Rating: Summary: who rained on your paraide? Review: This is a really good movie and I just have one question to ask you people WHATS WRONG WITH THE DANG MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!? IT WAS REALY GOOD i thought.it couldnt beat IT though but it was good I dont see why your giving it a bad rating who rained on your paraide? yes , the special efects wernt the greatest the langoliers did kinda look like flying meatballs and it wasnt a horor movie but it was sci fi and i definitly recomend this.
Rating: Summary: nifto Review: Oh my god!! this movie would have been so awesome if it had been made for the big screen and not for television, if they had a much bigger budget and a few better actors this could have been a great movie. the reason y i give it 3 stars is because of the horrible special effects and the few actors who i will leave annonmus here that overacted and did not do good. On a side note, Mr. Toomy was awesome in this movie the part and the actor just tore it up.
Rating: Summary: Sadly a hugely underrated movie, WELL worth a watch. Review: I am not a Stephen King fan in general. I liked 'The Shining', but that was really because I stand in deep awe of anything that Kubrick did. However, the Langoliers is quite something else and very, very special. If all King's stories could be like this one, he would be magnitudes more famous and popular (not that he's struggling for a buck now!). The sad thing is that it's a pity that the budget for this was curtailed to such an extent that it could only be released mostly in a mini-series format along with the de-facto mind-numbingly lame special effects. It's hard to believe that this film only goes back to 1995!! Anyway, to make up for it, the cast really do pour their hearts out in the acting and if you are going to see it for the first time, be warned, this movie will put you on the edge of your seat almost from the first moment till the very last. Also, the funny thing is that it stands up to being re-watched several times, and each time, you get almost a philosophical insight into the subtle points that King was really trying to portray. Not your typical American mini-series then, whose sole aim is to fill an evening slot and give your eyes somewhere to go to when you take them off the pizza. If you can bring yourself to look beyond the dodgy special effects, you will see creditable roles being played, especially by David Morse as the ice cool captain and Mark Lindsay Chapman as the even cooler Englishman who does exude a certain charisma and rock solid old world dependability and charm. An amazing performance as the deranged Craig Toomey by Bronson Pinchot. It'll be hard to imagine him ever again as the gullible and annoyingly idiotic immigrant in Perfect Strangers or as the effeminite guy in the Beverly Hills cop series. If anything, it was a bit too strong, disturbing and frightening the way he played the role and it shows exactly how dynamic his talents can be. In fact, the first time I saw it, I recognised the face, but I thought it must have been a different actor!! All in all, all the character definitions were good, the contrasts were crisp and to the point, and more importantly, the delivery was honest and credible. You could almost believe that they were who they said they were. Another positive thing going for this film is technical accuracy. I love movies featuring aircraft but I loathe the ones directed and produced by people who don't know the difference between a TriStar and a 737 or 747. So you'll see different planes in all the external shots and lots of different cockpits allegedly for the same plane. 99% of movies featuring planes are like this so you wont have to look hard. However, this one features a TriStar throughout, inside and out (even with the same paint scheme!). So it adds a tiny layer of believability and coherency. Verdict : Ace of the skies, go see it ASAFP.
Rating: Summary: Not a bad made-for-TV movie Review: Ok, Langoliers is a good movie. Nobodies disputing that. Pure fact is that it could have been so much better. I have to admit the (not so) "special" effects ruined the entire film. I mean, COME ON, what the hell were they thinking? As soon as I saw those terrifying Pac Men I just had to fall on the floor laughing like it was the last time I was ever gonna see something so funny. Actually, I was laughing so hard I vomited on the floor. The acting, dear lord where did they get this sad bunch of no-talents? The little psychic chick was horrible. I cant stress that enough. Her performance was as bland as anything. Talk about annoying. That blonde chick and that "nobodies driving the plane" chain smoker chick were lousy too. Craig Toomey needed a more psychotic actor who could handle the intensity of the role. Who did they get? that dude from Perfect Strangers. Only worthy performance was turned in by Dean Stockwell. Not only that, all the characters were about as sharp as a butter knife. Nothing appealing about anyone. I felt nothing for these people. I wanted those big mouthed basketballs to eat the hell out of all of them. Ok I've rambled enough. Point is, the (so called) "special" effects were so lame they have to be seen to be believed. Damn it was horrid. I dont think I've ever seen animation THAT bad. Langoliers is in fact one of the better King adaptions. Just dont expect anything above average. It was overacted as all hell too by the way. And lines like "no fellow time travelers..." don't help matters much either. I'll say something positive. The empty Airport did send off a creepy vibe. But you'll soon forget about that once you see those big chomping meatballs with teeth.
Rating: Summary: The best movie I have ever seen. Review: I'm not sure why people have given this movie mediocre reviews. This is my favorite movie and my only wish is that I could see it for the first time every time. The movie is awesome, and after watching it a few times, you understand more. It's one of those movies that will leave you thinking. But the first time you see it, is the best. Especially if you haven't read the book. It keeps you in suspense durring the whole 3 hour movie. Its SO much like the book, and the director did a good job at keeping the story straight. Anyway, pick this up; its well worth the money!
Rating: Summary: Worth a shot Review: Well, a movie taken from a story is almost never to compare to the original but it does entertain. It has a good plot but the acting could use a little bit of help. Defiantly worth watching at least once, but who knows if you'll ever watch it again.
Rating: Summary: not the greatest movie Review: this movie might have been alright if it hadn't suffered from awkard dialogue which wasnt taken directly from the book other that the interpretation of the langoliers was rather amusing
Rating: Summary: Dumbest Movie on Earth Review: The movie "The Langoliers" is so incredibly stupid it's funny. Honestly, why is it considered a horror movie? For starters, the Langoliers look like flying meatballs with teeth. Even my three year old sister was not scared by them. And the dialogue is just plain dumb at times. Such as when Mr.Toomy tries to shoot Albert, and he waits a full 5 seconds before saying "I think I've been shot" and falling. And Albert goes in search of a stretcher for young, blind Dinah (who has been stabbed by Mr.Toomy), armed against anyting with a toaster! A toaster, ladies and gentlemen. I would not reccomend this movie to anyone who wants a good scare, but only to someone with a craving for stupidity.
Rating: Summary: THIS MOVIE ROCKS THE HOUSE Review: I THOUGHT THAT THIS MOVIE WAS THE BEST THING THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. IN THE VERY BEGINING IT WAS LIKE ANY OLD FLIGHT. FLIGHT # 29 WAS A RED EYE FLIGHT FROM LOS ANGELES TO BOSTON. THEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FLIGHT THEY GO THROUGH A TIME WARP OF SOME NATURE AND EVERYBODY ON THE PLANE THAT WAS AWAKE DISSAPPEARED AND EVERYBODY ON THE PLANE THAT WAS ASLEEP SERVIVED AND LIVED THROUGH IT. THEN THEY LAND AT A STRANGE AIRPORT IN THE STATE OF MAINE AND THEY LAND IN A REALLY DISERTED AIRPORT AND NO ONE IS THERE AND ALL OF THE FOOD IS EITHER SPOILED OR THE DRINKS ARE ALL FLAT. I AM GOING TO OWN IT ON DVD BUT THE VHS COPY WAS EXCELLENT.
