Rating: Summary: One of the great 50's Sci-Fi flicks ever. Review: I really love this movie. I rank it up there with "The Day the Earth Stood Still".
Rating: Summary: Them! Is A Great Sci-Fi Movie Review: To go along with the first review about it being color. The opening sequence ( airplane flying over New Mexican desert) was in color - remainder of the film was in black and white. You'll love seeing James Arness in a rle oter than that of Matt Dillon. He really brings "life" to this movie. In the 90's it's rather "campy" but definetly worth watching.
Rating: Summary: One of the greatest and most underrated Sci-fi films ever. Review: With an excellent script, a wonderful ensemble cast, and some eerily poignant directorial touches, THEM stands out as one of the greatest Science Fiction films in the genre's history. A word to the wise- don't confuse this film with the glut of "mutated monster" films so popular in the 1950s; THEM is a truly great film. (Interesting note- THEM was originally budgeted as a full-color release. While in production, the film's budget was slashed and it was slated for a black-and-white release. This may have been a serendipitous occurrence; the dark, creepy ants of the film were actually accented with garish purple and green colors!)
Rating: Summary: One of the best acted 50's sci-fi, even tho it's B&W! Review: This movie, which I saw in it's original screen debut, haunts me every time my wind-shield wipers squeek across the glass! It's a fantastic, no-frills thriller. I highly recommend!
Rating: Summary: Really good movie. Review: I really enjoyed this movie. It wasn't too violent and the giant ants were great. This movie actually had a plot that could be followed. Overall, I would recommend seeing it, especially if you life old sci-fi movies.
Rating: Summary: A great classic Review: This is the kind of movie that you watch at 3 in the morning and never get tired. If you look past the surface of the movie(anti-nuke theme)you'll see a great flick filled with a little humor & horror plus a little sci-fi thrown together in a great mix.
Rating: Summary: Magnificent Review: One of my all time favourite black and white sci-fiction movies. The mutated ants of the cold-war nuclear hysteria makes for great monster stuff. This and The Thing are my ITS from outer space. Good stuff - they certainly don't make 'em like they used 'ta. Cheers
Rating: Summary: One great monster movie Review: I remember watching this as a kid and being scared to death. I thought the giant ants were out there and coming to get me. Definitely worth saving.
Rating: Summary: One of the best science fiction movies ever made Review: This is the movie that got me hooked on sci-fi. The plot is a classic one involving a mutation from atomic tests done in the desert. This movie is one of the best movies from the time period that I have ever seen. I believe that it's a combination of not only good special effect, but the a good job casting that makes this a complete movie. A must have for a true science fiction fan!
Rating: Summary: A great 1950s horror classic Review: This adventure was perhaps the best of the mutant-insect monster films that were so popular in the 1950s. In this story, huge, fearsome eight-foot ants were spawned as a result of nuclear testing in the New Mexico desert, and they wreak havoc in the White Sands area, where several people are missing or found dead under mysterious circumstances. The FBI enters the case and they enlist the expertise of two entomologists to help uncover the disappearance of missing persons and the awful realization of what has been taking place in the desert. A nest of the mutant ants is found and destroyed but the queen has already taken flight and must be found before she can hatch another batch of monsters. Eventually, the nest is discovered in a system of storm drains below the streets of Los Angeles, and sets the stage for a tense finish. The black and white cinematography is moody, and the good music score has an eerie, haunting quality that suggests a terrifying, unknown evil.
