Summary: "Lifeforce" is garbage
Review: This is one of the silliest movies I've ever seen in my life. Don't waste your time.

Summary: The second worst move I have ever seen
Review: This movie manages to combine the disgust of a low-budget zombie flick with the overdone of a big-budget hollywood sci fi flick. The product is so completely without redeeming value that it makes one gasp.

Zombie-movie devotes may love it, but the rest of the sci fi community would be better off without it.

Summary: Naked Space Vampires. Need we say more?
Review: High-speed action and a plot that drops you into the middle of it will either baffle you or turn you off (and thus, the movie as well) for the first half-hour. Make it through that and you will see that same plot nicely filled in with some rather tasty twists on the old vampire story with first-rate B-level acting, particularly by Railsback, of <<The Stuntman>> fame, and by Matilda May, who demonstrates quite amply that beauty and the beast need not occupy more than one body.

Anyone who has seen <<Quatermass and the Pit>> should recognise the similarities in plot and theme, but think of <<Lifeforce>> less as a remake and more as <<inspired by>> it: good, trashy fun, pumped up for the kids of the Eighties with action over insight, with enough quirky appeal to make you stay and watch it on the late, late-night movie as you're flipping through the channels ... but not necessaily enough to drive to the video store to go rent it.

Summary: Strange, goofy, unintentionally funny and never boring
Review: A truly crazy flick involving space vampires. 12-16 year old boys will probably love it.

This sci-fi-horror-disaster film combo is packed with special effects and action scenes involving everything from comets and space travel to putrefying zombies and the destruction of London. It also has lots of nudity.

Boring it is not.

The DVD transfer is good with some slight shimmering (for the nit-picky)on some bright scenes. Good for a 1985 release.

Summary: a film like no other!
Review: I like Hooper's movies (especially Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Poltergeist) - but this is definitively his weirdest movie to date! It is a mixture of Aliens, Night of the Living Dead and Outbreak - never again will you see such a combination! That doesn't mean the movie is perfect: Story? Acting? All medicore! But for Henry Mancini's fantastic score and the weirdness alone it's worth a look!

Summary: What A Vampiress!!
Review: I think "Lifeforce" is one of those strange cases where you wonder what kind of movie this is. Of course, it's a sci-fi flick, but it has certain elements of action and horror together in one single package.

The movie centers around three space vampires whose leader is a beautiful young woman who appears naked most of the time during the film. Mathilda May is completely gorgeous, so perfect, you can fall in love with her and wish to be drained by her charming, yet horrendous, powers. What a vampiress!!! Too bad, she will only be remembered for this role.

The vampiress creates chaos as she walks by the streets of London, and she has to run away from her hunters, especially Steve Railsback and Peter Firth. Railsback is terrible as Col. Tom Carlsen; he overacts so much by yelling everytime he can. Firth is quite good as Col. Colin Caine from the British Special Air Service; he's a good counterpart for Carlsen.

Frank Finlay is terrific as Prof. Hans Fallada, the man who knows the mystery behind those alien visitors. And watch for Patrick Stewart as Dr. Armstrong, the manager of a madhouse who falls victim of the vampiress.

Tobe Hooper made an interesting effort in creating such a crazy movie. I have to admit that some of the things shown in the movie are quite cheesy. But apart from Mathilda May, the finale is colossal, supported by Henry Mancini's fantastic musical score. The film is quite good, watchable, even though some parts are annoying, courtesy of Steve Railsback

Summary: An overall pleasing erotic sci-fi/horror movie...
Review: The theatrical release of this movie made me a long time Mathilda May fan. She's a beautiful french actress and this was evidently the third movie of her career, with most others being only European releases. She excellently protrays her space vampire character, with a fair number of nude scenes that leave most male audience members wishing there were more. This dvd release does seem to have a little extra footage of the "dream sequence", but that's about it. Most of the extra footage doesn't appear to be Mathilda May related, unfortunately. But, how's the movie? It's great! It's a splendid combination of horror and science fiction with the erotic Mathilda May overtone. Truly a classic that belongs in any sci-fi buff's video library!

Summary: Great Sci-fi horror tale from Tobe Hooper and Dan'O Bannon!
Review: British and American astronauts led by Carlson ( Steve Railsback)are on a mission to explore Haley's comet and it's mysteries. They discover a spaceship with it that contains thousands of dead alien bat-like creatures and three naked human-like alien beings preserved in special energy crystal coffins, the three beings with one of the dead winged creatures are brought back to Earth to be studied. However, the three alien humanoids are actually alien vampires that begin to wake up and start to drain people's energy turning them into rabid running zombies and soon the Earth is in danger, only a modern Van Helsing-like professor named " Dr. Fallada" ( Frank Finlay), " Caine" ( Peter Firth) and surviving astronaut Carlson must stop these deadly creatures or else the world is doomed by the vampires from space.

Terrific yet highly underrated erotic Sci-fi/horror shocker that is wonderfully directed by the director of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1 & 2 and Poltergeist Tobe Hooper and written by Dan O'Bannon the writer of "Heavy Metal", " Total Recall", "Alien", " Dead & Buried", " Blue Thunder" and " Return of the Living Dead" and adaptated from a story by the creator of Max Headroom Collin Wilson. It's a creative and unique movie that is a futuristic spin of the myth of vampires on where vampires got their origins from alien creatures, the special effects are just incredible for it's time even these days of Computer animation, Matilda May is absolutely gorgeous as the naked vampiress babe from another galaxy, Patrick Stewart ( pre-Captain Picard) does an apperence as a scientist whom is possessed by the space girl, and contains both vampires and zombies alike.

The DVD is crystal clear on picture & Sound while the only extra is an uncut trailer, i strongly recommend this movie to fans of horror & Science Fiction and for those who need a different kind of vampire, zombie and alien flick, it's one of the most underrated Science fiction and horror movies ever.

Also recommended: " Day of the Dead", "Re-Animator", " The Omega Man", "Aliens", " Dawn of the Dead ( 2004 remake)", " 28 Days Later...", " The Return of the Living Dead", " The Hidden", " Bram Stoker's Dracula", "Vampire Hunter D", " Hell of the Living Dead ( a.k.a. Summary: Campy, fun horror flick stars Steve Railsback
Review: Big-breasted, lifeforce sucking alien vampires hitch ride to Earth on Railsback's spaceship. Its all good fun!! Very campy. The first part of the movie is excellent but the plot starts to get a little hairy once the aliens are on earth and prevents me from giving this 5 stars. If the latter half of the movie had been just a little more cohesive, this would have been a 5 star movie.
