Summary: Worth it!
Review: I'm not going to say its like watching a whole new movie but its definitely worth seeing if you're a fan of the Alien(s) films at all. I remember seeing broadcasts of Aliens years ago with at least some of the extra footage and being amazed. I didn't see it again until I got the tape. And there are extras I didn't see at all. They're signifcant and make for great viewing. Aliens Special Edition is definitely a cut above Aliens which, I personally consider, the best of the series.

Review: After Sigourney Weaver expressed her dis-pleasure that the sub-text of Ripley's losing her daughter was cut, it is back...along with several essential scenes. I'm not one who needs to see deleted scenes tacked onto the end. I wanna see them where they were intended to be....! This DVD gives you just that, and improves a movie I have to put in my top 5...Sigourney was ROBBED of an Academy Award! That's what happens with an "action" flick! Let's see Kate Hepburn or Streisand duplicate this role....! Oh well...Someday soon...!

Summary: "You can kiss all that good-bye"
Review: James Cameron's mega sequel to 1979's ALIEN accomplishes something that very few sequels ever do. The movie takes the story of the original film and makes the follow-up seem like a natural progression of things. I am not a fan of the 3rd and 4th installments in the series. They seemed contrived and filled with things that didn't make sense. As ALIENS opens, Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) is asked to consult on a rescue mission, to the same planet where the monster was first discovered. Reluctantly, she agrees, and is escorted by an elite group of special ops millitary soldiers to complete her task. The scares are quite intense and the F/X have been improved upon The supporting cast is filled with fine actors, Michael Beihn, Bill Paxton, Lance Henriksen, and Paul Reiser. The movie's final 30 minutes is truly a pulse-pounder and Weaver says one of the most memorable lines in all of cinema. I wont repeat it in mixed company, but the line is often repeated as a pop culture reference in other films and on t.v. The special edition DVD includes more than 17 minutes of added footage that was first seen on network television. There is an on camera interview with Cameron that was made at the time of the film's theatrical release. The package also has a behind the scenes booklet with some info in it and photos Although not as feature packed, as the 1st film is on DVD, there's enough here to warrant purchase. The film still holds up as one of the best sequels of all time

Review: ALIENS is the blockbuster sequel to the groundbreaking film ALIEN. This time, King of the world James Cameron (TITANIC) takes the directing reigns previously held by Ridley Scott (Gladiator). And Cameron has created a long, sturdy follow-up. The "living ship" element of the prequel is replaced by the industrial environments Cameron uses in both Terminators and "The Abyss". But, how can you top on lone individual trapped with an impervious super beast? How about by having hundreds of them! That is basically the concept here. Ripley (Sigourney Weaver in her academy award nominated portrayal) reluctantly returns to the planet where she first encountered a derelict ship and the alien that destroyed her crew. This time she is going on strictly as an observer amongst a band of tough marines. But, even with all their bravado, she doubts their chances against the alien race. This film also has a maternal flavor to it. We find out that Ripley has a child that has since passed on and so she 'adopts' a lone gamin from the alien infested command center. Her final battle is against the mother alien in a way that even Jerry Springer couldn't control. This film had very little chance of surpassing the original on ALIEN turf, so it redefined it. It definitely surpasses ALIEN as an action film with relentless excitement and twists. The alien race is even less human as they seem to have stopped their bi-pedal locomotion from the first film in favor of a 'crawl quickly along floor, wall or ceiling'. The DVD can truly test your sub-woofer and the video transfer is fine and it includes 17 minutes of extra footage. This was followed by 2 more sequels but, This and ALIEN on its own make for a great rainy day double feature.

Review: this is the best alien movie in the series.... just somewhere is james camerones mind he thought of this one i mean God what a great film. the action is really good and there is a good story along with it, hart pouding action and some good actors and actresses make it the best alien movie there!

