Rating: Summary: Absurdist hilarity Review: I laughed so hard at this movie it was painful at times. You will too if you enjoy absurdist, somewhat intellectual humor. Otherwise, you'll probably find it a waste of time.
Rating: Summary: A glimpse into the human condition Review: I saw this movie years ago and like most people had never heard about it before. Only after graduating college and having extra money did I find it necessary to add this flick to my steadily growing collection. As an avid film buff, I believe this to be a work of art. But as modernist art threw people at first (and sometimes still does), this is not a movie easily digested by those that don't enjoy a challenge. It is strange, witty, comical, and unconventional. Schizopolis is for those who like to watch a movie that makes them think. "Ambassedor Jigsaw Landmine," says one of the characters and I've used this sometimes in my own life to describe...well, watch the movie and find out. But I digress, buy this movie if you enjoy a challenge, a good laugh, and a bit of honesty regarding this ever so irritating thing: the human condition.
Rating: Summary: Nose Army! Review: I watched this movie without expectation...I never had been too familiar with the director's work. I started to watch, and from moment one, I kept saying to myself "this is JUST messed UP!" and laughing at the sheer madness of it. This is a perfect movie to watch if you have A:A really weird sense of humor B:A handy supply of hallucinogenicsThis is one of the weirdest movies I have ever seen, and I loved every minute.

Rating: Summary: Do not watch if you need to be spoon fed plot Review: If you enjoy original, funny and off beat film, this is for you. If your idea of comedy involves a bunch of fart jokes, don't even bother. The use of language is great. Love the voiced over bits and when they spoke only in descriptions of scentences! The character go from people you've probably lived next door to to truely bizarre. This is Soderberg at his best! Any more description would just give it away. If you're willing to experience something completely original, give Schizopolis a try!
Rating: Summary: A movie you must see over and over and over ... Review: If you've seen any other works by Steven Soderberg forget all that you know. I went into this movie not knowing what to expect and came out thoroughly entertained. Schizopolis has become one of my all time favorite movies and I am constantly recommending it to friends and family. Not for the "Standard Hollywood Plot" crowd. Steven Soderberg's Schizopolis is a surrealistic view of your average run of the mill Joe working for your average run of the mill L. Ron Hubbard clone, and his trials and tribulations of everyday life, or every other day life, or other peoples lives.
Rating: Summary: my favorite part is when. . . Review: my favorite part is when he makes faces to himself in the bathroom mirror :D second favorite part is when he & his wife converse in those hyperliteral phrases :D
Rating: Summary: The Emperor's New Plotline Review: Not being a big follower of the previous work of Steven Soderbergh, I accidentally stumbled across this video... I am quite thankful that I did. At times brilliant, at others slapstick, briefly sobering; but always witty. This movie, or anti-movie as its presentation, lack of credits and laid-back shooting would better classify it as, is truly refreshing to anyone tired of seeing the same old formulas applied again and again, and anyone who wouldn't mind seeing a jab taken at scientology and other opiates for the masses. To paraphrase this movie, if you don't enjoy the movie, please keep in mind that this is your fault, and I will add that how much you enjoy this movie will certainly reflect how far from the status quo you are. I will and have recommended this movie to many, however most of them didn't enjoy it. They suck. Watch this movie is all I will say... that's all you need to hear.
Rating: Summary: SODERBERGH GOES NUTS Review: Put Monty Python, Mad Magazine and Kafka in a blender, add celluloid and you'll get Stephen Soderbergh's comedy SCHIZOPOLIS (Criterion).
This paranoid pastiche of skits, visual puns and verbal riffs has no story but attempts nothing less than making sense of reality via dentistry, doublespeak and corporate espionage.
Besides directing and starring in a dual role, Soderbergh wrote the screenplay, edited the film and interviews himself on the commentary track. He says:"If you don't understand this film, it's your fault and not ours."
No, Stephen, it's your fault.

Put Monty Python, Mad Magazine and Kafka in a blender, add celluloid and you'll get Stephen Soderbergh's comedy SCHIZOPOLIS. Or that's what's obviously intended here. This paranoid pastiche of skits, visual puns and verbal riffs has no story but attempts nothing less than making sense of reality via dentistry, doublespeak and corporate espionage. Besides directing and starring in a dual (schizo?) role, Soderbergh wrote the screenplay, edited the film and interviews himself (yes, even more schizo) on the commentary track:"If you don't understand this film, it's your fault and not ours." No, Stephen, it's your fault.
