Rating: Summary: Best Sci Movie I've Seen in Years Review: Saw it three times in the theatre - something I've never done before
Rating: Summary: After 4 visits to the theatre I required the DVD... Review: Saw the movie 4 times in the theatre, seeing new things all the time. Bought the DVD and that made me decide to buy a widescreen TV as well. This movie is probably the most entertaining movie I've seen sofar, and I've seen a gazilion. TIP: Also buy eXistenZ, same theme more cult, same fun.
Rating: Summary: What's Not To Like Review: Saw this movie again last night and still get blown away with the FX. Recommend viewing the movie via commentary to get some insight into certain scenes such as the opening scene where Trinity jumps from one building to another, doing a spiral move in the process. There was a CGI enhancement to that move that you don't realize unless you listen to the commentary and then go back and review it frame-by-frame to see exactly what they are references. I'm ready for Matrix II.

I had my jaw dropping by the end
it's such a powerful movie
not only does the cast work
but they add depth to every character
Hugo Weaving is a brilliant bad guy
Keanu Reeves is brilliant in his role
and so on and so forth
I loved the action
the slight romance starting to fall in place
the whole synopsis
the red pill and blue pill scene
the effects
just everything about it
I love this that I have on dvd
It's so great that I could watch it again and again and again and go
"that was amazing" every time. I've watched it 8 times on dvd already.
Rating: Summary: Like this needs another review... Review: Say what you will about Keanu Reeves, but he's certainly getting better at picking vehicles for his "acting" talents. Also to his credit is the fact that only once was I reminded of his character from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Trust me, that's an improvement. This is Reeves at his best - standing there and looking pretty while the action happens around him. There are a few themes that films can use that (in my mind, at least) almost always work well. The Matrix manages to touch on two of them: the fight for freedom and overcoming fear. Wrap that around a slick sci-fi core with some eye-popping effects and you've got something that can keep me in my seat and smiling for a couple of hours. Simply put, the movie just oozes cool. And that's a good thing. Hey, it worked great for The Fifth Element. Overall, The Matrix is at its best delivering the stereotyped Hong Kong style action, but its the surrounding script and Reeves's supporting cast that make this a memorable flick. Laurence Fishburne gives a great, no-nonsense performance as Morpheus, the leader/father of a group of futuristic freedom fighters. My vote for the best performance in this one, though, has to go to the small role of the Oracle, brought to life by Gloria Foster. It's a small but pivotal role that could have easily turned into the loose thread that pulled this movie apart. Foster's performance makes sure this one stays tied together. Hers is the hingepin scene in this movie, and the writing held everything together (remember, "there is no spoon").
Rating: Summary: Awesome edge-of-your-seat thriller. A must see!!! Review: ScFi breakthrough with a plot that won't let you get up from your seat and go to the bathroom. A must see for any visual arts enthusiastics. Revealing too much of this movie, or just trying to reveil the whole concept would be an injustice to the writers.
Rating: Summary: had to see this flick more than once Review: sci-fi at it's best, waiting for the sequel. movie goes to show we can not be limited we think and the way we live. Go Mr. Reeves we are all waiting.......
Rating: Summary: Excellent!! A must see film! Review: Sci-fi at it's best. I have seen it over and over and plan to watch it many more times once I get the video. Everytime you watch you catch something new.
Rating: Summary: Great, fellow sci-fi fans --- but DO pay attention! Review: Sci-fi fans will appreciate (and likely recognize) the basic plot and subplots of this film. It's clearly destined to become a sci-fi (cult?) classic. 'Compelling story and great effects. But don't look away for a moment! Even when you stay glued to the screen, you're likely to suffer lingering questions. Quite a few threads remain unravelled. As much as I enjoyed Matrix, I believe they've left lots of room for a sequel which could lead us to richer fields of thought than the first "episode" did! Gutsy production -- go for it.
Rating: Summary: WOW, WOW and more WOW! Review: Sci-fi movies have become a boring and mindless parade of special effects with no plot. This is DEFINATELY NOT the case with The Matrix. This movie provides both eye-popping effects with a highly involving plotline full of twists and tricks. Mr. Reeves is of course both rugged and engaging. However it is the full cast of supporting characters that round out this totally satisfying futurerama thrill ride. The characters of Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) are the most absorbing. Watch it on the biggest screen you can find! VERY good stuff!