Review: Aliens takes place 57 years after the original Alien. Ripley is in her escape ship sleeping when a deep space salvage crew finds her. They send her to a small space station where she is revived and has continuous nightmares about aliens. After having her flight license revoked at a meeting about the aliens with Weyland Yutani,(they obviously didn't believe her) she agrees to go with a group of marines to rescue colonists after they stop responding to messages on the planet LV- 426, which is the same planet she was on with the rest of her crew in Alien. Things have changed; people are living there and terraforming the planet to make it breathable. Anyway, once Ripley and the marines get there, they discover the aftermath of a blody fight between the aliens and the colonists. But soon enough, the aliens start coming and a small battle pursues. After the battle, only Ripley, an android named Bishop, Newt, (a little girl Ripley found) and a few marines are left. Now, Ripely must lead them against the aliens and get the heck off the planet. Skillfully directed by James Cameron, this movie never lets up. The last hour of this movie is all hard-hitting action. There are many highlights in this film, including when Ripley arms herself to the teeth to go rescue Newt. After watching this movie, you'll ask yourself, "Where else can I see marines ahooting away at aliens while spewing out more expletives than Ving Rhames in "Pulp Fiction?" Also, the ending is great and the aliens (especially the queen) look great. The only aliens that look better in all four films are the ones in Alien Resurrection. There are some falws though. Most notably, it takes about 90 minutes for the action to start up. Sure, it's pretty boring for the first half of the movie, but it pays off in the end. Another flaw is the unoriginal ending. The ending is just basically a beefed-up version of the original's ending. (But it is still pretty cool.) The last set of flaws are just some errors. In the oringinal, LV-426 was brown with rings around it. In this movie, it doesn't have rings around it and it's blue. Maybe because of the terraforming... Also, colonists have been on that planet for 57 YEARS and they hadn't found the alien ship? C'mon. Aside from that, this movie is definetly worth watching. Not better than the first, but better than the rest of the quadrilogy. Highly recommended. A sci-fi/action fan's dream.

Review: I'd only feel insignificant trying to add my comments to the number of good reviews here. I went to see this movie when it came out, and it scared me to death. The effects still look good apart from the shuttle craft flying, which they could easily clean up for the 20th anniversary edition...

Summary: The best science fiction thriller of all time
Review: The first Alien movie was great as we all know, but its sequel was even better and remains one of the finest sci-fi films ever made and one of the few cases where the sequel tops the original (another is Terminator 2, which was also helmed by Aliens director James Cameron). Where as the first film used its claustrophobic quarters and eerie atmosphere to make it shine, Aliens trades that in for gun toting shoot em up action that surprisingly works and in my opinion would not have worked without James Cameron as director. Sigourney Weaver was even nominated for an Academy Award for this, that alone tells you how good she is, as for the supporting cast, including Michael Biehn, Bill Paxton, Paul Reiser, and Lance Henriksen all give knockout performances as well. The special effects and creature effects are still decent by todays standards, and the 17 minutes of deleted footage only add more to the film's greatness. Sadly though, the two following sequels couldn't hold a candle to the original or this classic, but if you haven't seen Aliens, I strongly suggest picking this up.

Summary: Living in a Xenoparadise
Review: Quite simply, this has to be one the best "Sci-Fi" movies ever made. Cruising with Ridley Scott as he explores the darker side of terra-forming and seeing, for the "first" time, what this actually encompasses has some great, character-driving qualities which other cuts lacked. Personally, seeing Newt's family before as they introduce our Xeno-hero to those "juicy colonist daughters" definitely gives her more oomph. Combining this with newly revised scenes recounting the tales of Ripley's daughter, some nice pictures of the equipment used on that wonderful wasteland of a planet, and the almighty autoguns gives the viewer something that lacked with other released versions. It gives them a clearer window to see everyone's favorite extraterrestrial (with explanations given on Alien ecology that were left out of the Alien that explain the breeding cycle and the roles of the drone) as they fight the good fight against that consuming human blight.
