Summary: .....and I see from him, we are not novice!
Review: .."and there is at least the question, that the world has known and long ago abandoned both habits of education, and usages, far superior than that are currently now adhered to"... -Harry Partch-

I enjoyed this movie - it veers from what I consider the "lethargic sterility" in any of the contemporary films coming out of hollywood. It points up a probable resuscitation of something divine and ancient in spirit (and, always seeking for release), of which I know nothing.

My response to it is "Hey, we still have life in this world!!", and "IT'S ONLY JUST A MOVIE!"....Geordan

Summary: not much real science, but it is a good movie.
Review: you wont find albert einstein or von neumann in this movie, so if you are a hardcore science person, you will have to lower your expectations a bit. anyone who has done research in math should understand some of the madness in this movie. if you have ever thought about the struggle between pure science, money and religion, you might like this movie. the ending is a little hard to comprehend though. alot of people dont like this movie, it aint for everyone. personally, i'd prefer this movie over the matrix. this movie actually gives you something to think about, unlike the action/special effects in the matrix.

Summary: Profound and disturbing
Review: Pi offers what few films do today, the opportunity to think long after the closing credits. For me, it rekindled my interest in higher mathematics and the Einsteinian theory that God was the first engineer (and you can bet your bottom dollar He doesn't play dice against the universe). Be prepared to be moved.

Summary: Starving For More "Pi"
Review: It's not often that anyone will find a film that absolutely will not let you forget it. I have discovered one such film and it is called "Pi." After recently purchasing the DVD version of this film, I was even more impressed with it after I watched some of the behind-the-scenes and video segments. At first, a person might not feel comfortable with Max, the crazed mathematician, as his character is very "phobic"in many respects. However, in time you will find yourself feeling and maybe even cheering for this somewhat disturbed genius. The black and white photography is also another big issue in this film. It helps the film achieve this somewhat bleak and cold feeling world of Maximilian Cohen. In a sense, this film achieves its goal of drawing you into the characters individual, yet linking situations, because the subject of numbers in society and the effect they have upon our daily lives can't help but feel cold and lifeless to begin with. Adding the black and white photography only helps excel this feeling of a world becoming dehumanized by itself. To unveil any further information about this wonderful piece of film making would disrespect it, so I need not to continue. I can only say, that if you love to see true, artful, unhampered thinking film making in action, "Pi" is that very such thing and should scratch anyone's creative itch.

Review: Original in all aspects of movie making and story telling. A nice combination of Mathmatics and Religion. Not too heavy for math light waits. and most importantly entertaining.

Summary: what a letdown
Review: i was always known in my circles for having a soft spot in my heart for the bizarre, the absurd. but even my open heart had no room for pi. shoddily thrown together, badly edited, boring, and does it's own premise no justice. sorta like watching the matrix backward in slow motion with the soundtrack being replaced by a cattle slaughterhouse. i remember when arthouse films were about art.

Summary: Intriguing and mysterious.; must experience it at least once
Review: "Pi" was this mysterious movie that played for a short time at a local movie theater. I had absolutely no clue about it, but I was fascinated by the movie poster, a huge pi symbol with the caption: "Faith in Chaos".

That explanation is perfectly suited for this film. Entering the mind of a schizophrenic madman/mathematic genius was exhilarating. I have to admit, this film is not for everyone.

The cinematography is very dizzying (to the point of nausea), and the plot is quite abstract. However, if you watch this at least once, and take the time to think about the messages conveyed about religion and the power of finding universal truth, you will be mystified (although slightly sick to your stomach)

See it once....it may not be your favorite, but you won't regret it.

Review: The first thing that surprised me about this movie was that despite its title, the film had very little to do with Pi, although it definitely was about mathematically understanding the fabric of reality. The second thing that surprised me, was that it actually spent some time showing the mathematical thinking that went through the guys head, and that although it was only a little watered down, I think it was all correct (I remember a little about the Golden Ration from a previous math class, and I think the movie's explanation of it sounded right). That made the rest of the movie seem considerably more plausible.

The movie as a whole was a horrifying and fascinating watch ... I especially liked the repetitive, mathematical summaries of the qualifying elements of reality the main character went through over and over, and how it always seemed to have something to do with looking into the sun. I don't know quite what to say about the ending, except that it was quite unexpected, and quite shocking. See this movie only if you have the stomach to take a glimpse into the mind of a madman.

Summary: The best movie of the year!
Review: It is hard to think of words to describe this movie, but then again, why bother. The movie nears perfection; it starts with a bang and ends with a flourish. Absolutely engrossing.
