Summary: Good job
Review: A nice sequel to the first, but darker and more intimate. They didn't have the special effects budget of the original, so they relied more on scripting and atmosphere. The entire cast was good, with Richard Burgi as the Hero in the subtitle doing a bang-up job.

The music was excellent and the atmosphere was spot on. Without giving away too much of the plot, the bugs have adapted again (something insect life seems to do well), and have developed a new tactic. Nice twist in the plot. Fits in well with the Troopers universe.

Summary: Almost as great as "Police Academy VII" or "Batman & Robin".
Review: I did not think it would be possible, but this abomination was even worse than Verhacken's flick. Once again, Heinlein was completely ignored, and, even though (thankfully) Verhoeven's moronic shades of Nazism are gone, the film is still extremely poor due to its absolute lack of a plot, cardboard characters, and the fact that it is literally built of cliches and ripoffs. Additionally, it seems to have had a budget which would not be enough to buy a hot-dog and which was apparently spent mostly on acquiring the rights to some random Warrior footage from the first flick. As for the "new special effects", they must have been created after the whole budget had been spent. I think I saw the "head bugs" in a gadget shop once - in fact, if the screener I saw were of any higher quality, I would probably see "Made in China" stamped on them somewhere...

The "plot", if one can even speak of any, is more or less what you saw in roughly 109434 bad and average sci-fi flicks since "Aliens": a group of Generic Tough Space Soldiers (TM) find themselves surrounded by Evil Aliens/Mutants/Zombies/Vampires (TM), and need to seek refuge in a Movie Warehouse... err... in a Conveniently Located Abandoned Facility (TM), where, to their Surprise (TM), they encounter More Frightening Trouble (TM) as well as one factory-produced Rough, Tough, Gruff Male Character Who Is Seemingly A Villain But Who Eventually Saves The Day And Thusly Proves To Be A Hero With A Heart Of Gold (TM). (The latter was supposed to be sergeant Zim, played by Clancy Brown; for "some reasons", this did not come to be, and instead we got a disposable Richard Burgi as a disposable "Captain Dax").

The quality of acting was better in this title, however - mostly because the first one was dominated by the vomit-inducing anti-acting courtesy of two awful plastic non-actors - Richards and Busey. Even Clancy Brown and Michael Ironside couldn't save the film when they were constantly showered with splinters falling off the Wooden Two.

It reminded me of the "Critters 3" casus - a horrendously bad sequel to an SF flick which was bad enough in the first place. Compared to "Starship Troopers II", "Battlefield Earth" looks like a sedate, monumental space epic.

This title is almost on par with such classics as "Police Academy VII", "Gigli", "The Avengers", "Batman & Robin" or "Charlie's Angels". Now, if only "Starship Troopers: Terran Ascendancy" was made into a film instead of the two that *were* made...

Summary: Disappointing
Review: Bottom line...No cool new bugs, just tiny ones that live in humans. No tankers, plasma, hoppers, brain, or carrier bugs. Mainly warriors and the new dinky bugs that live in humans. CGI wasn't very good. They try to hide it buy keeping the movie dark.

Summary: VERY DISAPOINTED SST FAN : (
Review: I was very excited to hear that a sequal to Starship Troopers was coming out. Iloved the first one and although the sequal was going straight to video and had no returning actors from the first i had hope for the film do to the fact that the director worked on the first film and was the man incharge of the bugs in the film, so i had faith that the bugs would look good and he would pull this film off... sadly i was wrong. The oppening Fed Net real was horrible it looked like it was done on microsoft paint and it use recycled footage from the first film. However i clenched my teath and sat through that part. The oppening fight was cool untill the troopers fired their guns. They were laser guns which strobed blue and when they did so you could clearly see the blue flash light inside the muzzle. The awsome machine guns from the first film were gone. However i let this slide as well and relatively enjoyed the begginig battle scene. THe bugs looked suprisingly good. But the troopers retreat to an abandoned bunker where the starship troopers part of the film goes on vacation and we watch a remake of John Carpenters the Thing. This whole part was full of horrible to ok acting and it was just BORING! I watched this movie to see troopers fighting hordes of arachnids and tankers and hoppers but i got troopers fighting troopers because a bug took over their minds and attempted ot take out the squad from within. Its an ok idea but it takes up 90% of the movie! So the begginig is ok, the visual effects hide the bugs in darkness and sand storms so dont expect the grand fights from the first film, and the end is ok but the bulk of the movie is bad. I was very sad when this film ended. Here are some pros and cons:

