Rating: Summary: Makes Gone with the Wind look like a piece of Crap Review: Oh man, the first one was so bad but then with the second one they had the genius idea of having the entire movie in one room the entire time, man this movie wasn't low budget at all! The creators definetly rose from the ashes of Starship Troopers 1, genius.F
Rating: Summary: Worse than the original Starship Trooper flick Review: Yuk. Over-the-top gore, gratuitous nudity, Verhoeven-flavored Leftist politics, typical Hollywierd corruption. Kind of "Aliens" meets "The Puppet Masters" (and I mean the movie, not Heinlein's book).
Forget this one. A tedious, pointless mess.
Rating: Summary: more horror than sci fi Review: This movie wasn't bad at all. I was actually surprised at how well it stood up to the first one. The special effects were good and the Starship Troopers story was moved along nicely. It was also more horror than sci fi as opposed to just fighting with a little bit of sci fi thrown in. Considering that this movie went straight to video which should automatically lower expectations, I'd say that it turned out well.
Rating: Summary: BETTER THAN EXPECTED and UNFAIRLY CRUCIFIED Review: *Starship Troopers 2*
This movie is much better than the reviewers are giving it credit for. In fact, after watching it, I can't figure out why all the negative reviews! Heck, the first S.T. has bad acting in it, but it's still awesome and sure Part 2 is a low-lighted movie(done very well, I might add) but who's to set the standard for lighting in a futuristic "bugs taking over the universe" movie? Some complained that it's too gory...I question if they've even seen the first one. Think about it...gore?...that is Starship Troopers biggest legacy!
Part 2 just has a different setting and I think that's what fans are troubled by the most. It's more like a Chronicle instead of a complete "Part 2". However, there's a great story here with a spooky twist and it's a story very much worth telling. It's a darker movie because it's a darker story. Not a bad horror flick, I might add. It made me jump several times. I would have liked to have seen more spaceships and more bug action but I just watched the first one again and got the fix I needed. Part 2 has a different feel to it and, in the right frame of mind, it can easily be enjoyed.
The special effects are fantastic and the acting is better then others are giving it credit for.
My only complaint is there are parts that the picture quality seemed grainy. It may have have been deliberate, but it felt like a low-budget movie at times. I realize it was, but it didn't always feel like that because it was so well produced. I really hope this comes to Superbit, but I won't hold my breath.
IN FINAL: It's a very good sci-fi, much better than given credit for, with great special effects and a very good story to carry the movie at a smooth and interesting pace. Perhaps Part 3 will be more of what the ney-sayers are looking for?
Rating: Summary: Ouch, this is not good! Review: Per Natural Born Killers, this movie is: BAD, BAD, BAD, BAD, BAD, BAD!!! Bad acting for the most part, due to a bad script, and a bad plot, and bad, bad actors. Only thing worth a star was the special effects - as good or better than the first, but the movie is to bad to sit through just for that. :(
Rating: Summary: Um......was that a sequel?.....Um........ Review: Worst. Movie. Ever. That wasn't even a movie. If it was a movie, it sure as hell wasn't a sequel to Starship Troopers. Where were the bugs, and the guns, and the intergalactic space armies? What happened to the hardcoreness of Johnny Rico? And remember how there were bugs that flew? WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THAT MOVIE?!?!?! 'Cause it sure wasn't in this piece of garbage I'll tell you that. Starship Troopers 2 was not Starship Troopers 2. It was not a sequel. It was some abnormally stupid pile of filth that seems to have resulted from throwing Aliens, The Faculty, and Species together in a blender and pressing puree without ever checking to make sure the ingredients you threw in the blender would in fact make what you wanted. BLEEECCCHHHH!!!
It has been said countless times before about movies. "Glitter was the worst movie ever." "Swept Away was the worst movie ever." Those people are wrong. Starship Troopers 2 is the worst movie ever. Fans of sci-fi, horror, even softcore porn should be appalled at this tripe and the studio that expects us to stomach garbage like this. The heroism of Johnny Rico deserves more than this, you banana boning gremlin droppings. Maybe before you make a sequel you should watch the movie you're following up so you know what actually happened.
Rating: Summary: STARSHIP POOPERS TOO!!! Review: Brain bug here. I just thought I would stop by, write a review, and eat a few of you humans before you torture yourselves with this sequel. Director Phil Tippit thinks he can mix a little blood, gore, nudity, and bugs into three or four half-cocked sets, and churn out a passable video that keeps the audience's eyes propped open without the use of their common sense. Yes, there is a plot; although, it is more like a TV serial that was written just below the level of 'Lost in Space' and slightly more serious than a Jim Neighbors' dialogue. Richard Burgi is excellent of course, bringing with him the solid "Sentinel" power of his TV character cast as the anti-hero , where Colleen Porch plays the most descent and interesting of the cast and ends up the survivor. Ed Lauter whom I've seen in many peripheral movie roles, plays the rock-hard, stone-cold general (somewhat better than the general character in the first movie but not as interesting).
Yet, they're lost when forced together in a fast moving sequel bent on self-destruction from its senseless beginning in the fakest dust storm since Star Trek. To be fair, there are some good scenes with some hint of thought to them, such as the glimpses of the Federation weaponry (a catapult bombing mechanism and an electical field zapper!). Sick, cheesy special effects, however, causes the stink-o-meter to top out around the middle of the movie. In order to preserve attention and divert the audience from a script written on a used toilet paper roll, Tippet cleverly cons one of the fine looking actresses into showing great shots of her firm, gorgeous naked body as a gratuity meant to reward viewers for simply hanging in there.
And just when I thought I was finished blasting this revolting pile of bug dung, the movie went on a nudity, blood, gore rampage, totally departing from any possibility of meaningful movie leaving viewers to watch as Mobile Infantry die off in rediculous scenes of helplessness as if they were just college kids in a slasher film. By this time, all sense of an entertaining story have eluded both the viewer and director.
As a brain bug, I have no choice but to put you out of your misery by eating you now. If you must watch this movie, then I will wait until you torture yourself because, well let's face it-you're the kind that pulls the wings off little flies.
Rating: Summary: A really bad film that is too gory to watch Review: I made the mistake of buying this film without having watched it and,as one other poster did,I turned it off half way through.
This is truly a Z-Grade gory shock-fest of a film with heads getting ripped open to reveal bugs, people being made to eat them, others being set on fire.
The film-maker succeeds with his special effects, but only to make the film unwatchable. Save your money.
