Summary: Alien, Starman, Star Wars, 2001 Wannabe
Review: This movie is a blatant ripoff of all the Alien movies with a touch of Starman (the pregnancy at the end of the movie)and Star Wars re: the cheap, too human version of C3PO and 2001 with a cheap imitation HAL!! Question: Is Angela Basset pregnant when she goes into the tube with Spader where they exchange DNA, or does she get pregnant on the way back? And if she exchanged DNA With Spader, does that mean that she got her own self pregnant? Just asking! What an awful movie!! Love James Spader (he was terrific in Dream Lover and White Palace) but what was he th inking when he decided to do this!? Angela Basset is so cranky through the whole thing with a terrible expression on her face and a condescending tone in her voice..Why is this woman so angry. Probably because she did not look at the script before she ageed to do the movie! The on board computer aint no HAL 9000 either and sounds like a playboy bunny with a whispery, fey voice that reminds one of Marilyn Monroe in outer space and with a name like Sweetie, it is no wonder the computer can't figure out how to get this crew out of this fix they are in. It is an ambigious plot at best with lots of special effects that don't add up to much. Inexplicably, there are many loose ends that are never tied up and leaves one wondering what it was all about in the first place. Just awful!!! Don't waste your money on this one. Get out your old video of Alien and enjoy!!!

Summary: Whoaa! A James Spader Movie I Actually Liked!
Review: Wow! I was not expecting this movie to be anything special...boy, was I suprised! I highly recommend this movie on DVD, the sound is incredible and the deleted scenes/alternate ending are worth checking out. Initially, when renting this movie, I remembered seeing James Spader in the trailer when the movie originally opened. I was hesitant to walk out the store with it (based on my opinion of most of his prevous movies), but took the risk...and couldn't be happier with myself for not passing this one up!

Summary: Seen it all before...
Review: Not really very much to say about this movie. It's all been done before in one form or another, crippled ship in distant part of the Galaxy picks up lone survivor who is not what he seems. The acting is ok from all quarters and the visual/audio special effects are above average. However, mid-way through the film its quite apparent there isn't anywhere for it to go and the ending is very predictable on the whole. The dvd offers the usual extras including an alternate ending thats almost identical to the one in the movie. My advice, try before you buy.

Summary: AN INSULT TO OUR INTELLIGENCE
Review: PLEASE use the hour and a half of your day doing ANYTHING else than watching this movie. Most of my DVD's are in the science fiction category and I decided to purchase this one just because I wanted to see it when it was in the movies, but I never had the chance. I went into this movie with the utmost confidence that it would be good. I was looking forward to a Supernova (the title of the movie after all) and I barely got a Nova.

This movie insults your intelligence. Don't get sucked in with the advertisements on the 20 extra minutes of deleted scenes.

DON'T BUY OR EVEN RENT THIS MOVIE. Pretend it was never made!

Summary: THIS MOVIE IS THE FUNNIEST MOVIE EVER
Review: I was one of the only people to pay up my 8.50 on opening night to see this movie and it was well worth it. My buddy and I were laughing thruought the whole thing and thought it was great. The World War 2 fighter pilot robot was hilarious, as was Wilson Cruz, who is the MAN! The special effects sucked. The acting sucked. The story sucked. But somehow, the movie was great. It's pitifullness made it so great. I suggest that EVERYONE SEES THIS MOVIE FOR A GARENTEED GOOD TIME! Gather all your friends and be prepared to have a good ol' time....5 stars.

Summary: For die hard science fiction fans only
Review: Before I insult this film, I must say that the special effects and sound are terrific. Now here's the bad news. SUPERNOVA suffers from lack of good action sequences and an exiting plot, two things that are important in a sci-fi film; so it's not nearly as good as other recent sci-fi movies. How interesting does this plot sound: Some wierd guy starts killing people and throwing people off the ship after having sex with them. That's pretty much all that happens except for a couple sub-plots. But if you can't find anything better to watch, this is your film.

Summary: I LOVED THIS MOVIE!
Review: Ok,I didn't really know what this movie was about when I went to see it, not many commercials out there, but when I saw it I realized it is one of the COOLEST movies I've seen! My Dad would agree with the people who said there was no Super Nova. But there was. I agree that was the not main point of the movie ( they could have had a better title)but there was a star that was going nova in the movie. they just didn't focus on it that's all. I thought that the acting was pretty good, the story was interesting. It was a good movie, and beleive me I'm not some Montana hick, I've seen alot of movies. This one was good, but if your picky about details then you might not like it. I LOVED IT GO SEE IT PEACE OUT PEEPS!

Summary: Who should I kill next? **SPOILER ALERT**
Review: The trailer for this movie had me really excited. Too bad it didn't live up to its promise. First of all this movie goes by really quick. It is only about 1-1/2 hours. To me that is not long enough to set up & complete a really good sci-fi story. Anyway. Supernova starts out really slow. This movie takes place on the a medical vessel (Nightingale). They receive a distress call comes from another dimension or somewhere. So they make a dimension jump in which the captain dies (a horrible nasty death). The remaining crew members include James Spader, Angela Bassett, Lou Diamond Philips & Robin Tunney. At this point you'd think it could still be a good movie. Don't be fooled. They go to the planet and intercept the shuttle leaving the planet from which the distress call originated. They bring him aboard & of course he is some good looking hunk which Robin Tunney can't take her eyes off of.

Spader orders that the shuttle be searched and Philips discovers a strange object which mesmerizes him. They confront the "Troy" with their discovery & he confesses that he is a treasure hunter & this is his booty. Spader orders that it be jetisoned formt he ship as soon as they are far away from the planet. Why wait? I don'y know. Then Spader goes down to the planet to look for fuel. Of course there is none & Troy sends the shuttle out into space leaving Spader trapped on the planet. Oh did I forge to mention the gratuitous sex scene between Troy & Robin Tunney? Who happens to be Philips girlfriend? Well now the killing begins. First Tunney, then Philips, then another crew member. From then on it just gets lame. Basically Spader & Bassett survive & Troy is eventually killed.

This movie was really sad.

I give the movie a one & the DVD a three. The DVD does sport some extras. Like about 30 minutes of extra footage. Which they might as well have left in the movie. Nothing monumental or anything - but it would have added a little more to the story. Also has an alternative ending - which is pretty much the same as the other one.

Don't waste your money buying this DVD. Please rent it.
