for something else. The special effects of the movie were beyond amazing. The way they would freeze the picture, then turn the view was incredible. It made it seem like it really was in some other time and some other world ans it helped support the fact that they had no rules in their reality. The way the characters moved, the technology they used, everything in the movie made it more believable. I recommend seeing this movie if you have an open mind. If you're more close-minded, you may have some troubles accepting the movie and it won't seem as good as it really is.