Pros:
- Arachnids look surprisingly good.
- Some of the actors are good.
- Some parts of the film are cool.

Cons:
- The music was horrible, none of the great music from the first film.

- The only bugs are the arachnids who have an on screen time of like 10 minutes. ALong with these gay little bugs that take over your mind.

-The Story is horrible.

-The acting was mostly bad, however i like the pony tail girl the captain dax they were cool but everyone else was mostly bad. The script was tacky and boring with many lines obviously stolen from the first film.

IF YOU LIKED THE FIRST MOVIE STAY AWAY FROM THIS FILM IT IS BAD AND NOT WORTHY OF THE NAME STARSHIP TROOPERS 2, THIS FILM HAD POTTENTIAL BUT IT FELL FLAT ON ITS FACE. THIS MOVIE IS HORRIBLE IT DOES NOT DO THE FIRST FILM JUSTICE. DONT SEE THIS MOVIE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

I GAVE THIS FILM ONE STAR BECAUSE THE BEGGINING AND END WERE COOL AND ITS A STARSHIP TROOPERS MOVIE THAT IS ALL.THE FIRST MOVIE I GIVE 5 STARS, ITS A GREAT MOVIE!!!!

Summary: its fairly good
Review: Dont expect anything close to the original scale wise and you might like it.part 2 has a different tone from part 1 and does its best with its low budget. There are a good bit of big bug fights and the flick does well at the start, slows a bit in the middle, and ends in an original way.The action is good and the effects are done well. as far as direct to video sequels go,its good.

Summary: If only there could be no star
Review: I was shocked to see this on cable last night, and I have to say it was awful. The plot was as boring as bodysnatchers. Except for the bugs, which were nothing but the same rendered spiders from the first movie, it had almost nothing to do with starship troopers. No personality to any of the characters. It seemed that they were nothing but boot grads that were out on their first mission of death. The plot was so simple that you could see the whole movie roll out in front of you. The visual effects were horrible. Rendered bugs, sandstorms, and night, are all you can see. I'm gald I didn't buy or rent this movie.

Summary: Great!
Review: The movie is better than I expected. It's dark, it's interesting and it has new visuals as good as in the first one. There are new bugs and acting is better than in ST1.

Summary: Very good!
Review: The film is very interesting, more horror than action adventure. The effects look great, much better than in 8 Legged Freaks. The good 'ol warriors are back and there are also these new creepy bugs.

The main hero is played by the guy who was in The Sentinel. I think I saw him in a couple of other movies, but here he really shines. See, he plays this anti-hero, John Wayne kind of guy. Very good. The other actors are ok (especially this psychic and the pony-tail girl), but I think there are too many heroes in that movie anyway, if you know what I mean.

The strong point is music. I think it's not the music from the first movie, but great anyway. There are a few very catchy tunes...

But the absolutely best thing about this movie is its 'grand finale'. The visuals are fantastic. Indeed very cool. I like the look of Warriors in their "angry mode" :-P. They look and sound absolutely terrific.

All to all I think SST2 is a clever extent of the first film. I don't get it why this movie went straight to dvd. It's a lot better than most of theatrical releases.

Summary: garbage
Review: it looks like tripe no money a they breought an actor that died in the last movie back as a different person with no relation what the heck is wit that

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: not upto my expectations
Review: looks like it was filmed in the directors basement. they must have been poor or not have enough for budget that they used scenes from the first movie.
