Rating: Summary: Bad, Really bad! Review: This is probably the worst horror film I have ever seen. The special effects were lame, the actors were poor, Stephen King must be really embarresed because the book is no way near as bad as this. At some points I thought it was a spoof because the things that were going on were just silly. The film failed to scare me once, whereas other movies based on Stephen King's work (e.g. The Shining) have been excellent. If you want to see a 'not too incredibly scary' film based on a Stephen King novel then watch The Shining.
Rating: Summary: Okay, so the special effects weren't very special... Review: I thought the actors did a great job, and I was only mildly distracted by the special effects. I have watched this movie several times and I always enjoy it. I liked Laurel's character, I thought Wettig (sp?) did a very good job with her. The little girl was also a good actress. Bronson Pinchot was great. Stockwell was very convincing, except for the "dear boys"--I have to admit that bothered me. Funny, but I am finding that I enjoy S.King's TV miniseries movies more than I do the big screen ones!
Rating: Summary: GREATEST MOVIE OUT THERE Review: #1 movie no matter what people sa
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: This movie was so COOL! I remember seeing it when it first came out on T.V., I was about 9 years old. Unfortunately our cable went out and came on with terrible reception. It was recently on T.V. again and I finally got to thoroughly enjoy it. I love this movie, It has the best story line and I have always enjoyed Stephen King!
Rating: Summary: Unexpectedly enthralling...This is worth several viewings. Review: Having seen this movie I must read the story to see if the little blind girl's psychic connection with Mr. Toomey is ever explained. While some may sneer at the special effects, I thought they were very effective (dare I say "cute") and they somehow fit in with the unreality of the mood.
Rating: Summary: This was a good movie, but it needed much improvement. Review: The Langoliers was, in my opinion, a well thought-out movie with a really good plot. The only problems were that the dialogues in some places were dumb. At times, I felt embarassed for the actors. They are good actors but they weren't given very good lines. The thing I didn't like was the special effects. The "Aurora Borealis" was pretty well made, but the graphics of the exterior of the plane were cheesy. I particularly didn't like Laurel's character. There was just something about her that annoyed me. Mr. Toomey was weird but funny also. The worst part of the movie was the ending. It leaves quite a bit unexplained, but does not, in my opinion, leave room for a sequel. It could have been shorter. Much of the talking could have been eliminated. But all in all, the plot was very good. I liked this movie, despite the poorness in quality of some areas.
Rating: Summary: Great Plot! Bad Special Effects! Certain Parts Laughable Review: I thought that this movie what a great way of seeing what really happens to the past. It was action packed and suspenceful. I thought that the actors/actresses did very well and that it was well written until the part when they the Blind Girl, Daina, posses soem phycic connection with her killer. Also out of all people why would he stab the only one that was trying to help him. The graphics were also a little laughable for the year it was made. I thought it might have been made in the 80's.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie! Review: Good storyline but the Langoliers could have been a LITTLE bit more real looking and the ending could have been much better. Overall rating about 4 stars.
Rating: Summary: A great movie! Review: I *loved* this movie! True, the special effects were pathetic, but the story and the acting make up for it, in my opinion. Bronson Pinchot was great in this; it really shows his versatility.
Rating: Summary: Terribly written and acted. Review: Avoid this video. It's terrible. You've got actors reciting terrible dialogues, turning in awful performances. The plot has HUGE holes: i.e. we see the Universe of fifteen minutes ago being devoured by Langoliers (which are laughably rendered) so why is there an atmosphere to keep the plane in the air? And how does the plane's navigation system know where to go without any Earth or signals from the ground? The pacing is terrible. Stockwell, a fine actor, looks embarrassed to be there. The ending is laughably mawkish. The death of the little girl is shameless pandering. Pinchot is overacting up a storm. Cheaply made.
